Love rules all…

A dramatisation of the turbulent first years of Queen Victoria’s rule, and her enduring romance with Prince Albert. 1837. On the eve of her 18th birthday and succession to the English throne, Princess Victoria (Emily Blunt - The Devil Wears Prada) is caught in a royal struggle for power. However, she is unwavering in her resolve to rule England and, as her love affair with her German cousin, Albert, blossoms, she finds the passion and strength to become one of her country’s greatest ever monarchs.

From Academy Award® winners Graham King and Martin Scorsese (The Departed), screenwriter Julian Fellowes (Gosford Park).

2 stars "A great film, but just a film"

I loved this at the movies. The sweet story of a headstrong girl taking her first stumbling steps as a monarch, and possibly one of the sweetest love stories you'll watch.

Plus, period pieces are always so delicious to watch.

What was missing from this DVD though, were the extras. There wasn't a single behind-the-scenes, making of, interview, outtake, or even trailer. All you got was a story that left you wanting more but didn't deliver it. A real shame – there must be dozens of documentaries out there about the young victoria and her marriage, surely the studio owned the rights to at least one of them and could have tagged it on.

After all, the special features are often what lure you to purchase a film and add it to your collection, aren't they-

5 stars "GREAT!"

Very enjoyable – Emily Blunt was amazing and the costumes / sets were great. I don't really like that they took liberties with the truth, but it was a great story about Victoria and Albert. Very enjoyable as a chic flick even if you're not into historical pieces.

4 stars "A royal love story with a happy outcome"

Really enjoyed this. Two people destined to be married, fall in love with each other anyway and become a great love story.

5 stars "Great to watch with your mother."

It has what you want in a period film. Emily Blunt gives her awesome best as usual. Definitely one of the best presents I have purchased for my mother.

4 stars "Didnt Want it to End"

I saw this at the movies and loved every minute. It is a beautifully crafted contemporary period piece. Although not quite 100% factually correct it does do romantic justice to the formation of what was apparently one of the great Royal love matches.
