"OK but with some drawbacks"
Boxee box works fine with a clean and straightforward interface. But I have encountered some problems.
Setup was hopeless with the boxee unable to create an account (wouldn't accept a password and the only feedback was that it was “Not Valid”) and eventually had to create an account from a computer (using that same password) and then log in using that. Then it took a couple of tries to update its firmware as it disconnected from the network and would not reconnect without being restarted.
Scanning local media seems to be patchy when dealing with deep file trees, with it apparently giving up and pretending it has found everything. When it works though it's painless and the results are impressive.
The device is very much focused at the average consumer with an easy to use interface at the cost of having limited controls on just what the boxee is downloading and other customisation. You'll need to be mindful of those data caps as you'll be hard pressed to get boxee to be frugal with resolution selection.
All in all you'll be hard pressed to put together something with similiar capabilities at the price and if your smart about your usage it's a pretty nifty device. Recommended for those who aren't technically inclined but want to watch stuff from there computer/internet on there tv, just make sure you have an idea what 720p 1080p and streaming mean for your internet usage, otherwise you'll get stung the first couple of months.
NB: Also for those who care it has a pretty horrible privacy policy and no user control on just what data you're sending. Having said that if you use facebook your already in that boat so that won't worry the average consumer.
