Description

Annabel Langbein is one of New Zealand’s best-loved food writers and the star of her own international TV series Annabel Langbein The Free Range Cook.

In The Free Range Cook, she showed audiences around the world how easy it is to cook sensational food using fresh seasonal ingredients from the garden of her rustic Wanaka cabin.

In Free Range in the City she brings the same down-to-earth approach to city living. This vibrant, modern new book showcases the way Annabel likes to cook for family and friends at her Auckland base.

Annabel has self-published 17 cookbooks and won international awards including the Gourmand World Cookbook Award for ‘Best in the World for Easy Recipes’ for her book Assemble - Sensational Food made Simple, and the Gourmand World Cookbook Award for ‘Best Entertaining Book in the World’ for Cooking to Impress - Without Stress.

Her books have been translated into multiple languages and have sold close to two million copies throughout Europe, North America and Australasia.

3 stars "Wee bit disapointed"

This book doesn't quite come up to the standard that Annabel Langbein set with Free Range in The Country. Still has some nice recipes. Remember this is my opinion only!

5 stars "Another great cookbook from Annabel Langbein."

I love this cookbook, just as good as ‘The Free Range Cook’. Beautifully presented photography, editorials and nice recipes. The padded hardcover is a great improvement.

2 stars "Disappointed"

Sorry Annabel, but this one doesn't quite cut it. I made the Lemon Coconut Cake and it was a total disaster. I follow recipes to the letter and never normally have any trouble. This cake cost me a fortune to make – it has a load of ingredients that you have to buy in especially. It made more than 1 1/2 times more icing than I needed (so big wastage of cream cheese and 4 cups of icing sugar!) But worst of all, was the cake just did not cook in 1 1/2 hours, and being a big solid type of cake you couldn't tell until you cut it open! I ended up throwing the whole thing in the bin and wasting hours and hours of my time, and loads of ingredients.

I would have thought all these recipes would have been tested, but now I am scared to try another large one like that.

5 stars "Ideal and perfect for city dwellers"

I enjoyed reading about life in the city and where to find the fresh produce at farmers markets etc. The perfect book for basic cooks and the more professional chefs among us.

5 stars "Once again Annabel delivers a great cook book. "

Love this book, even better than the last one. The glossy pages and loads of photos make this easy to follow, and looks great on the book stand. The recipes are easy to follow, using easy to find ingredients. Great for any beginners or experts alike.
