One man saw it coming.
Will Smith stars in this sci-fi action thriller based on the classic short story collection by Isaac Asimov, and brought to the big screen by dynamic and visionary director Alex Proyas ("Dark City," "The Crow").
In the year 2035, robots are an everyday household item, and everyone trusts them, except one, slightly paranoid detective (Smith). Investigating what he alone believes is a crime perpetrated by a robot. The case leads him to discover a far more frightening threat to the human race.
There are some movies that fail to impress at the cinema, or in standard definition, but carry new authority in hi-def. This is just such a movie.
Alex Proyas fans (remember Dark City?) were doubtless hoping for more than the generic action flick I, Robot eventually becomes. But Proyas' trademark visual flair is well represented in the film's design, and is beautifully served by this transfer, arguably the best of the last year. Watching it – and hearing it, too (great lossless audio) – is a richly cinematic experience, and real compensation for the film's flaws.
Highly recommended.
Will Smith + sci fi is a great combo as always . A bigot who hates robots , but not for long . Its not the robot thats dangerous , its their creator . Intelligent , witty , highly entertaining and great sci fi .
