David Hasselhoff stars as Lt. Mitch Buchannon, supervisor of the world’s most beautiful lifeguard unit as they keep the beaches safe for vacationers. Frequently he must take action to save them from the raging seas and from the raging tempers that sometimes flare up between the young guards in this stressful job.
Baywatch premiered in April 1989 and enjoyed a successful run throughout the �90s before coming to an end in 2001. The show took the role of the lifeguard and completely transformed it, adding adventure, excitement and sex appeal to an occupation that seemed an unlikely basis for a TV show.
David Hasselhoff filled the lead role of Lt. Mitch Buchannon and while a bevy of curvaceous beauties stood by his side, including Pamela Anderson, who played CJ Parker for five seasons (debuting in Season 2), other notable names such as Erika Eleniak, Billy Warlock, Kelly Slater, John Allen Nelson and Peter Phelps donned the infamous red swimsuits in the first season of Baywatch.
