From the film's brutal opening sequence, ‘Under the Red Hood’ tells the tale of Batman's struggle between doing what's right when everything seems to go wrong.
Surprisingly the film handles this extremely well, with great voice-acting from Bruce Greenwood as Batman and John DiMaggio as the Joker (whilst not as good as Hamill's version, he still holds his own with his own interpretation). The score is great, the animation engrossing and incredibly detailed.
But this film is dark. It even reaches to the heights of Nolan's films at points to this regard. Whilst the writing may suffer at points, this is a great Batman animated film that fans should definitely buy, and newcomers should take a look.
