Description
Ghostbusters: The Video Game, based on the smash hit motion picture franchise and featuring a completely new story, is coming to six game systems in 2009. Coinciding with the 25th anniversary celebration of the film’s original theatrical release, the game reunites original cast members to recapture the unique blend of humour and fright that established Ghostbusters as a pop culture sensation.
Penned by original Ghostbusters writers Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd, Ghostbusters: The Video Game brings members of the original cast together for the first time in 20 years. Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson lend their voices and in-game likenesses to the original story set two years after Ghostbusters II, with Manhattan once again overrun by ghosts and supernatural forces. Players will have the chance to chase, attack, and catch ghosts in a funny and frightening battle to save New York from its latest supernatural plague. Features:

"Disappointingly Buggy and Short"
Whilst the voice acting (the original cast after all), and the graphic style are endearing, Ghostbusters for the Wii suffers from bugs, a very short game run through, and some sloppy controls.
Zapping ghosts with the Wiimote is fun enough, and the wrangling with motion control works surprisingly well. However the view control (point the Wiimote at the screen edges to turn) and the difficulties this causes in tracking ghosts in tight corners feels sloppy. Much of the game feels unfinished. Having hit the "invulnerable StayPuft" bug, and the "unauthorised distribution" bug very early on it renders much of the rest of the game a case of guess the intent. Is it a bug? Is it a puzzle? For completionists there are many scans and book pages to discover, but since finding pages usually involves the tedious process of blasting all the furniture and scenery to bits most people won't bother. This renders the game a short, and extremely linear, run through. Worth a rent, for the kids, but not much else.
"Not bad"
The gameplay is definitely unique so that's a plus. I've played the PC version of it and there are differences, for example the characters of PC version are lifelike while they are cartoon-like on Wii.
They still have the original voice actors, though such as Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, etc. The controls take some getting used to but it is kinda cool and different. Note that you need the Wii Nunchuck to play. Since 2 players (split screen) is possible, you would need 2 Nunchucks. Another thing that's different is the fact that you can have a female character as well. If you're playing multiplayer, you can only have 1 male and 1 female character. I got this when during a Mighty Ape's promotion so it was definitely worth a try. FeedbackIf you think we've made a mistake or omitted details, please send us your feedback. |
