Sneak peek at All Blacks Rugby Challenge 2, out next month! Games

I had the pleasure of getting a sneak peek at the upcoming All Blacks Rugby Challenge 2 on Friday last week.

Using the foundations of it's original predecessor All Blacks Rugby Challenge, cosmetically there has been no major leap forward in the way it looks .What Sidhe have done though is focused on making huge improvements on gameplay so the gaming experience is much closer to the real thing – minus the injuries and laundry of course!

Some of the additions to gameplay include quick taps, quick lineouts, mauls from lineouts, interceptions, and contesting ball at the breakdown. If you sense that you are losing a ruck now you can remove players and return them to the defensive line. The number 8 now also has the ability to pick up the ball in scrums.

The game includes the highly anticipated British and Irish Lions 2013 Tour of Australia. Grant Nisbett and Justin Marshall return to the commentary team and given the games popularity in France, French language commentary from Eric Bayle and Thomas Lombard has been added.

The game was a blast to play, particularly when I intercepted the ball in my own half and made a mad dash for the try line… the defence was too good though and they took me down just short of the line – better luck next time. If you are a gamer and fan of Rugby it's a no-brainer this is a must-have!

All Blacks Rugby Challenge 2 is coming to PS3 and Xbox 360 next month. Pre-order the game now and score an exclusive All Blacks Keyring and All Blacks Wallet free with your order!

All Blacks captain Richie McCaw's autobiography The Open Side has just arrived into our warehouse and is shipping today. The book, written with Greg McGee, is the first and only book that McCaw intends to release!

“His stellar career began back in 2001 when he debuted against Ireland at the age of 20. Now, 11 seasons later, he is the most capped All Black in history, with 103 tests under his belt. A measure of McCaw's ability at the very highest level is the fact that he has been awarded the IRB's supreme prize as best player in the world on three occasions – 2006, 2009 and 2010. No other player has ever won the award twice. Unlike many other players of his generation, McCaw has shunned all advances to publish ‘interim’ books about his career. He has always said that he will do just one book… and now is that time.”

Order your copy of Richie McCaw's The Open Side before 4pm today for overnight delivery!

“Brownlie, Nathan, Tremain, Mourie, Kirkpatrick, Jones, Kronfeld…all products of rugby union's greatest loose forward factory. Now, though, a name stands alone. Richie McCaw has rightly taken his place at the top of tree – the greatest flanker ever to represent New Zealand and, on sheer results, the greatest captain international rugby has ever known.”

Richie McCaw has previously shunned all advances to publish interim books about his career. He has always said that he will do just one book… and now is that time!

Richie McCaw: The Open Side is scheduled to release on the October 9th, pre-order now and save $10.00 off the RRP!

Graham Henry and Piri Weepu biographies out next month! Books

Want some insight into two great All Blacks personalities?

Former All Blacks coach, Graham Henry, and scrum-half, Piri Weepu, are the subject of two books that are being released next month.

Graham Henry: Final Word by Bob Howitt

"After the All Blacks crashed out of the 2007 World Cup, humiliatingly at the quarter-final stage, Graham Henry thought his time as an international rugby coach was up. With his faithful coaching partners Wayne Smith and Steve Hansen, he would weather the storm and go on to make the All Blacks the most successful and entertaining team in the world, bringing absolute joy to the ‘stadium of four million’ when they claimed the Rugby World Cup in 2011, for which Graham would be knighted.

How they rebuilt the All Blacks, establishing a leadership group – the Magnificent Seven – developing the players’ mental strength and preparing for a Dan Carter ‘worst case scenario’ makes enthralling reading."

Piri: Straight Up: Cups, Downs & Keeping Calm by Piri Weepu

"Piri Weepu's story is one of the most fascinating New Zealand rugby stories ever told. Born into a strong rugby league family – Piri's brother Billy actually played for the Kiwis – Piri has risen to the very pinnacle of rugby union, while at the same time never losing his great love of the 13-man code.

This is more than a rugby story, though. This is a story of a little battler who has struggled with serious injury and fitness for a number of years, who has struggled to express himself because of an innate shyness, but who finally won over a nation on the greatest sporting stage."
