Description

Welcome to the picture perfect town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut. Founded 1779. Population 9,973. And home of Lorelai and her 16- year old daughter Rory - the Gilmore Girls.

Willful single mom, Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham), and her equally determined teenage daughter, Rory (Alexis Bledel), are often mistaken for sisters. They both seem to cope with the same emotional rollercoaster’s, including Lorelai’s domineering parents and the joys and frustrations of the male gender… but when Rory’s attention turns from dreams of private school and Harvard to thoughts of boys and adolescent self-reliance, single mom Lorelai begins noticing more of her own rebellious youth-only 16 years ago-in Rory. This heartfelt, humorous drama appeals to young and old alike with its blend of traditional family issues and hip, contemporary attitude. Reacquaint yourselves with television's most appealing mother-daughter duo in this collectible six-disc DVD set, which contains all 21 episodes from the first season including the pilot episode.

5 stars "One of my best purcahces"
Gilmore girls is a show i've shunned for more then five years simply because of it's title "Gilmore Girls" and the assertion that it is a "chick flick" like show about silly little females and their obsessions with ponies.

Boy was I wrong. Gilmore Girls, while sometimes camp- is so much more of an amazing show then I ever imagined.

Eight episodes in, i'm already captivated. Each and every character has their own flaws and strengths, each are interesting. From the annoyingly sarcastic french hotel waiter, to the scruffy but funny coffee shop owner (Luke) and finally to thirty two year old single mother Lorelai Gilmore a quirky, upbeat woman- Lauren Graham plays "to a T". Such humor resonates from this character, you have to love her.

This is a show that you won't enjoy if you can't read between the lines.

Many inspiting themes extend through the episodes. The most prominent one is how families can either "work well" together or "destroy" each other.

This is shown through the estranged relationship Lorelai has with her parents (who disowned her when they found out she was pregnant with her daughter, Rory, sixteen years ago). It is also shown through the strong friendship Lorelai and Rory share both as mother and daughter and best friends- an amazing relationship one can only hope to have with their parents.

Season one so far is inspiring, funny, full of anecdotes and double meanings, witty dialogue and heaps of"fun" for lack of a better term. Wonderful acting, amazing dialogue and all around entertaining. I'd recommend it. And at only $39.99 it's a bargain.

I have ordered the second season.
