This documentary film is beautifully shot and tells the devastating story of the depletion of our glaciers. The rapid shrinkage is frightening. This decline effects the planet on a large scale as you will discover if you buy this unbelievable film. The journey the photographer goes through to get this footage is nothing short of astounding.
In Chasing Ice, James Balog – photographer, father, and adventurer, was an initial climate change skeptic. Yet his growing love of photographing the surreal beauty of ancient ice formations lead him to realise the reality of how fast our planets ice formations are changing – and the need to capture it on film to convince others as to the nature of the change. With considerable difficulty he establishes the Extreme Ice Survey, and in the process captures some of the most spectacular and alarming footage.
This is challenging for skeptical arguments. For the rest of us, the alarm is sounding – tectonic change has arrived.
Chasing Ice is an award winning 2012 documentary following National Geographic photographer James Balog and his Extreme Ice Survey as they capture a multi year record of glaciers and the effects of climate change.
The planet is changing… right before our eyes..
Follow National Geographic photographer James Balog across the Arctic as he deploys time-lapse cameras designed for one purpose: to capture a multi-year record of the world's changing glaciers. As frightening and fascinating as it is breathtakingly beautiful, CHASING ICE is a hymn to our changing planet, and a plea for its salvation.
