… “I know that I want to produce beautiful music, music that does things to people that they need. Music that will uplift, and make them happy…All a musician can do is get closer to the sources of nature, and so feel he is in communion with the natural laws”~ John Coltrane 1962
For many, John Coltrane is a musical and spiritual icon. By the time of his death from liver cancer in 1967, John Coltrane had left most of the listening world behind. Only now is it beginning to catch up. The tenor saxophonist evolved his style from bebop through hard bop to create some of the most intrepid and intense music in jazz. Here we celebrate the very best of his late 1950s work on two glorious CDs.
