Herbs came together 30 years ago this year, in a time of societal upheaval, Maori awakening and land rights struggles, a global shift in indigenous consciousness, and all against the background of Muldoon’s vice-like hold on power and later a Springbok rugby tour which divided the nation.
In recent years contemporary groups like Fat Freddys Drop, Katchafire and House of Shem (led by former Herbs member Carl Perkins) have cited Herbs as inspirational pioneers.
For this 30th anniversary compilation, 16 classic Herbs originals have been compiled by founder member Dilworth Karaka, and also included is a new version of Sensitive To A Smile by Hollie Smith.

This CD is a fantastic compliation of some of the greatest “kiwi” songs that you put on, sit back and remeber the “good old days” – when you bought beer in a flagon and everyone on young and the restless were STILL young and restless! – where the grazy guy with the mole was on play school and the love boat was a much loved show – damn Isaac was a hoot… highly recommend this CD for any collection.
