Hope will lead you home
Daisy (Oscar nominee Saoirse Ronan, ATONEMENT, HANNA), a teenager from New York, is sent to the English countryside for the summer to stay with her step-cousins. She soon immerses herself into her new life – made all the more easy when she falls for the sexy, thoughtful Eddie (SUNSHINE ON LEITH'S George MacKay) – until their perfect summer is blown apart by the sudden outbreak of a terrifying nuclear war.
Along with Eddie’s younger siblings, Isaac (Tom Holland, THE IMPOSSIBLE) and Piper, they are left in isolation and forced to fend for themselves. When they are violently separated Daisy must embark on a perilous journey in order to be reunited with the boy she loves.
Eddie is never far from Daisy’s mind, but as her journey to find him becomes more desperate, the idea of what she may or may not find consumes her consciousness and haunts her soul.
How I Live Now movie reviews
“Tender, humane, and searing, How I Live Now stands as something all too rare: a movie about young people that young people may love — but not one that lies to them, and not one built for them alone.” Village Voice
“In a movie without adults, the children are spontaneous and natural. And Ms. Ronan is captivating throughout.” New York Observer
“It's strong stuff, and the actors are fully up to it.” RogerEbert.com
“Macdonald commendably refuses to soften the blow in a couple of unforgettable scenes – setting this teen epic bravely apart from its peers.” FilmInk
