Pencil in Hand

'Pencil in Hand, 20th-Century Drawings' presents a considered selection of more than 100 drawings, providing a wide-ranging view of art from the past century, both from Spain and abroad. All the works form part of the 20th Century Drawing Collection, which belongs to the FUNDACION MAPFRE. The vocation for collecting of FUNDACION MAPRE, one of Spain's most prestigious cultural institutions, has increased year by year with works by artists such as Pablo Picasso, Joan Miro, Salvador Dali, Edgar Degas, Fernand Khnopff, Gustav Klimt, Egon Schiele, Henri Matisse and George Grosz. The catalogue is organised chronologically and includes an introductory text by Pablo Jimenez Burillo, the curator of the show and the general director of the FUNDACION MAPFRE's Cultural Institute. Every work reproduced includes a commentary by a renowned specialist in the work of the artist in question. The publication is completed with a set of biographies of the artists featured, as well as an extensive bibliography.
