The universe is under siege. Every fifty thousand years, a race of sentient machines invades our galaxy to harvest all organic life-forms. They are the Reapers.
Two people who know the truth are desperately searching for a way to stop the cycle: Navy admiral David Anderson and his partner, Kahlee Sanders. They have uncovered grisly evidence proving that the Reaper threat is real. But in so doing they have exposed the machinations of Cerberus, a secretive paramilitary organization, and its mysterious leader, the Illusive Man-putting David and Kahlee in mortal danger, for Cerberus will stop at nothing to protect its secrets.
But along the way, they find an unlikely ally in Gillian Grayson, a young woman with extraordinary powers. Once the subject of horrifying scientific experiments, Gillian is now free-and beginning to master her deadly abilities. But after learning that Cerberus was responsible for the death of her father, Gillian swears vengeance against the group and the Illusive Man-threatening to unravel everything Kahlee and David are fighting for.
Bout this, got half way through and BAM! shut it again.. it's really that bad (filled with Lore mistakes/stuff ups with continuety etc)
Bioware are doing a revised/fixed version as we speak (much to Dietz's delight I would say..lol), so wait for the ‘patched’ version : 1.2 should be out soon :)
A lot of people were expecting this to be another excellent novel based upon the highly-popular video game series “Mass Effect”, however with a new author at the helm, this has turned out to not be the case.
The book is full of both grammatical, mythological and canonical errors. BioWare have been aware of this and have promised to have the book re-editted to fix what errors have been made. For the time being, hold off on purchasing.
If you hate Mass Effect and love massive gaping plot holes, Lore and Canon violations and glaring inconstancies then this book is for you! In what can only be a dire warning of the low quality of Mass Effect 3 this book, written by the guy who wrote the Halo Flood book (so yeah) somehow managed to get released without editing or any kind of Quality Assurance at all.
Follow the adventures of Anderson and Sanders again as they act out of
character and explore the world of not quite Mass Effect looking for a teen aged
biotic boy and girl. One of whom is out for revenge. Guess which.
Familiar characters from the Mass Effect game universe stumble around the pages
of this book wrapping their mouths around unintelligently written hackneyed
dialogue in a plot line that would remain rancid even if and when BioWare clean
up all the canon and lore violations, which they have promised to do. I remind
readers that they also promised Mass Effect 3 would be a brilliant culmination
of the series in which your decisions would determine the end. And that they
would fix the face import bug.
Mass Effect fans will enjoy this despite there being mistakes to the lore as
well as a few spelling errors eg. “cereal killer”.
Overall this is good value but definitely keep an eye out for the revised
version that Bioware plan to help out with.
