Far Cry 3 (PS3 Essentials) reviews

I don't often write reviews. In fact, this is my first on Mighty Ape. But this game deserves commemoration for, quite literally, bringing a tear to my eye. The combination of intense storyline, realistic environments and stunning character development create a game which could easily be a movie – or even a real life crisis, watched from the eyes of a helpless world.

You do not simply run in, kill the enemies and make done with it. A series of mass murderers tear apart your family and force you into the jungle. It took me fifteen real world hours to get to the end of the campaign – and it was worth every minute. I ended up hating these characters with true passion, and wanting them dead more than anything else. It's a totally immersive story and I became completely lost in it.

If you haven't already, buy this game, you won't be disappointed. You will love the game and all of its twists and turns, and you will spend countless hours trying to complete it – side missions and collectables keep you busy long after the game has finished.

A total masterpiece, combining the best elements of the previous games and creating a world that you will be completely swallowed by.

I have already played Far Cry 3 for many hours, but have barely progressed the main story. This is because the game doesn't force you into anything. You can do side-quests, tasks on noticeboards, or even just explore the island and its stunning visuals. It is this, excellent game play and well voiced characters that place the game among the best in its genre

This game reminds me of red dead redemption only in a more modern time setting. It is very addictive trying to go around collecting items for crafting etc. Combat is just like your regular first person shooting style. The story keeps you entertained and wanting to get to the next mission. Overall this is very much a highly recommended game.

this game is a good game to start the new year. set on a big island with vass styled baddies makes it a perfect way to vent your anger. the natives seemed to be voiced by some famous NZ Maori and say funny stuff. its got the AC feel to it too from it being a ubisoft game and is definitely worth a try

Don't get me wrong, this game has amazing gameplay! but there are so many messed up parts in the game, seriously, know that before you buy this it is incredibly messed up!

Really good story line but the combat sucks, traveling sucks more and gathering items for upgrades even manages it out suck traveling and combat. I regret the money that could have been out elsewhere

game is absolutly awesome! loving it.. its my GOTY… as for mightyape printing skills. they suck. 3rd time in a row, my package has been sent to the wrong address, it was ment to go to the B.O.P, but no. this one went to GREYMOUTH the otherside of the damn country… make me wait for a week… so much for ‘mighty fast delivery… ’

I was a little underwhelmed with FarCry2 but this is just awesome. 30+ hours already and I'm only 68% through and still ripping through it. Plenty to explore and find, side quests and main missions. A game well worth your hard earned money! Sweet

I joy the game alot

The fact that there is so many achievements to accomplish carries the game well, if you get bored.

The fact you can make so many different choices in how you want to attack the game makes you play it more than once.

Good story line, and you have to really search around to get all the story. Wasn't so fussed on one of the endings. Glad I didn't choose it the first time. Would have put a real downer on finishing it. Would have been “really”, “what the f@#k”.

But all and all a great many hours of fun.

This game is great. You're given complete freedom within the map to do whatever you want to do. You can play the game at whatever pace you feel comfortable with, and the story line and quest plots are simple and easy to follow, yet engaging and exciting at the same time. Very highly recommended by me!

Couldn't put this game down, so much better than Farcry 2, gameplay was smooth and clear, highly recommended

I love how you can free roam in this fps. Unlike cod where you dont really get to choose where you wanna go and you just stick to the story line

Very worthwhile purchase. Coop can be a bit difficult at first but with friends and upgrades becomes a lot more fun. 1st game I got 100% trophies so should be pretty easy for most.

This game was (cant find the word to descibe it).. Amazing game play best story ive played in I dont know how many years. If you dont have this you have a sad life

It's been awhile since I played a new type of SP FPS (mainly its aimed for the multiplayer). FC3 was a enjoyable campaign to keep you exploring for hours. The storyline was great and new for me, not only do you just kill enemies, you also quest for animals and exploring the wilderness for plants. Even when finishing the campaign, you can go back to finish quests and hunts. It was one of my favourite single player game that I decided to play again from the start.

This game Far Cry 3 is the best game I have ever played and the steelbook is very very very good

All I can say is that you gotta play this game. It's worth every penny. The story is great, the graphics are awesome and best of all, the killer moves of your character will make you jump out of your seat with excitement.

Good long story, tons of collectibles and a sprinkling of side quests, plus the loving care ubisoft have put into the narrative makes it a solid game.

Probably the best game I have ever played, Great visuals and story. Very immersing experience, couldn't have a day without it.

this is a very cool game and is also more challenging than far cry 2 so if you are a person that likes a challenge and adventure then I highly recommend this game keep up the good work mighty ape 10/10

If you're looking for a free-roaming FPS game with an enjoyable story, beautiful graphics and solid game play then look no further.

Far Cry 3 encapsulates all these elements into 1 game and under one aesthetically beautiful game. The realism of the graphics is at times one of the key aspects that make you come back for more. Whether it be the sandy, white beaches to the tropical archipelagos or lush, green forests, Far Cry 3 has all the beautiful environments that you'd come to expect from such a setting.

The gameplay itself along with the controls are very well done and the controls feel very tight but realistic. One of the more interesting aspects of Far Cry 3 is the ability to actually go all-out gun-ho on your enemies Rambo-style if you so wish or contrastingly, take a silent but deadly approach, either sniping or sneaking up on enemy outposts with the knife at hand. Whatever you choose, blood will be shed and the strategic element to stay alive and survive is thoroughly gripping. Another key aspect is the ability to hunt and skin all the wildlife in-game for your own usage. This can be in the form of selling the meat at local shops or making weapon holsters out of their skins to increase the amount of weapons/ammuni­tion/money you can carry. There are a wide range of vehicles in the game from jeeps, village cars, boats, jet skis to even paragliders which really add to the wow-factor as you paraglide over the world.

The story comprises of over 40 hours of game play across both of the large islands of the game and has many missions that will test your skills in surviving, espionage and stealth. Across them, you will meet a variety of characters contrasting in their personalities and disposition towards you. Ultimately however, death is not an option and the story really strives to achieve a sense of desperation in locating your captured friends and reuniting you with them.

I have played over 65 PS3 games and I can say that Far Cry 3 is one of the most enjoyable games that I have played from the current generation. It stands out from the other FPS games in the beauty, realism and sheer enjoyment. For newcomers to the series or fans of FPS/action/ad­venture games, look no further. I cannot recommend this game any more! 9.5/10

This was a sort of fun game but had a very strange storyline, I would recommend it to anyone who likes Sandbox games.

I heard some good things about Far Cry 3 but was totally blown away with the story, characters and environment of the game.

I have never wanted to kill the bad guy in a video guy so badly which shows how great the storyline, voice acting and atmosphere of the game is.

Definitely a 5 out of 5 for me.
