"Disc only has half of game, need to download the rest"
1 stars"

Pretty poor support for the PC, for some reason the DVD only contains half of the game, so you will have to download the other hafl from Steam.

It is crazy, thats 5 Gb, the disk is large enought to hold the entire game but someone at THQ decided that you need to download half of it.

"A disappointing 5Gb download!"
2 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

There is a 5Gb day-one update (probable security thing) and with my rural broadband it'll cost me about half a months usage for some thing i brought physically to avoid things like this as well as 4 hrs (or 12+ as it turned out).

I know this is not mightyape fault but if they know it would have been nice to have been able to save up some of this months cap. an “internet connection required for activation” tag would also be nice as it's not in the “System Requirements”

After eventually getting to play the game i was some what disappointed. The graphics where poor even on max settings. The game was plagued with “quick time events” to do actions you could already do like jump, the game would stop you from jumping the object and it hold you the till it asked you to pressed “E” it would often hold you there so it could finish dialogue or some times because it did not think you would get there that fast. As you can probably tell the game is painfully linear.

The 2 –3 people you had with you where useless! they had cliche dialogue from a bad action movie that took itself too seriously. they where immortal so did not mind the enemy getting past them so you may as well be doing it by your self anyway. They would not get out of your way when out of combat and in they could hog the cover and then demand you follow them in to the open when you promptly die as they stand next to you absorbing lead.

"Very poorly designed game"
1 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Buying a hard copy of the game you would expect to be able to play after you've installed it with the disc, but not so with this game you have to download about 2.8gb of game patch, wasting bandwidth and time. The campaign mode only lasted about 2 hours, there was no emotional attachment to the story whatsoever. Very poor graphic as if it was made 3 years ago. The multiplayer mode was messed up, single spawn point for each team = spawn rape, certains maps you were able to shoot from one side of the map all the way to the other end with no objects in the way. Sniper rifles are over powered with 1 shot kills. Battle Point system is badly planned, takes 2000 something points to get a chopper but it takes 400 points to buy a rocket launcher which can easily take down a chopper with 2 hits. Conclusion – Not worth buying.

Reviews

“…I liked Homefront a lot, and yet I acknowledge that the aspects of the game I like the most aren’t the most important in determining whether the game is great or not. Homefront is certainly one of the most unique shooters I’ve ever played, driven by an ingenious and surprisingly well-fleshed out plot and a dark and dreary, realistic setting. But it also controls and feels like a typical shooter, looks like a game that’s several years old, and most importantly, has an inexcusably brief campaign. Multiplayer is the redeeming quality, and those gamers out there who are like me and swoon for alternate/future history settings should certainly look into it.” 7/10 – IGN

“…I found myself really enjoying Homefront’s multiplayer for its polished mechanics and chaos on the battlefield. It’s too bad that same ferocity don’t manifest in the single-player campaign.” 79/100 PC Gamer

“..engrossing vision of the future and gratifying competitive multiplayer outweigh its squandered potential and workaday game mechanics…It's rare to have a shooter pay this much attention to its setting, and the results are some remarkably memorable moments that are often nicely emphasized by the soundtrack. It squanders a lot of potential for greatness, but the campaign still fuels much of the game's appeal, helping to distinguish it among a crowded field of competitors.” 7/10 – Gamespot

“It features plenty of enemies, some pretty awesome locations, and a killer premise. Though the story falls flat about halfway through, and the game needs at least five more chapters to feel complete, you will have lots of fun…” 74/100 Cheat Code Central
