After playing a few games by Maxis is my time, I wasn't expecting them to release a game such as this. Don't get me wrong, The Sims and Spore were great games. Very addictive and fun to play. Then Darkspore was released. I had my eye on it for a while during my time in financial peril. I wanted to play it to see how it compared. Little did I know I'd get the suprise of my life when the monkeys at Mightyape made it available at a very affordable price. In a nutshell, Darkspore is an absolutely PHENOMINAL game that does everything the genre (Action RPG) describes. The graphics are not “hungry” for resources from a computer, the Spore engine is still about 90% intact (each hero has a pre-set form, the opposite of Spore), the customisation is close to limitless and the “parts” and “weapons” (known as “gear” to veteran RPG players) are fantastically designed and have a beautiful variety. You want a summary- BUY IT. PLAY IT. LOVE IT.

Darkspore is a fun but pretty standard ARPG, and is rather reliant on you having people to play co-op with in order to have fun. If you have friends that are keen, and are an ARPG fan then its probably worth getting, but otherwise I'd look for something better.

Like it says in the title. Do not buy. This game is no longer supported by EA and the servers have been taken down. The game requires you to be connected to Origin even in single-player so it won't work. It should not be sold any more
