"I didn't know how empty my life was, until I had this."
This isn't a universal remote. This is a dream, plucked from the depths of my subconscious and made real. Before I had this sonic screwdriver, I was changing channels like a shmuck. Sometimes I even had to get up, and walk half way across the room, simply to put the volume up! BUT NO MORE. Now I can sit in luxury, letting my nifty little screwdriver do all the work. But that's only the beginning. It doesn't just work on my tv. It works on any tv I want it too. Slam on the quiet control mode, and my neighbor will never know why the sound on her tv keeps going up.
All in all it has changed my life, for the better.
Plus it comes with a really nifty display case that looks so cool next to my star trek collectibles.

My first purchase through Mighty Ape. Programmed it within minutes of getting it out of the box. Takes a little while to get used to doing some of the actions accurately. I am very happy with my sonic screwdriver.

I'll start with the cons, not that they really are but to be thorough… The four prongs at the top of the sonic screwdriver (SSd) do not “open” – meh. Since all the controls are gestures (so however you move the SSd it can potentially do something) it will take a few trials to work out the best combo and split across the 3 “memory banks”, e.g. When I've done, and I put the thing down it usually recognises a “down” gesture, associating this with “change channel”, “switch everything off” or “activate the burglar alarm” is not smart move.
Unless you are The Doctor you might want a youngster to program it or even use it ;)
On the plus side, one could almost believe it was made by actual Gallifreyans. It looks like the real thing and possibly feels, smells and tastes like it too (I can only assume) AND it's functional (If only everything could be controlled by infra-red). The presentation case is also well and thoughtfully made, not that the SSd spends much time it it.
I'm hoping that The Wand Company brings out some of the other sonic screwdriver revisions, so I might have a set to control everything in the house.
Possibly the awesomest gadget I've owned.
