NZ’s distinctive Pacific Reggae sound is reaching shores as far away as Jamaica and the US, and with the title of Pacific Music's Solo Male Artist of The Year, 750,000+ YouTube video views of smash hit ‘Slow Wind’, plus a string of radio hits in his wake, breakthrough Reggae/R&B artist Swiss is undoubtedly at the forefront of this wave.
After the huge viral buzz from his self-released single and video ‘Slow Wind’, Swiss was signed to NZ label Dawn Raid and has spent the last two years touring the globe, releasing hits and working on his debut full-length album. The result is ‘Lucky Man’; a double disc package featuring twelve new songs plus a bonus disc of covers and hits lifted from the Slow Wind EP.
First single ‘If Tomorrow Never Comes’, sees Swiss joined by spirited and soulful Jamaican starlet Etana for what turned out to be a truly international effort; the riddim was laid down in Kingston at the Marley Family’s legendary Tuff Gong Studio with engineer Shane Brown, before Swiss and Etana recorded the vocals and the video – set against the dramatic scenery of Auckland’s West Coast – back in New Zealand.
Swiss' ‘Lucky Man’ lives up to the hype ‘Slow Wind’ promised. Expect big things from this exciting rising star.
