Content is expansive. Included are all seasons and both movies. Beware the packaging though. Product is displayed in book format and if you take it out by the spine as I did half the DVD's fall out. Nearly every DVD has minor marks due to the cardboard sleeves they are stored in. No effect on play back as yet. I would only recommend purchasing this unit if you have waited for a complete collection, as the DVD's aren't specifically designed for this release. Rather they are the exact same DVD's that were released as individual seasons. So if you have purchased individual seasons already you will just be doubling up. As a whole I am greatly enjoying my purchase and it was great value for money.
The SG-1 Portal Collection is fantastic. Displayed in a boxed/book set, each page is laid out with info for that season. I am so glad that we held out buying the individual seasons and got this box set instead. The only downside is that it doesn't have the original Stargate movie (but that is okay beacause we have it already).
I was a little surprised how compact this collection was when it arrived in the mail. Each season has it's own page, and all the episodes have a plot summary so you can quickly find one should you want to watch it again. My only gripe is how the menu was done – when I played the first disc I wanted to flick through the episodes just to see what it was like, but struggled to find my way back to the menu and restart the episode. On the whole, still a lot better than buying each season individually.
A must have for all Stargate SG1 fans. All the episodes are included, plus delete scenes, cast and crew interviews, etc.
This is a great collectors item, It is far cheaper to order all of the Series + Two Movies, Than purchase them one-by-one!
As for the Mighty Ape customer service, One word: Incredible.
Quick responces, Polite and complete & Because of this other website is
better to order from.
Cheers MightyApe!
Nothing like have the complete collection in one book. A must for all Stargate Fans.
I know many may not agree with this but there are many more that do. You can't go past a better sci-fi series than stargate and having it all in one awesome set is just great. Everything is detailed so clearly and is just a great watch.
loved the series, n definite rewatchable material good value for money as well with the moves thrown in. only downside is what everyone else has said about it – in trying to be fancy about the packaging, they've actually made a cover that damages the dvds instead of protects it. falling discs, and difficulties in getting them out of the slots are such no-no's when you've spent so much money on it.
still, i'm in it for the series !
I actually haven't watched a single disc yet. However, I have seen the
entire series twice already, and buying this means I have a reason to watch the
entire series again.
It's a great show, tops for sci-fi people, it doesn't matter if you are a
trekkie or a star wars person, Stargate SG-1 is a great show.
And it takes up a hell of a lot less space that the individual sets,
believe me.
Although I really love this show the do not like this product. The disks get scratched really easily as some one else mentioned because they constantly fall out of the cardboard cut outs for them. This ended up becoming such a problem I went out and bought a massive disk folder for holding them all, having the large box just for aesthetics, then I realised something that annoyed me so much about the box I put it out of sight. The stargate on the box is not even what the real stargate looks like, I have no idea why they changed it. The real stargate has 9 chevrons on it, the stargate on there box only has 8, and there is huge spacing down the bottom where the 9th one obviously is meant to be but for some reason isnt. Considering this is worth $400 I would have expected the fricking stargate to at least look right on the front of the box!
One of my favourite TV Series of all time that seemed to slip under the radar worldwide. You have to give credit to the writers, directors, actors and the other crew for continually coming up with riveting episodes as they worked through the seasons. There are several fantastic enemies and allies that the SG1 team assimilate with during the entire series including the likes of Apophis, Sokar and Anubis (enemies) and the Tokra, Jaffar and Asgard (allies). If you are looking for an alternative to Star Trek or Star Wars, give this TV Series a go.
