Firefly - The Complete Series (3 Disc Set) reviews

The little series that almost never was… Unfairly cancelled after 1 season, this is possibly one of the greatest Sci-fi series of late to have aired!

It's characters carry a charm and a flair rarely seen in modern TV, the stories are gripping and concentrate on the characters rather than what the special effects can do (though, it has to be noted: the special effects are of an excellent standard).

The series is set in a post civil war universe where our loveable rogue captain Malcolm Reynolds found himself on the losing side. After the war has ended, he buys a a small trading ship (Firefly class… hence the title) and begins his operations “out of the way” of the Alliance whenever possible.

Essentially, this is “cowboys and indians” in space, with an added element of a totalitarian regime thrown into the mix that our “heroes” (for lack of a better description) find themselves trying to avoid, tragically cut short due to the series cancellation, eventually the series concluded in the form of a full length movie called Serentiy, which kept the original cast together but muddled a few things around in order to conclude the series in a 2 hour special… watch, and prepare to be amazed!

If you haven't heard of Firefly, you have sadly missed out on one of the best Sci-Fi TV Shows to ever come out. It has one of the most passionate fan bases ever accumulated by a TV show and, for that reason alone, you should check it out.

And of course, now that it is in High Def Blu Ray, you have no excuse not to.
