5 stars "Excellent gift!"

Bought this book as a Christmas gift for my Angel obsessed brother. He loved it! I had a look myself, the artwork is amazing, the storyline is well done and the whole item is very much worth it for yourself, of a gift.

5 stars "Angel & Spike go to a sci-fi fest, Gunn wakes, Drusilla returns."

Fan favourite Buffyverse writer of After the Fall, Brian Lynch finally returns to the fold. Juliet Landau who played the clairvoyant vampire on Buffy and Angel even joins him on the chilling non-linear Drusilla 2 parter. Brian Lynch really is a natural at writing Angel stories. He always gets the voices down so well even Joss Whedon thinks so. Not only that these post-After the Fall build on the repurcussions of the fall even further.

“Become What You Are” is a very provocative and confrontational story. It focuses on Gunn fighting his own personal demons. While trying to retain his humanity but resisting being manipulated to embrace his dark side as a former vampire. This story takes place a week after the coda issue of After the Fall. This only shows how Gunn was able to wake up out of his coma. Shake-ups, guilt and redemption fill this story. It also serves as an Epilogue to the After the Fall storyline.

The “Drusilla” two parter is next. It takes place during the last episode of Angel Season 5 and leads into After the Fall. This story is very non linear. Interpretation is more ambigious and its intriquing trying to figure it all out. Drusilla's story starts off a bit like a silent comic which turns into an crescendo of action. The art is wonderful and the colours bounce off the page. Juliet Landau really put alot of passion and inspiration into this obviously.

Lastly “Boys and Their Toys” is possibly one of the fun, hilarious but insightful stories of IDW's run on Angel. This would have been great if it was a televised episode. “Boys and Their Toys” reads like one episode when read together. Its quite a fresh idea having Angel and Spike attending a sci-fi fest, which isn't actually for pure recreation. Brian Lynch makes good use of exploring the repercussions of the events of “After the Fall”.
