Meat Loaf, the man responsible for the third biggest selling album in history (Bat Out of Hell) is set to release his brand new album curiously title Hang Cool Teddy Bear. This is Meat Loaf's 11th studio album in an illustrious career that spans over four eventful decades.
The album features an all star cast; it was produced by Rob Cavallo (Green Day, Kid Rock, Goo Goo Dolls, My Chemical Romance, Avril Lavigne, Dave Matthews) and has contributions from guest musicians and singers including Jack Black, Brian May (Queen), Justin Hawkins (The Darkness), Steve Vai, American Idol winner Kara Dioguardi and British thespian and House star, Hugh Laurie who plays the piano on one track. The result is a new take on the classic Meat Loaf sound, and promises to be a huge album in 2010.
Hang Cool Teddy Bear is a concept album based around a short story by Hollywood writer Killian Kerwin in which a man is lying wounded in an unnamed war, his best friend dead next to him. In this near death state he experiences, not his life flashing backwards before his eyes, but instead his life flashing forward into a number of possible future situations, all linked with the presence of a woman named Jenny. The story concludes with the character coming round and finding himself in hospital discovering that Jenny is the nurse tending his injuries. At this moment of realisation, the alarms on the machines sound along with a cry of 'code red' and his life flashes backwards before his eyes. The reader is left not knowing
whether the character saw his possible future and dies or goes on to live it.
The first track taken from the album is 'Los Angeloser', a classic upbeat Meat Loaf sound that provides the perfect introduction to an album that will, without doubt, excite fans old and new.
