"The Force is with this trilogy"
The most copied, comedy-sketched, satirized, over-exposed & fan-worshiped geekified movies of all time… for a darn good reason. Not seen them recently? See them again & they'll suprise you every time. From the awesome vision to the cliffhanger action – this is Saturday morning sci-fi cinema of the 1950's (think Buck Rogers & Dan Dare) re-imagined for the Disco-generation of the 1970's… & against all the odds it not only works – it holds up decades & a new century later as one of the greatest milestones in cinema history. Wickedly funny (hey, a fast-talking camp robot & his Harpo Marx styled non-talking pal) & action-packed this is a space-set fairy tale complete with princess, wicked villain & dull kid who must become a hero with a little help from a tiny green Merlin-styled teacher. It's got trite religious undertones for the spiritually inclined (May the 4th be with you) & even a bit of deep Oedipal psychology in terms of the father / son conflict – but more than that it's got light sabres! It's got the ultimate twist in episode 5 (Darth Vader's his WHAT???!!!) & it's got… Han Solo! Yup – the pirate movies of George Lucas' youth are perfectly captured by former Carpenter Harrison Ford as Indianna Jones of the future. Even better – all the tinkering of the special editions actually doesn't harm these amazingly entertaining movies – it just helps keep them looking fresher & more fun than ever. If you thought the ultimate family movie was THE WIZARD OF OZ you're wrong – like a fine wine or smelly cheese – STAR WARS just keeps getting better with age & watching it helps keep a big smile on the face of your inner child's immature imagination. You may strike these movies down – but they will become more powerful than you can possibly imagine… Adz
"old school classic"
a real stroll down memory lane with this box set especially with the original versions my 11 yr old son really love to watch them hours of great entertainment with loads of cool action with space dogfights and lightsabre (laser sword) battles even a love story for those girls. great all round movies

What can I say about this re release on dvd apart from it is outstanding. Extra scenes that help bring more sense and content to an already fabulous story. If you love Star Wars then this is an excellent addition to any collection.

Thoroughly enjoyed watching all 3 movies again. Has been over 30 years!!!! since we last saw them. Even the next generation thought they were amazing!

What can anyone say about Star Wars that really does it justice? Not only are they immensely popular films, (all 6 of them!) but the huge amount of other content created by fans, games, books, graphic novels, cartoons etc etc, is huge. There are literally thousand's of pages of information on Star Wars on the internet… And these three movies are what started it all! I am a huge fan and constantly re-watch the films!
