Description

Forty years after the Cylon Wars, humanity's deadliest enemies have reemerged with a vengeance. In a sudden, devastating nuclear attack, the Cylon robots - who have now taken human form - wipe out billions of people. Only a ragtag fleet of Colonial forces is left to shepherd humanity's few survivors to safety. Commander William Adama (Edward James Olmos), a veteran of the Cylon Wars and the highest-ranking military officer left alive, reactivates the Battlestar Galactica to once again face his greatest nemeses. His son, Lee (Jamie Bamber), call sign "Apollo," joins the fight alongside the fleet's best pilot, Kara Thrace (Katee Sackhoff), call sign "Starbuck." With the president and most of his senior cabinet killed in the attack, Secretary of Education Laura Roslin (Mary McDonnell) is sworn in as the new President of the 12 Colonies of Kobol. As Adama and Roslin debate whether to fight or flee, the Cylons launch a sneak attack on the new president's ship.

5 stars "Forget the original - this Battlestar is Galactically great!"

Boy did I hate the original series. STAR WARS wannabe 70's plastic sets sub-STAR TREK pap… but then along comes this totally revamped & reimagined BATTLESTAR GALACTICA. Don't like Sci-Fi? No problem! Great acting, great characters, great story, great script. Love Sci-Fi? You're in for a treat! Great effects in a great tale well told. This series has it all – drama, romance, robots, sexy cylons & kick-ass special effects. If you loved Joss Whedon's FIREFLY (& the spin-off movie SERENITY) then BATTLESTAR is even better (though not as funny!) The best show on TV? Probably. The best Sci-Fi series ever? Most definately.

4 stars "Good"

Most reakes of TV shows are bad. But this gave that view a kick in the teeth with this excellent re-imagining of 1978's Battlestar Galactica. The characters are well fleshed out, as well as some mystery surrounding them. Well worth a watch.

5 stars "Outstanding pilot movie"

This was a outstanding pilot movie to the four season sci fi drama/action series. This movie is key to understanding the complex plot and characters in the seasons of battlestar that follows.

It is simply a must get for a scifi fan.
9/10.
