37.38% of people buy Battlestar Galactica - Season 4: Part 1 (4 Disc Slimline Set) and Battlestar Galactica - Season 4: Part 2 - The Final Season (4 Disc Set) ~ DVD.
This is the stunning first half to the Final Season of one of televisions greatest shows.
With a name like ‘Battlestar Galactica’ people automatically associate the show with other “geeky” shows such as ‘Star Terk’ and ‘Stargate SG1’, this is a HUGE misconception. While the show might be based in a future with robots and spaceships this show is much more grounded and character focused than the shows listed above. The show uses real diseases (such as Cancer) and real threats (such as Atom bombs) to draw the audience closer and make a much more believable show and future.
The steaks are higher than ever this season with 4 of the final 5 Cylons being revealed at the end of last season and the return of a lost pilot. The search for Earth is set to hyperdrive this season with devastating result and a devilishly clever cliff-hanger to keep you talking until the next half.
Now what people don't know about this DVD set is that it includes the made-for-tv movie ‘Battlestar Galactica: Razor’ (which is currently being sold separately for more than this set [$39] and has the exact same features) and the 10 episodes. This is fantastic value and is a must have set!
Ok I know its not really the end of the series but due to the writers strike in the USA it is the best we have for now. This slightly shortened season puts BSG right back up there as the top sci-fi show of the decade. The storyline is fast paced and each episode follows on from the other. There are none of the filler character driven episodes we came to expect from season 3. Thats not to say we lose the character development and there are some serious bombshells dropped in this season. The budget has also been stepped up and the visual effects would not be out of place in a hollywood blockbuster. Just check out the epic battle at the start of the 1st episode. In short this season is fast paced breath taking edge of the seat stuff. Yep I am a fan and wasn't overly impressed with season 3 but seriously guys and gals this is the Battlestar Galactica season you've always wanted. Buy it and watch it without the million tv adverts!
First off about the set itself, for those considering purchasing, it should be noted that it includes the extended version of “RAZOR” with most of the Special Features. This as well as the first ten episodes of Season 4 (split due to the writers strike) make a great purchase.
The Special Features for Season 4, are deleted scenes for each episode. As is often the case with TV shows, most of these are extended scenes which were cut for time and make for good viewing (unlike movies where they're cut for being superfluous). There is a Sneak Peak for Part 2, but its really just a teaser.
The show itself has returned to the style of Season 1 with story arcs extending over many episodes instead of the capsulised type stories insisted on by studio execs (who are these guys!) through Seasons 2 and 3.
Throughout the Season the BSGs main characters are thrown into complex moral, ethical, personal, and religous issues. Sprinkle this with action, even better effects than previous seasons, stellar performances from most the cast, and this is a show that stands alone. I cannot wait to see the conclusion, although I don't want it to end!
