Edgier and racier than its predecessor, Battlestar Galactica 2004 is a complete re-imagining of the 1970s series – upping the ante on the action, adventure and drama that made the original so popular. The groundbreaking story of man versus machine remains, but this time, the Cylon robot is no longer a recognisable enemy… it can move among man.
With the 12 colonies of man virtually destroyed in the climax of a hundred-year war with the Cylon empire, President Roslin (Mary McDonnell) and Commander Adama (Edward James Olmos) gather up the few humans left on the twelve worlds and embark on a journey to find the mythical planet Earth, the supposed thirteenth colony of mankind. Battlestar Galactica 2004 gives new life to the stories and ideas that were at the heart of the original series, with a compelling plot, breathtaking special effects and riveting, action-packed adventure, speaking to both long-time fans and a new generation of admirers.
Let me admit it straight off – I HATED the original TV series. Ugh! Yeuch! Hated it. So when this new version popped up I didn't hold out much hope… but boy oh boy was I wrong! This is simply one of the best TV series ever. Not strictly for Sci-Fi fans (although if you loved the likes of FIREFLY you'll love this!) – this is quality drama with great writing, superb characters, great effects and wonderful production values. It's great – but be warned – it's HIGHLY addictive and once you start watching it's hard to stop. If you liked the James Cameron movies TERMINATOR 1 and 2 and Joss Whedon's FIREFLY TV show and SERENITY movie then it's a dead cert you'll love this amazing show… and it's got a sexy cyborg too and constant use of the “F”-word… only here it's cleverly become “Frak!” Frakking A! Adz
A great TV series, this is the ultimate box set for it, comes in an aesthetically pleasing case with soft foam in the middle cushioning the DVDs themselves. As for the series itself, definitely worth the watch, drama, war, action, mystery, it's everything in 1.
I had seen the mini-series and knew I liked it but wow. The only thing wrong with it is that it took me a week to watch and during that time my daily productivity dropped to probably 5%. Yes it is that good, Yes you should get it, and Yes it is time well spent.
Battlestar Galactica is full of movie quality effects and a story that keeps you coming back for more hence the forth session witch wasn't originally planned but by far the most exciting.
this is a must own for any Sci-Fi buff
You can’t compare Battlestar with Star wars or Star trek (movies), although it does have many similarities to both it has its own feel and is a masterpiece in its own right.
I love my box set of Battlestar Galactica. It was such a great price.
