My favourite moment was watching Danyon Loader win one of his two Gold medals live at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics (I can't recall which one it was). I was working in Australia at the time, and my predominately Australian workplace had all stopped to watch the Aussies get another gold. Having the moment spoiled by a Kiwi? Priceless!

My favourite moment would be watching Paul McDonald and Ian Ferguson winning the K2 500m gold medal in 1984. A close second was Mark Todd winning his 2nd gold medal and the commentator saying, "That's 2 for Todd and Todd for 2."

It would have to be the the 4x100m freestyle swimming relay at the Beijing Olympics when the American swimmer caught the French swimmer on his last stroke to get another gold for Michael Phelps and another World Record. I still remember Phelps' reaction when it came up on the screen that they had won.

My favourite / most inspirational Olympic moment was during the Barcelona Olympics of 92' in which a man named Derek Redmond was a favoured medalist in the 400m sprint. During the semi-final he fell to the ground in agony around 200m into the race due to a torn hamstring, yet as race officials came to his aid, he pulled himself up and limped around the bend, to be greeted by his father that had forced himself through security to accompany his son. Together they finished the race to a standing ovation of over 60,000 spectators, and the moment was truly inspirational, and inspires me to push myself towards my goal of reaching the 2018 Commonwealth games in Brisbane in the 400m Hurdles. 2008 Beijing olympics single sculls rowing final: Mahe Drysdale, battling a stomach virus, leads the race, but fades with 250m to go as the illness takes its toll on his body but he doesn't give up, keeps on going & wins the bronze medal before collapsing (& puking his ring out). Has to be helped ashore & is attended to by medics but makes it to the medal ceremony - A true show of Kiwi toughness and determination!
