5 stars "I don't know how you'd make something this good."

I bought this as a collector, wanting to add it to his collection while on special.
When I held the case, I saw the awards gracing the cover, and knew I was in for a treat. “Best animated film, Japan Academy Prize 2010. Best animated film, Fantasia Film Festival 2010. Best animated film, Sitges Film Festival 2010. Animation of the Year, Tokyo Anime Awards, 2010. Best animated film, Mainichi Film Concours, 2010.”
Everything felt perfect in this film; progression, animation, character depth, and the range of emotions it brings forth is noteworthy. It's humourous; yet almost brought me to tears. It's heartwarming; yet thrilling.
There really isn't much I can say, other than this. Summer Wars is the only film I have ever watched twice in one day.
It's just that good.
Don't delay picking up a copy yourself.

5 stars "Great addition to movie collection"

Fantastic movie! Can definitely see why this movie won so many awards in 2010. Great story, accompanied by stunning animations & graphics. A great movie to add to any anime movie collection

5 stars "As good as it gets"

Every bit as good as the girl who leapt through time this anime really goes crazy. An innocent enough story goes crazy into territory that leaves you thinking “what the..” The animation is superb with nice cg parts thrown in to add to the orgy of colour. A story of family togetherness and hardship and the importance of family pride and tradition there are some truly memorable characters. Of course there are some rather lacking… I found Natsuki didn't really do it for me, it could have been her seiyu ( I can't stand english dubbing) but the chemistry between her and Kenji almost by the by. On the other hand characters like Sakae obaa-chan and the awesomely cool Kazuma really add flavour to the proceedings. Suspend your belief and sit back watch over and over, one for the family or the Otaku. The buck doesn't stop at studio ghibli, there's plenty of talent to be seen elsewhere!

5 stars "Summer of the Epic"

Summer Wars is the Best movie that I've seen in a long time.
The graphics and story-line are both top-notch, the battles are edge-of-your-seat amazing and the mix of modern-tech and olden-days, oriental ideals.
The Movie has a good mix of humour and suspence, making it one that is definatly worth the money.
