Description

Includes: Activity Meter

Active Health with Carol Vorderman comes packed with a sleek, specially designed pedometer, called an Activity Meter, which monitors your activity levels throughout the day when placed in your bag or pocket. Carol provides you with a daily step target and at the end of each day you simply point the Activity Meter at the Nintendo DS, like a TV remote control, and with one click of the button your data will be sent to your DS by infrared signal. Additional activity can also be entered into the software so whether you go for a long walk, a swim or do some gardening, it will all count towards your daily activity goal. You can input your Wii Fit activity into Active Health to keep track of additional exercises completed on the Wii.

On the path to reaching your goal, you can earn incentive points by maintaining exercise levels and selecting healthy food options as part of your diet programme. As points are earned, additional features such as new background music and images become unlocked. Active Health with Carol Vorderman also offers a variety of fun mini-games to help motivate you to keep healthy such as the Walking Challenge which converts your steps into miles so you can attempt to walk the distance between Land’s End and John O’Groats! To help improve your knowledge of the calorie count of popular foods Calorie Count Up is a mini game you can play alone or against Carol. You have to choose items from a selection shown on screen and see if you can reach the target of 1,000 calories.

Active Health with Carol Vorderman is a simple and motivating way to get you on track to a healthier lifestyle. It’s easy to use, fits around your life and can help to bring the fun back into healthy living. Active Health with Carol Vorderman helps you work towards a balanced lifestyle by focusing on your exercise regime, diet and fitness goals with:

Regular Exercise - Pop the Activity Meter in your pocket, then beam walking data to your DS. All exercises, like swimming or playing on Wii Fit can be added, too.

Healthy Eating - Input your meals for nutritional information. Unlock new recipes, then add the ingredients to a shopping list.

Fitness Goals - Set step goals and calorie targets, then see if you can stick to them and reach your ideal fitness levels.

4 stars "Nifty little thing."

Easy to use program. Tiny tracker to track steps. Only problem is the limited food in the food counter.

5 stars "Just the push I needed"

Its a simple to use gadget. If you need a little push and something to measure your progress this is the thing for you. It could be so much better but you get value for money here. I was size 28 now size 10. Well I will hopefully say that one day!

4 stars "Good investment for beginning to get fit"

A good investment for those starting out getting fit/ improving diet. Features are pretty good- pedometer function is probably the best thing, I found the personalised goal setting for steps walked really helpful to motivate me, and there are activities and check points that kept me interested.

Gauges BMI and calculates weight loss goals, which are generally not too unreasonable and can be altered manually. Charts are stored that keep track of your progress, pretty helpful to see what you can improve on.

Can opt for just pedometer/activity tracking, or can add calorie tracking as well, which I found too troublesome so didn't really do, but was good to have the option.

Don't think it would be particularly helpful or interesting for someone who is already fit/ happy with their weight, but I would recommend it for those in the population who aren't but are health conscious, or for a present for a person aiming to get fit.

One con about this was the UK formatting. Distances were calculated in miles and recipe ingredients are measured in ounces and grams. But weight can still be entered in kg, and height in cm, so it's not a big problem, just slightly annoying. Also many of the recipes aren't too healthy- but they're easily ignored or modified, probably better to google healthy recipes.

Overall a relatively good personal coach though, recommended.

5 stars "Simple and easy to use"

Brought this mainly to measure steps. Has easy simple to use programe with walking challenges and food diary. Though the best part, is if you leave the sensor in your pocket all day and then drive quite a bit your steps look really good as it registers the vibration from the car, totally makes you feel good about yourself.

4 stars "Simple & straight forward"

Really easy to use & set up. Good way of tracking exercise & food.
Has some limitations of food options, but easy enough to work around.
