The astonishing final novel in Richelle Mead's epic series! Murder. Love. Jealousy. And the ultimate sacrifice. Now, with Rose on trial for her life and Lissa first in line for the Royal Throne, nothing will ever be the same between them.
About the Author
Richelle Mead lives in Seattle and is the author of the international bestselling Vampire Academy series. When not writing, she can be found watching bad movies, inventing recipes, and buying far too many dresses.
Last Sacrifice is a great conclusion to the awesome Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead. Wonderfully written and 1000 times better than Twilight!
Last Sacrifice had me hooked in from the very beginning. I'm not going to go into to much detail because I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but I am going to say that there were parts of the story that I suspected all the way through the series and a few surprises!
The book got me on the edge of my seat every second, as this book was very thriling and breath-taking!!
I would have liked to see a bit of the Rose, Dimitri, Adrian love triangle played out but it was a good way to wrap up the series.
I wish I could give this book more than 5 stars!
Richelle Mead has really outdone herself with this one.
Last Sacrifice is the last of the very popular Vampire Academy series- and it is
the best by far!
Like all her books and twists in ways you don't expect, almost forcing you to
keep reading so you can find out “Who killed the Queen?”
After several years and five books, the end of Rose's story has arrived. To begin, I opened this book feeling a slight twinge of sadness that was almost over–but at the same time, a huge feeling of excitement that we were finally going to get all the answers we were waiting for.
“Last Sacrifice” certainly does not disappoint. It picks off with Rose in jail being framed for murder. Not only does she have to prove her innocence by finding out who really killed the Queen, but also find out who the lost Dragomir is in an epic race against time.
Unsurprisingly, Rose manages to break out of jail thanks to her loyal group of friends, but is now a fugitive. To make matters more complicated, she is now on the run with Dimitri–an unlikely accomplice given his recent admonitions of not wanting to be with her. Yet this gives us plenty of time to enjoy the banter and various exchanges between Rose and Dimitri which we haven't seen since “Shadow Kiss,” and is a much welcome relief. It is a pleasant reminder of what the earlier Vampire Academy books were like, which was missing in the last book. The crux of the series has always been Rose's guardian duties to Lissa and her complicated relationship with Dimitri, and this book had plenty of both. Although she is not at Court, Rose is able to habitually slip into Lissa's head through the bond and can see what's going on with her, Christian, Adrian and the gang, which is especially essential now that the election of the next monarch is approaching and the tension between the Royal families is greater than ever, making Lissa's need for her place on the Council more dire than ever.
The novel had a constant supply of surprise characters, twists, unpredictable moments, action and astonishing outcomes. Careful readers of the previous books will feel both triumph as their theories were proven correct and shock at unexpected developments. The novel ends this particular adventure of Rose and Lissa's excellently, as they get ready to take on whatever happens next. Which knowing Rose, is probably going to be good.
I can't wait for the spin-off series; there are still some unanswered questions that need to be resolved. Also I would love to know what happened to the guy Rose didn't choose, I am thoroughly ecstatic about the guy she did choose as they were meant to be together so for me this is definitely the happy ending rose deserves. :D
