Description

I love this movie. I went to the cinemas 5 times to watch this on the big screen. I have waited a long time to get it on blu-ray.
Johnny Rico is the all american graduate who joins the mobile infantry to get one up on his father. Little does he know what he is signing up for. The human race is threatened from another planet by hostile arachnid creatures and the military is sent in basically as fodder for the enemy. Their weapons are almost totally ineffective against the millions of bugs that come at them. Rico shines in battle and ends up taking over an elite squad.
The battles are massive, the effects are very good for a movie of its time, and their is tonnes of blood and dismemberment. The cut scenes where the military is trying to sell their cause to the public is very propaganda like and reeks of american patriotic attitudes, but it all comes together in this film. This sci-fi is not for the geeks, it was made for the red blooded men and women who love to get their annihilation groove on.
