The Netgear DGN3500 was my second attempt to replace my aging modem/router, in an environment that includes mainly OSX based machines and a couple of Windows ones.
I initially purchased a Belkin Share which, despite having OSX software and the OSX label displayed on the box, didn't work well in a LAN environment consisting of Macs. The reason for this was that it didn't support a critical networking discovery protocol used by OSX (Bonjour), so file sharing was painful, and other features such as printer sharing and shared iTunes libraries didn't work at all.
The DGN3500 on the other hand, was the complete opposite. Its setup wizard software only installs on Windows, but don't let that put you off, as it can be configured fully using its browser based interface (which includes a setup wizard as well). It has integrated seamlessly into my LAN (with no loss of functionality at all), and I am getting excellent performance from the Gigabit ethernet connections. ADSL is also working well, and appears to have a performance improvement over my previous modem/router. The Wifi range appears to be excellent, with a stronger signal now available down the other end of the house (a must have for those PS3 online gaming sessions :-)).
In summary, if you are a Mac user looking for a modem/router that plays nicely with your gear, I can recommend the Netgear DGN3500 for sure!
