"My name is Jim, but most people call me... Jim."
And while Blazing Saddles is deliriously funny, most people call it deliriously funnier, thanks to this special, extras-packed 30th-Anniversary Edition. Filmmaker, star and paddle-ball wiz Mel Brooks goes way out West and way out of his mind with a spiffy spoof set in an 1874 Old West where 1974 Hollywood is just one soundstage away – and where nonstop fun blasts prejudices to the high comedy heavens. Cleavon Little, Gene Wilder, Slim Pickens, Harvey Korman, Madelaine Kahn and more join for horseplay and horselaughs, making Blazing Saddles the #6 choice among the American Film Institute Top-100 Comedies. Give these out to the boys in lieu of pay. And enjoy.
It's still got it! It will leave you gutted from laughing the first time you experience a ride on one of these Blazing Saddles!
Fantastic transfer to Blu-Ray. Picture quality is excellent though some film grain is visible, but this only adds realism to the visuals. Soundtrack transferred to 5:1 but still predominantly through the centre speaker as it was possibly a mono track originally. Overall a successful transfer of what is a ground breaking comedy from Mel Brooks. Still hilarious after all these years.
Blu-ray continues to amaze me! It's like looking through a window, the
picture is fresh, clear, with a depth of colour that simulates 3D. The close-ups
are so natural, skin pores, whiskers, and skin colour makes this movie
enthrawling, you pickup so much more detail.
If you liked “Robin Hood – Men in tights”, then you'd appreciate this
earlier movie. No political correctness here – how refreshing! Silly one
liners and puns, suttle visual oddities (like cattle in the Saloon), farting
‘round the camp fire, they just don’t make 'em like they used too.
