Escaped from Arkham Asylum, villain deluxe Joker shoots Barbara "Batgirl" Gordon as part of his plan to drive her police commissioner father insane. Intending to prove that anyone can go mad after "one bad day" as he describes in his putative origin story, the Joker also kidnaps and torments Commissioner Gordon. But Gordon remains sane, and Batman recaptures the Joker-the two actually share a laugh at the ambiguous ending. With Barbara Gordon now a paraplegic, the story stands as a chilling profile of madness. The Killing Joke provoked fury among many readers who lamented the disposal of Barbara Gordon as a mere pawn to testosterone; yet Gordon reinvents herself later as superinfohacker Oracle, poster girl for disability empowerment (see Birds of Prey, LJ 7/08). "Brilliant Graphic Novel"
This really is a nice piece of work by Alan Moore and very cool artwork by Brian Bolland. It's a little on the short side, but still very nice. Not only is the story absolutely fantastic, and the artwork amazing; this edition of the book itself is stunningly beautiful. Underneath the dust jacket is a gilt purple imprint of the Joker's card indented into the smooth black covering on both sides of the book. It's very nicely finished. You can judge this book by its cover; it's just as amazing on the inside as it is on the outside!

"Actually not that funny to be honest"
One of the greatest Graphic Novels of all time, this recoloured deluxe
edition is a must have for any real Batman fan. Bolands excellent recolouring
adds drama and depth to an already incredible piece of work.
Seriously, just buy it.
"Sympathy to what joker used to be"
The story is well written, as you get sympathy towards joker's past. It gives you an insight to the “sane” mind of joker.
"Superb"
The Killing Joke is a truly great Batman book. While the plot itself is fairly straightforward, Alan Moore does a beautiful job of exploring the relationship between Batman and The Joker. Brian Bolland's art is definitely complimented by the Deluxe Edition's recoloring, giving it a more modern and darker feel than the original's colors.
