Description

An ambitious young television reporter (Manuela Velasco) and her cameraman follow the crew on a call to rescue an elderly woman unable to escape the inferno that is consuming her home. What seemed to be a routine procedure, unexpectedly, turned into hell. Trapped inside the building, a couple of firemen and the TV crew have to confront an unknown and lethal horror. Something evil and sinister is spreading throughout the building, out of control. The television report takes an unexpectedly dark turn when the old lady plunges her teeth into the neck of the previously sympathetic fireman is simply sensational.

The live news report style in which it is filmed invoke a jarring sense of participation which makes Blair Witch feel cute, dated and comparatively boring.

The film is co-directed by Jaume Balaguero (DARKNESS) and Paco Plaza, who also share writing credits with Luis Berdejo. The hyper-realism of the teams' script and frenzied direction ensure that the viewer is on edge throughout, with dread lurking down every hallway and around every corner. A huge cult hit in its native country, REC has already spawned an American remake, QUARANTINE (2008) and received much-deserved widespread critical acclaim.

5 stars "This movie will scare the S**T out of you"

I saw this at the film festival last year because I had read a description of it which said no more than "reality TV crew gets attacked by Zombies and they don't stop filming " and this was truly the scariest movie I have ever seen in a cinema.

At points you are will be actually pleading for the characters to not go into that room or turn on the light because of the sense of realism you get.

This movie is in Spanish but you soon forget about reading the subtitles and focus more on the beautiful TV reporter scream in horror and you can basically know what the are saying with reading the subtitles

The Zombies are scary as hell as they chase the crew up and down the building.

This is a lot better than the Hollywood remake quarantine and if you like horror movies with Zombies in it and what the crap scared out of you watch [REC] guaranteed to make you jump

5 stars "A rollercoast of Horror"

Try to keep your nerves in check. This film starts off slowly, building the tension and characterization. Once the action begins it is relentless and never lets up all the way to the climax that will leave you screaming. The perfomances are superb, the effects are genuine and creepy and as the bodies pile up and then start walking again, you will be on the edge of your seat.

5 stars "A must watch horror!"

The movie follows a wannabe TV reporter and her camera man who work on a show called while you're asleep who are following a group of fire fighters to show what happens on the grave yard shift little do they know it's a little more then they expected after receiving a call to a apartment building.

While this is a low budget film there are no cheesy computer special effects or loads of over used fake blood and gore in fact the zombies in this movie look so real you will be making sure all your doors and windows are locked at night before you watch this film.

Only downside its 75 mins long a little short but none the less can't wait for REC 2 & 3

4 stars ""even my husband jumped in this one""

We all enjoyed this movie! It's almost a shame your attention is half spent reading the subtitles. But still a very good horror/terror movie. Be great to compare to it's american remake ‘quarantine’.

5 stars "First horror movie to scare me in 10 years."

the movie seems to start a little slow but its all part of the suspense. it builds up to one hell of a rollercoaster ride. easily my favourite horror film of all time.

Also its not only a good horror film but the sequel is really good as well.
