This “WORLD IN UNION” – “RUGBY WORLD CUP 2011 – THE OFFICIAL ALBUM” CD, is marvellous since its first to the last song.

I was excited especially when listening the songs sung by Hayley Westenra, Katherine Jenkins (from both I've got CDs) and Bryn Terfel.

The 2011 version of “World In Union” is excellent in my opinion.

I also was excited with the “Land of My Fathers – Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau” (Welsh Anthem), the “Ireland's Call – The Official World Cup song og the IRFU” (Irish Anthem),the “Scottish Medley – featuring Flower Of Scotland” (is one of a number of songs which unofficially fulfil the role of Scottish Anthem, along with the older “Scots Wha Hae”, “Scotland the Brave” and “Highland Cathedral”. It was written by Roy Williamson of the folk group “The Corries”. Refers to the victory of the Scots, led by Robert the Bruce, over England's Edward II at the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314), the “Jerusalem” (a classical music piece called really “And did those feet in ancient time”, as this is a short poem by William Blake from the preface to his epic Milton a Poem, one of a collection of writings known as the Prophetic Books. Today it is best known as the anthem “Jerusalem”, with music written by “Sir Hubert Parry” in 1916) and of course the “God Defend New Zealand” (the “New Zealand” Anthem sung superbly by “Hayley Westenra”).

Definitely I recommend this CD to all fans of RUGBY UNION and MUSIC, which always accompanies this wonderful sport and the people who practice it worldwide. The RUGBY UNION and MUSIC can go hand in hand.

Description

This album open and closes with ‘World In Union’ (exception of the bonus Haka track) – which has been adopted as the global anthem for all Rugby World Cups. This Rousing theme has become the only enduring official song for a major international sports event and is recorded anew for each tournament; this year's choice being the hosting nation's own Hayley Westenra.

The 24-year-old singer follows in the footsteps of another of the country's most celebrated singers, fellow New Zealander Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, who topped the charts with her version for the 1991 World Cup.

The World In Union album continues with 20 more stirring tracks from around the globe, featuring the world's most successful singers, that will both unite and inspire.

The 2011 Rugby World Cup will be the largest sporting event ever to be held in New Zeland, with around 70,000 visitors expected to flock from overseas and World In Union 2011 is the perfect soundtrack for the event.
