4 stars "Best of the series - highly recommend"

I have all the EA Sports Active games, and have enjoyed each new version more than the previous, and this is no exception!

EA have addressed many of the missing features / annoyances from the previous versions. This is definitely the best of the 3!

Good points:

Improves on previous versions with additional exercises, more workouts (3 week and 9 week programs as well as user and system generated workouts)

Better support for different strength resistance bands and hand held weights.

It does not rely on the previous games at all – you can skip straight to this one!

Arm and leg sensors mean you don't need to use the wii-mote and nun chuck as much during exercises

Better online goal tracking applications and workout groups that integrate well with the fitness programs.

Exercises seem to keep up with my pace better than previous versions.

The heart rate monitor adds a great new dimension and works surprisingly well

Annoyances:

Communication with EA servers takes a while on my broadband connection, but it is easy to disable!

Loading time between exercises is still too slow for my liking.

4 stars "Much better than the original"

The aspects of the original EA Sports Active game that were annoying have been resolved in this release. It's great not having to use the controller and nunchuk, it gives you much more freedom of movement. They have much better warmup and cool down activities and some cool new sports like mountain biking. The heart rate monitor is an added bonus and certainly provides inspiration to work harder. An all round much better workout.

"Best yet...."

This is the third EA fitness programme purchased, as well as a few other brands.
This is the best yet. 99% hands free – annoying that 1% when it loses comms with the main controller in the middle of an exercise, usually during cool-down.
There are trainer generated workouts, self-write workouts and extras such as cardio kick starts – brilliant.
Better than others, in that it allows you to decide whether to include all exercises – when there is an injury you can skip exercises that may aggrevate.

Three levels of intensity too. So you can set up for extreme days and light days.
Recommended.

5 stars "Ouch!"

I hadn't done much exercise for a while, jumped into this one the day I got it, spent the next few days recovering. It's a great workout and I love the wireless accessories, much better design than the original version.

4 stars "Definitely does the job, but not without it's 'quirks'"

I bought this game at a good discount, and am more than happy with it. I am currently doing the 9 week program on easy, and while I am overweight, it is challengin enough without being so hard I give up. There is also options to do other workouts outside the set program, creating your own or choosing preset ones.

Tips:
Don't connect the Wii balance board if you have one – it is only used for a few of the exercises and times out in others stopping you mid workout to reset it.

The Wii remote does time out from time to time as well if you aren't holding it for exercises when you have free hands – keep it handy so you can push the ‘a’ button to reconnect it.

There is quite a loading lag between some of the exercises that is noted in a lot of other reviews – I use this time to grab some water and do some stretches, as stretches aren't included in the warm up, and find the lag a blessing.

I had to put the leg peripheral on upside down for the game to recognise some of my movements – leg raises etc. sinceI did that, no problems!

I tied the resistance band handles quite far down the band, as it is really slack – doing this made the exercises more worthwhile.

Overall, definitely worth a try!!
