Call of Duty: Black Ops reviews

Single Player – Mind-Blowing – 10/10 Set during the Vietnam and Cold War era, this game delivers on so much more than any other Call of Duty game could have ever hoped, the ludicrously in-depth storyline ranges from Fighting off the NVA in the trenches of Vietnam, flushing out the Viet-Cong from the Jungles, Villages and Mountains of Vietnam and Silently infiltrating a Soviet communications sub-station to gather valuable Intel, to meeting and receiving assassination orders from the President himself, Mr John F. Kennedy. Combine all of that with the signature cinematic experience of Call of Duty, and you have one kick-ass single player.

Multiplayer – more of the same, but with some nice additions – 9/10 The hugely popular multiplayer that many would call the main part of a Call of Duty game does not fail to deliver either. More of the same old gameplay that made the franchise famous, made more interesting with the addition of a few details, such as the new Emblem Editor, which allows the player to fully customise a unique emblem that can be displayed to all other players, and can be ‘printed’ on the side of your weapon. Although some may find editing their emblem boring and others will be just plain immature with it, I find this to be a very innovative and welcomed addition to the CoD Multiplayer Experience. Another nice addition is the currency system “CoD Points”. These can be used to purchase new weapons, emblems, attachments and perks, but they are mainly used to gamble with in ‘wager matches’ which feature some innovative game types that are fun to play. Also with the addition of a few new Killstreak rewards, Weapons, Perks and Maps, this game was sure to attract the masses of Call of Duty fans and more with this deep, rewarding multiplayer.

Zombies – A fun add-on, with hours of entertainment – 7/10 A nice addition to the overall game, very similar to the “Zombies” mode seen in Cod: World at War, this is sure to provide hundreds of hours of zombie slaying action for you and your friends. In fact, with some work, and some kind of storyline, CoD “Zombies” could easily become a multi-million dollar gaming release by itself.

I have to say, the campaign is amazing. The Zombie mode is amazing (I have the hardened edition) But the multiplayer AGAIN feels like I've been let down, that they're learnt nothing. It's like they didn't even try. Sure everything that contributes to the experience is great but the actual gameplay is a letdown. I feel like I'm playing Call of Duty 4 all over again, it's THAT bad. I sure hope they make a patch or two to improve things.

Prefect Game just the way I thought it would be, just a little glitchy but I don't mind.

• online splitscreen multiplayer, love it

This is an awesome game, but what makes it even awesomer is that Mighty Ape is selling and they do overnight shhipping! I ordered at 3.00pm and got it the next morning! Thanks heaps Mighty Ape.

It is an intense realistic game good for people that like shooters or any gun game

Stop hating on this game, it has alot more to it than other COD titles. ‘OMG, graphics are not as good.. Games ruined’. Seriously, if thats the way you feel, why are you playing these games? The graphics were tuned down a little for more of other things, like customization. Anyway, I really enjoy this game. Has alot of fun and interesting aspects to it. Id highly recommend it

This is one of the fews war games I have brought and not sold and not sold the next week. I believe this is the best game ever made!

The Multiplayer Will Keep You Entertained Until MW3

This game is good in ways better graphics but I still beleive mw2 is better. I like zombies though thats really cool but I think they could have inproved it but still a very good game

This game is Hardly Realistic but I guess thats just the COD series “UNREALISTIC” and “FAKE” but if you like fast paced gaming this is for you

Yes this game is an improvement from World at War, but to be honest I'd rather play COD 1 over this. The added zombie feature is “good” but it wasn't worth the money I paid nor the little time I spent on it to finish the campaign. I must admit the Veteran difficulty is quite a challenge and will keep me going yet overall Treyarch still let me down.

Treyarch know how to ruin a title, is nothing but World at War with some slightly updated graphics. All the hype and the game is average at best.

The best shooting game with good graphics, add a chainsaw to the zombies for extra excitement!

This is one of my favorite games and is the most realistic of all.

Probably one of the best online game of the year for console, a lot of challenges to try your hand at and plenty of people in NZ that play so you wont be having super laggy games

If Modern Warfare2 tickled your fancy then BlackOps is a sure explosion of excitement for all ages! There is so much to do in one game – Campaign, online gaming, Zork, to Zombies and Slit Screen against computer bots to learn the guns and stages. You can never get bored with this game! It's a grantee to stay inside the PS3

Great game but too easy to clock took be about 15 hours. But still very fun to play online. And very fast shipping!

Good story line graphics, I found the average I was expecting a lot more (trey-arc) gameplay, compared to MW2 this game is still in the stone age with the game play. Everything you do in the game is scripted. That's why I gave it a average

A nice package. The campaign is disappointing, but zombies are amazing and the multiaplyer is much more balanced than Modern Warfare 2 and funner than World at War. Definitely worth a purchase.

Zombie mode is the best on this whole game. Just be warned this isnt made by the people who made MW2 so will never live up to that standard of game but zombies kept me going for endless hours. Multiplayer has a few things that could be fixed to make the game flow alot better. Campaign was short and sweet, couldve been better.

The call of duty franchise has come along way from what it was back in 2003, this WWII epic has blossomed into now what be call the best online multiplayer experience ever. This package includes the best any call of duty game has to offer with an explosive single player campaign to the best most feature rich multiplayer. Let's not forget Nazi Zombies, this mode is awesome because you defend the pentagon from herds of flesh eating zombies but that's not the only part you play as historical figures such as John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon. Lastly you earn Cod points from all the online multiplayer modes you play, then the best part you can gamble these points in fun edge of your seat wager matches. These matches are free for all death matches with a twist for one you start off with a pistol and you progress up tiers of weapons and if you get knifed you get set back a tier, this is called gun game.

Wasn't a fan of MW2 at all but this game is superior in most aspects. Single Player is best of the series, multiplayer is more balanced and fair despite a few hiccups and zombies is just as fun as ever. You'll sink so many hours in the online. Its worth your cash.

Call of duty black ops is a great game, with an epic campaign and sees the welcome return of zombie mode. Multiplayer excellent. Highly recommend to fans of FPS and the call of duty franchise. Well worth every penny

I bought Black Ops mainly for its online multiplayer… Which is awesome. It has fixed many of Modern Warfare 2's errors. And the story mode is easily an improvement on MW2's attempt, you can actually follow whats going on and enjoy yourself to.

This game is an awesome game from Treyarch and activision!! From multiplayer online to bots an awesome campaign and Zombies OMG!!!

My favourite part was the zombies. Having map packs coming at $30 there is so much you can do. The multiplayer was definitely better than modern warfare (infinity ward cant get the spawns right). The campaign was great fun as well and came with a LOT of quotes used from real life.

My son purchased this game and is really pleased with it, the graphics are really good and loves the challenges through out the game.

Awesome game and great for online gaming

If you don't want tactics and just want to literally sit down and shoot stuff then this is the best game to do it with. It lacks the complexity of Battlefield games which for some may be a negative but for others is a positive.

It has an average story however the multiplayer and zombies mode are both incredibly fun, intuitive and addictive. Definately a good game to buy and it is cheapest on mighty ape, there is literally no place I could find that had it for a cheaper price.

Love the maps, Love the guns, Love this game

Single Player Campaign, Three Multiplayer game types and of course the Zombie challenge that you can play solo or with up to three other players, this game offers a lot. My favourite being the Zombie challenge, this can go on for hours.

I definitely recommend buying this game if you are into Third Person, Military games.

Probably the best COD game to come out yet. Love the maps, love the guns and ESPECIALLY love the zombies. Cant wait for the next treyarch edition.

This is a great game and features some very cool multiplayer modes such as zombies and deathmatch. Recommend to anyone who likes shooters.

Well at first I hated the ‘COD’ series scorning it and favouring other titles like Battlefield and Medal Of Honour, after all my mates buying it I decided to… and what a damn well brilliant game it is!!! gameplay, graphics, storyline and multi-player are great as well as the customization and zombie mode. MUST HAVE UNTIL COD 3 2011–12

I don't play it myself I brought it for my Boyfriend … He loves it!!! And yes I never would have brought it from Mighty Ape if they hadn't priced matched it to less then the cheapest price I found. Thank you Mighty Ape.. Will be doing more price matches in the future.

Very Good game. Online is great as usual but levels with re-spawning enemies make some parts extremely difficult and detract from the fun and realism.

If you are looking for a party shooter this is it.

• 2 player online is a nice touch
• Gun Game (Never gets old)
• Sticks and stones (Adrenaline rushing game)
• Zombies (Co-op on another level)

Graphics could use a buff but game play is definately worth while.

Take all the best bits of Call of Duty and put them all in one game – That's black ops. Excellent campaign and story even if short, 4 way zombie killing from the beginning of the game. Graphocs un real, no real clipping issues, and still the same kind of fun your accustomed to. Part with your hard earned money for this title

Good game bought for the purpose of multiplayer, pretty average graphics but apart from that different style of play and plenty of extras.
