She is the author of Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, Emma, Persuasion, and Mansfield Park. Marilyn Butler is rector of Exeter College, Oxford. She has also edited Maria Edgeworth's Castle Rackrent and Ennui for Penguin Classics.
