I must admit, before I went to see TRON (which I was coerced into), I really had little knowledge about the film or its music score. Walking into it and expecting at best a mediocre attempt at reproducing a now classic concept, I was more than presently surprised. The movie boasted a strong plot, brilliant visual effects and strong characters. However, what impressed me the most by far, was the soundtrack.
It was superbly catchy and perfectly immersive with the storyline. I remember detecting a note of familiarity in the style of music (reminiscent of a duo I used to listen to) as I watched the film. I was absolutely delighted to find out that the same duo I had remembered from my younger days had also composed this score. Daft Punk remain, to this day, to be one of my favourite electronic music bands of all time. If you listen to this magnificent piece, there is absolutely no doubting why.
The music maintains a subtle balance of rhythm and beat required to produce harmonic digital sound. It successfully captures every aspect of TRON: Legacy in beautiful clarity. The complete score also had input from famous modern-day composers such as Harry Gregson-Williams (Metal Gear) and Hans Zimmer (The Lion King).
Not only would I recommend this original soundtrack to any fan of Daft Punk or the TRON universe, but anybody keen of electronic/dance music.
