Description

Go down in the dungeon. Kill everything you meet. Backstab your friends and steal their stuff. Grab the treasure and run.

Admit it. You love it.

This stand-alone game captures the dungeon experience… with none of that stupid roleplaying stuff. All you have to do is kill monsters and grab magic items. And what magic items! Don the Horny Helmet and the Boots of Butt-Kicking. Wield the Staff of Napalm… or maybe the Chainsaw of Bloody Dismemberment. Start by slaughtering the Potted Plant and the Drooling Slime, and work your way up to the Plutonium Dragon….

Fast-playing and silly, Munchkin can reduce any roleplaying group to hysteria. And, while they're laughing, you can steal their stuff. 168 cards, rules.

4 stars "Completely different, absolutely fun!"

Its kinda like Dungeons and Dragons mixed with the humour of worms/popular geek references.
Its the kind of family/friends game I think you could play with almost anyone. Since you are using random decks, no two games are truely the same. An added benefit to the card-style is that setup and packup are quick, I find that game length can vary hugely depending on luck and the boldness of your moves.

You are intially under the impression you are working together, until a prior turns ally slaps down a +10 on a monster you just walked into. Unlike a game like Settlers of Catan ( passive agressive ppl rejoice ) you can really harm a fellow player quite horribly in the early game. The flip side is that its likely another suffering ally will team up with you, where you both benefit.

The game does take a few minutes to explain to a new comer, and you do end up making a few mistakes while getting to know the cards. Sometimes items get used when infact they shouldn't, sometimes you forget to use a card when almost losing a combat.

The best aspect is that the game kinda allows for mistakes and the rules are solid, but flexible too. I've found since I bought the game, I kinda become the default rules interpreter as well, situations do arise, but its easy to just make a fair call and move on.

Overall I'd suggest this to the casual or family gamer, its probably a little silly or fun for the hardcore gamer. I'd rate this a beer and pizza game or a family game through and through. One things for sure, you WILL play it often and you will laugh ( my gender crossed, half elf, half dwarf, warrior cleric says so!)

Since the game is that fun, I ended up purchasing the expansion from Mighty Ape also!

Note: it does say 12+ somewhere on the box, but my 8 year old loves it!

4 stars "Backstabbingly good"

If you've ever done a dungeon crawl with a min/maxer this is the game for you. It is good fun and it is very amusing to see how your friends laugh at your misfortune, backstab everybody else and generally wreak havoc.

It is an amusing little game that is good for whiling away a few hours.

5 stars "Want to wield the Chainsaw of Bloody Dismemberment?"

Who wouldn't want to don the “Boots of Butt Kicking” and work their way through the dungeon slaughtering everything on sight, to win all the treasure.

Designed by Steve Jackson, Munchkin is a brilliant role playing card game that allows you to do just this. Highly enjoyable, the game kept my friends and I occupied for ages as we did battle with the “Floating Nose” and the “Balrog”

Let's be honest, who wouldn't have fun attacking monsters with chainsaws? Or ambushing thier friends to get all the treasure.

An insanely twisted yet fun time had by all.

5 stars "Great Game"

Munchkin is a great game and loads of fun for everyone, I highly recommend this game for anyone who wants a game full of humor, who doesn't want to be thief and steal your mates treasure or wear the boots of buttkicking. This is a truly epic game!

5 stars "Loads of Fun"

Took a little while to get the hang of how to play and what the cards mean, but once you know… Loads of FUN!
