"Another Innovative Title for Wii"
Not really a game as such but a fitness regime, but still different from the existing wii fit, it looks like they could complement each other nicely. Who needs to buy fitness equipment any more, if you kids have a wii get yourself wii fit or wii active. I wouldn't like going to a gym but in my own home I could see myself trying this as an alternative.

"A Structured Workout"
This game is far better then Wii fit. Unlike Fit that has no structure or guidelines to help you work out, EA Sports Active gives you a set of exercises to work through. This is game is more focused and designed to help someone lose weight. Wii Fit is more game like, the games are really short and you have to go to the next one yourself. I think Active is a better system then Fit.

"Great Motivator"
I really enjoy this fitness program. It's not at all boring because each day your doing a different workout. This gives you the motivation to want to see what's next. The 30 day challenge is a great idea, and as your fitness level increases, so do the exercises.
Overall, this is a great program for someone wanting to get fit from the comfort of their own home.

"More Active than Wii Fit!"
A real workout in just a few minutes. Designed for the next step past the couch potatoes aimed at by Wii Fit. It challenges with a group of exercises, combining cardio and resistance. A Nunchunk is essential; the balance board is optional in this fitness game.
Workouts can be the preset ones, or custom built. If one of the exercises in the preset is not right for you, then it can either be deleted from that set, or skipped. As the basics are learnt, and after progressing through a number of exercises or minutes, trophies are awarded. Boxing includes both punch bag and targets (repetitive or random) and if using the balance board kick boxing can be included. Running and walking combinations or short, medium or long durations; dancing; sports of tennis, volley etc; squats, stretches, - this game covers most of the basics. It does not use your personal Mii, but does allow you to build a character to represent you. And it does not record weight, BMI etc as the Wii - that's up to you to monitor. Comes with the leg strap and resistance band. Enjoyable, motivational, energy tracking, and with constant feedback - both positive and encouraging. Checks speed and technique. Quick delivery of just one day from Mighty Ape too!

"A big disappointment. Stick with Wii Fit"
All the things that make Wii Fit work are missing in Wii Active. This is clearly a product designed by a company that is used to writing complicated software for kids and doesn't get it when it comes to engaging adults.
The interface to play the game is much less intuitive and much less fun than Wii Fit. You can use their 30 day program but are stuck with a lot of stuff you won't want to do forcing you to customize and spend more time than desired. You really can't just plug in the game and start exercising. The exercises themselves are inconsistent. Some are good (the boxing), some are utterly boring (in-line skating) and many do not register on the screen properly as you are exercising which is totally frustrating. If you have Wii Fit you will miss the simplicity of the design that makes it so easy to use and popular. The balance board is really superflous to the game for the most part so don't worry if you don't have one. The best parts of Wii Active are fixing some of the annoyances of Fit. You can customize a program for yourself instead of having to navigate back and forth. You can also exercise with a partner (although the product does NOT have 2 sets of required equipment as the ad states. You will have to buy a 2nd set if you want to have another family member join). Save your money and buy an exercise tape, or Wii Fit. It will be more enjoyable and EA can go back to making couch potato sports games for teens and under.
