"The best portrayal of Charlotte Bronte's "Jane Eyre" yet."
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Fantastic! Loved every minute of it. The characters of Jane and Mr. Rochester were portrayed brilliantly. Toby Stephens in particular encompassed just the right amount of mysterioussness, severeness and humour of that Mr. Rochester, making him all the more attractive. Definitely a must buy.

"Classic love story, beautiful."
4 stars"

Classical Bronte. Beautiful love story wonderfully portrayed on screen. This version is likely the best one yet. Ruth Wilson has done a great job as Jane Eyre, her determination, strength and passion illuminates the screen. Toby Stephen's Rochester is a great representation of the dark, handsome and mysterious character in the novel. The screenplay varied only very slighty from the book and at times fail to convey the psychological turmoils with which the book describes. Would have been fantastic if it was a bit longer!

"My favourite version of Jane Eyre to date"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

As the other reviewers have stated, the highlight of this version is Toby Stephens' portrayal of Rochester (not to say that Ruth Wilson in the title role was anything less than excellent). I have seen previous versions of Jane Eyre, but none have been as appealing or well-produced (IMHO) as this. Although I now own a copy, it didn't stop me from watching it on cable TV earlier this month.

The production values are exceedingly high and the performances from all actors are excellent. Highly recommended, particularly for a lazy long afternoon or weekend.
