"Microsoft's best ever mouse."
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

I really love this mouse.

The ergonomics on it are amazing, it's the first mouse I've bought that feels like it fits my hand, almost perfectly. Construction is very solid, it's all plastic except for the outer ring of the mousewheel which is made of aluminium.

The tilt-wheel buttons are very easy to operate, and in addition you have the two very well place thumbswitch buttons. The mouse has two additional buttons, one let's you record macro's on-the-fly and the other launches Windows Vista's game manager.

The on-the-fly macro recording is pretty cool. You press the record button, then you press the switch on the mouse you want to assign the function to. After that you merely perform the action in game you wanted to replicate and then hit the record button a second time. The macro recorder will remember keystrokes and timings, but unfortunately not mouse movement (oh well).

The wireless sensor also houses the charging cable as well as some additional mouse “feet” if you need to change those (two sets included).

The charging cable is really nicely implemented through the use of a magnetic connector. You can literally pass the mouse over the connector and it will snap into place – very cool. The mouse will actually run without a battery if connected to the charging station as well.

One feature which is nice is you can switch between 3 DPS settings on the fly. Configurable from between 250–4000 for each preset.

Finally, this mouse will work on glossy surfaces(fantastic) and includes an on-off switch (at last).

"Some good choices, some just stupid"

This mouse is pretty good. Two easy to reach and press thumb buttons, a dpi switch between three custom settings, a tilt wheel (a mouse wheel that also goes side-to-side), a very very handy macro record button to quickly make macros on the fly in-game and wireless capabilities. Stupid choices include a button that opens your “My Games” folder and can't be changed as far as I know making it quite pointless seeing as most people don't use their “My Games” folder and it's quite awkward to press and the fact that although you can plug the mouse into the usb hub/wireless reciever to recharge your rechargeable AA batteries that come with the mouse, it is just a very weak magnetic connection. While recharging your mouse the connection often breaks and it will stop recharging. Not only that but because nothing actually “plugs” in to anything, it's quite hard to get the tiny pins to all touch each other in the first place. This is extremely annoying, if your mouse runs out of battery in the middle of a game, you may have to spend a couple minutes trying to just connect the mouse to the hub to recharge, and if you do, the connection will likely be broken if you lift the mouse or move it quickly, which I found myself sub-consciously doing a lot in multiplayer games. To finish on a bright note however, the fact the the “hub” that receives the wireless signal and has the cord to recharge your mouse wrapped subtly around it has got a usb cord probably over a meter long to plug into your computer is a big thumbs up from me compared to the usual flash-drive resembling tiny wireless receivers that require you to plug in a different cord to charge your mouse. So quite good, but also quite annoying, judge for yourself.
