I used this book when studying Horticulture and it was very helpful and interesting. I still refer to it all the time when i'm in the garden and notice a pest or disease. I often pick it up to read anyway for no reason just because its that good.

We used this book at the organics course that I have been studying and it made the pest and diseases paper so much easier to do, everything you need to know is there for you to identify easily – grab a leaf with strange spots or streaks or a bug, go inside look through the books amazing clear pictures and you will find your answer, if you know what your pest or disease is you can remedy things a lot better. It has been fantastic and I am enjoying using it in my garden now. The book also has photos of beneficial insects that you want to attract to your garden with information on their life cycles so you know when they are most helpful .
Description
The book covers the many garden and nursery production pests of bedding plants, houseplants, vegetables, fruit trees and ornamental trees and shrubs, including natives, as well as the disease-causing pathogens, fungi, bacteria and viruses. It includes examples of beneficials (predators and parasites of pests) and where appropriate, more examples of pest and disease symptoms.
Rob Lucas actively promotes a holistic approach to pest control and stresses appropriate alternatives to pesticides where these are available and feasible. To develop this further he has included a new section that sets out the key principles and controls appropriate to organic growing.
Managing Pests and Diseases is an essential reference book for all home gardeners, horticultural students, growers and garden centre staff.
