“Nothing is True, Everything is Permitted”,I have played throughout the
entire campaign, as this eagerly anticipated instalment of the AC-Series has
been unleashed and has delivered 100% with the countless side quests, goals,
storyline and activities you have at being apart of creating!!!!
Presentation/Graphics:- 10/10
As far as the Graphical display and enviroment settings, character designs,
NPC's etc go The layout of Rome is captivating, from the landmarks to the
marketplaces down to the Romulus lairs and the people around Rome all have their
own unique style and status/background and cliques. I enjoyed spending time
just in between the countless objectives and side missions you receive to
explore and have a look at the surroundings while upgrading and taking the time
to mould Rome the way Ezio intends it to be. It should not be missed the
refreshing “lively” nature of the civilians and interactions with the
enviroment in Rome that you do have the chance to reshape.
This is presented well, the detail is amazing and the fact that Rome is
designed obviously to cater to your assassins style of roaming makes navigation
so much fun and cinematic! Your friends will sit and stare in awe as you glide
and swing through roof tops , hoping from horse to horse to assassinate guards
via horseback and its hard to explain but once you gain the feel for your
enviroment at times a split second comes naturally like a sixth sense to get you
out of a bind, they've really made it user-friendly to take on the life and role
of an assassin as you Master your craft. I personally feel the presentation is
flawless, the camera angles are neat and tidy (where as something like my
beloved Final Fantasy the latest instalment FFXIII had ALOT to be desired from
its camera work), and as far as the people and the buildings in Rome go
regardless of the fact that its ALL BASED in the one location in this third
installment nothing feels like “been there done that”.
Gameplay 9/10
This leads us into the question, it looks great, but how does it feel to
actually play through? Well its hard to say that any RPG player wont be
distracted by the brilliance of how well its set up. Now to summarise you have
your main memory triggers for Ezio that are layed out as standard from previous
AC games that you can undertake to achieve the main storyline however you will
usually find yourself immersed in the enviroment where youll notice a courtesan
in distress or a Romulus lair that will lead you one step closer to that
legendary armour or an assassination contract that triggers memories of Catarina
Sforza (which is a tragic love story to say the least, however very engaging to
be apart of!) , a Borgia stronghold that unlocks an additional potential
assassin to your brotherhood etc etc you get the point there. There are TONS of
stuff to do and objectives to meet although you may feel subjected to so many
things to do , it will NEVER be a chore they've designed this in various ways to
find the repetitive more exciting in a dynamic and as mentioned earlier
cinematic approach e.g: Ezio will have to track someone to obviously assassinate
the target but in order to do that he'll have to play as a guard and find your
way to that goal without pozing suspicion with the troops! Or Ezio's task will
be to achieve certain objectives via stealth killing but have to use your
assassins that youve been annointed the task of leading without being noticed by
the guards.
Now this needs special mention as I feel its such a fantastic addition to
the AC series I wonder if it will remain from the Brotherhood in AC 3? The
Assassins basically get given to you as rookies who you acquire by delivering
destruction to Borgia towers and settlements stationed around Rome, once doing
so it enables you to save certain individuals who have the potential to become
great assassins, in which you develop through missions around the world and/or
through combat. They are easily summoned and accessible at ALL times, and the
balance is right, sometimes they are not needed and sometimes they are called
upon to deliver a subtle kill when your in a jam on the side of a rooftop
dangling trying to avoid suspicion, to all out war when your completely
surrounded so their very handy. Their not invincible as facing Papal guards
especially if their not of Assassin rank can prove formidable (yes they do die!)
so you get what you put in with your leading the Brotherhood.
Now the weapons are sadly not too different from AC II, however the newly
upgraded ability for Ezio to chain combo kills is a added bonus and gives every
previous weapon a revitalized outlook on how to use em! Its been complained
about in the past that AC games are just counter counter counter, but you can go
on the aggressive with stringing together Taunting, kicks and decisive blows to
counter-attacking so theres nothing repetitive about it at all, and fighting is
always fun to engage enemies in multiple ways
The storylines and side stories which I feel create a more deeper
understanding of not only Ezios past but also the history behind the Assassin
Brotherhood and their war with the Templars. The reason I dont give a 10/10 is
because the Love Story missions for Catarina Sforza are much too short and wont
spoil the rest :P
Now I'd be inclined to give this an overall 4/5 (I wish I could do a
perfect but it has some short comings as already mentioned.)
I cannot mention the rest, as it may have curiosity spark too much interest
into but youll see for yourself once you play through, it is sadly shorter then
expected the closing events seem a bit too rushed I felt after enjoying the
spoils of everything in the game had to offer but I suppose that is
expected.
Overall its definetely a game worthy of anyones cabinet to hold as a keeper.
The voice acting is top-notch again I like many others got hooked on some
italian here and there repeating while engaged in the game very catchy!! Ezio is
older , wiser and very much in the position of power as you take control at
reshaping the whole of Rome under his Brotherhood dont miss out this opportunity
and take that Leap of Faith to invest in this classic!
