Description
Gladiator director, Ridley Scott, returns to the epic canvas with Kingdom of Heaven, a film set during the Crusades of the 12th century. It tells the story of Balian of Ibelin (Orlando Bloom), a young blacksmith who finds himself thrust into a decades-long war. A stranger in a strange land, he serves a doomed king, falls in love with an exotic and forbidden queen and rises to knighthood. Ultimately, he must protect the people of Jerusalem from overwhelming forces while striving to keep a fragile peace.

"A visual treat from a visualist director"
Ridley Scott himself raved about the transfer for this blu, and he was right on the money: this is a gorgeous film to watch. The burnished gold of Baldwin's army rising from the desert; flaming rocks hurled by night into Jerusalem: such images are gloriously rendered.
The movie is of course the Director's Cut. Don't have anything to do with the theatrical release, truncated and inferior in every way.
The transfer was made using MPEG-2, which left little space on the disc for anything other than the picture. Don't get rid of your 4-disc SD “Definitive Edition” therefore, which is full of great extras. But don't hesitate to add this visual treat to your collection.
