Have you ever dropped your phone? Had that moment of slow motion, where you watch it slip out of your hand and tumble towards its potential death?

Maybe it landed on carpet, maybe you had a protective case… but maybe not.

Otterbox knows how precious your phone is to you and what it's like to have one dented, cracked, or completely obliterated. That's why they built their cases to be the best protective cases on the market. It's also why they're giving you the chance to WIN your own dirt defying, scratch scorning, tumble thwarting, water withstanding, erosion expunging Otterbox case…

Here's an example from us:

During a trip to Waiheke Island I was checking out a really cool old well. There were some plants growing out of the side of the well that I thought would look great as my desktop wallpaper. As I was getting the perfect shot, my phone slipped from my hand and tumbled into the darkness. All I heard was the smash of it hitting the rocks below… I would LOVE a Galaxy S5 Glacier Commuter case please!

We're looking for the best “Oh No” moment on this one so check out the Mighty Otterbox Store to pick the right case for your potential new phone, then get writing in the comments below!

Eating a less than ideal meal of Watties spaghetti, my at peace state of mind was seized by what I witnessed in my back yard. A tornado of bees. Not the pitiful circles that a meager few fly's make in the centre of your living room, but hundreds of buzzing bees. My desires have shifted from inhaling a lazy lunch to attempting to take a photo of this unusual event. Rushed, frantic minds are unobservant minds. Well mine is, anyway. A finely chopped piece of firewood, left there by my beastly Irish Wolfhound, sits waiting for me right before I arrive at the door. My phone is in my right hand, spaghetti in my left and the wood below. Some 10 seconds later my phone is up to its sim card in red, mildly warm juices. Oh no! My thoughts at charging my dying social device should be given up. Smoke and sparks emerge from the bottom of my once relied upon S3. Its over.

I would love the OtterBox Preserver Case for iPhone 5/5S (Pistachio) Thank you!!

I remember going to a party at a friend’s house during my earlier years at high school and needing to use the loo really bad because I had drunk way too much and my bladder felt like it was going to explode. Just as I was going to the bathroom my phone started to ring, so I pulled my phone out to see who was calling only to find my mum had been trying to call and I had missed five calls. In a fit of panic I tried to answer the phone only for it to slip out of my hands and into the toilet. It wasn’t a smartphone but it had died due to water damage. This was the good old days when I had the “unbreakable” Nokia phone.

I would love the OtterBox Symmetry Case for Galaxy S5 (Black) please

Trying to balance my old school flip top LG phone on a glass filled with coke, it fell in, when I reacted to it, I accidentally dropped the glass as well, which broke the glass as well

Had my hands full of phone, drinks and takeaways. Put everything on the roof of the car to get the keys out of my pocket. Opened the door grabbed the takeaways, jumped in and drove off. Came to the first stop sign. The forgotten phone slid off the roof, down the windscreen, across the bonnet and it's toast

I had just moved to wellington with my girlfriend and we had no idea were anything was or even how to get back to our apartment, so we used the GPS on my Note 2 for every trip. The parking at the apartment was a public car park building that was next to the apartment building and it was very small and very dark, also the phone had one of the flip covers that didnt do anything to protect the phone, but helped prevent scratching.

So I was driving back from somebody place and my girlfriend was navigating with my note 2. I realised where we were so she turned off the GPS and put the phone on her lap. When she got out of the car in the pitch black car park building he phone dropped onto the ground, because it was dark when she picked it up she didnt notice anything and then she past it to me. I joked and said "You better not have broken my new phone" (I got it for xmas and this was in early jan)
I opened it but again it was too dark and I didnt notice anything. When we got back to the apartment I sat down and when to look at my phone and the screen had cracks running all over.
I got a really go photo of what happens to a $1000 phone when it hit the ground wrong, it could be a good promotion on why to get a $50 OtterBox case.

It would be awesome to get a
OtterBox Commuter Case for Galaxy S5 (Black) and a GS5 to put in it.

Years ago I went through a stage where I loved feeding the ducks at the local duck pond. Having no pockets one particular day I decided my phone would be nice and safe inside my bra.

After on particular vigorous toss of a handful of bread in an arc in front of me to the ducks, the jostling shook my phone loose and I watched in slow motion as it joined the ducks in the duck pond.

Naturally I was not impressed as I also had to fish it out afterwards.... I would love a defender S5 case if i was to lucky. Thank you :)

I dropped mine getting into the car then ran it over flicking it out into a puddle. That one actually worked again, a little banged up, wouldn't try that with a smart phone.

I would love the OtterBox Symmetry Case for Galaxy S5

A friend of mine was trying to perfect Bruce Lee's spin kick, ended up kicking it out of my hand while I was taking pictures. An OtterBox Commuter Case for iPhone 5-Glacier would be nice if I'm lucky enough to win :)

  • Darren says: 6 August 2014, 7:55pm

This happened like 2 months ago. (If I'm going to tell you my story, I have to tell you as much as I can remember and as detailed as I possibly can because I can't forget this sad, horrible and tragic moment).

Ok, here goes. I had P.E last period (2.20 to 3.10pm) on a Wednesday (June 4th, 2014) if I'm not wrong. We were told that we were going to play dodgeball today (funnn activity, I might add). We had to change to our P.E gear in the changing room, and of course there have to be like 200 people in the room, Year 9, Year 10, Year 11 and maybe some Year 12 packed together in this small tiny room, smaller than an average classroom like sardines in a tin can. The tin can would be an understatement now that I think about it because not only was the room small but also the smell that was lingering in the room. I couldn't make out what the smell was but if I had to take a wild guess, looking around the room, it had to be from all the people that were spraying their deodorant can but last I checked it had to be spray on the body, not in the air. The weird thing is that the windows were open but somehow the smell was contained.

Anyways, I kept zig-zagging through people until I found a small spot for me to put my bag down on the bench but it's not what you call hygienic, there were some plastic wrappers and an apple core on the bench. I mean come on! Why would you leave an apple core in the changing room?! Anyhow, I discretely push the apple core to my neighbour so I would have at least a little bit more space to change. I took out my P.E gear, my ipod touch 5th gen (It's 32GB Black. It's fairly new, a bit of scratches here and there and it has no case which was very stupid but the thing is, I didn't have the time to go to find one. Exams were coming up!) from my pocket and put in the front part of my bag. I quickly change into my P.E gear for two reasons, 1: to get out of that room as quickly as possible (mainly because of the smell and the number of people) 2: to find my friend so that we can discuss about the test that we just took in 5th period. I went into the gym and I was so relieved that that there were less people in it than I thought. I assumed that the other classes had their activities on the field or somewhere else.

About 2:45pm (yes, it took that long because people couldn't find the space to change and we had to wait for them.) Our teacher took out, maybe 35 balls. He explained the rules, placed the balls in the middle, divided the class into two. By the time we got organised, it was almost 3.00 pm. Nevertheless, we started playing. (I would like to skip this part, because it was very horrible the way that I handle myself in dodge ball. I keep get hit by one of my friend who thought it’ll be fun hitting me annnnd I accidentally hit a girl in the face (did I mention my accuracy of throwing is terrible?) Like I said, horrible moments.

At 3.08pm, we had already packed up everything so we went to the changing room to change back to our school uniform. The room was just as packed as it was when I was changing to my P.E gear but this time I had to wait a few minutes for some guy to leave his spot. My friend (the one that I talked to about the test) suggest about going to my house to play some games which I agree since we didn’t have a test coming up soon. He told me that he’ll be waiting outside of the changing room. Therefore, I decided to change a bit quicker so I wouldn’t keep my friend waiting for too long. I got out of the changing room, scanned the area, to find him by the water cooling. As I was running to him, a Year 9 student, yell out to me, “Hey man! Your bag is open.” To that response, I made a hard 180 degree turn, no idea why I did that, thinking that I would be able to see my unopened bag if I turn around but when I turn, I heard a loud crack and it turns out to be my ipod touch smashing into the concrete wall. Apparently, when I was changing into my PE clothes, while have the thought of getting out of that room as fast as possible, I forgot to close my front pocket of my bag which contained my ipod touch. I even forgot to take out my ipod touch when I was changing back to my school uniform. I picked up the ipod touch, to my worst nightmare, there was a huge crack running down the middle with smaller cracks connecting to it and worse of all, I couldn’t even turn it on.

Later that day, I had to explain to my parents about the incident which was painful for me and now I have to earn my own money to get a new phone. I have about $100 right now and I’m using a LG GB230 phone to get around but it’s so crappy. This draw would be the ticket for dismissing my misery. I would like the OtterBox Commuter Wallet Case for iPhone 5/5S (Black) and definitely the iPhone 5/5S that comes with it!

I wouldn't say it's the most impressive of all the other stories in this blog post but I think I might add it regardless

I've had two devices which I have dropped and either
    A. destroyed the screen
    or
    B. Destroyed it in general

My first touch screen device which I had my hands on was an iPod touch, it was a iPod Touch 4 which was quite the device back then(Around 2011?), albeit I wasn't exactly the most careful of people and I accidentally dropped it one time I was just playing some apps, my reaction to hearing the "WHUMP" and the gentle vibration that resonated into me gave me goosebumps as I hurried over to check on the device. To my dismay I grabbed the iPod off of the floor and attempted to turn it on, my attempts were successful but without the surprise of seeing a cracked screen.

My other device was a Samsung Galaxy S4, mind you this wasn't 'exactly' my device but my sister entrusted me with it, now I'm not a normally clumsy person and ironically enough she had bought the phone a year or two ago in which I advised for her to get a case, ironically again it was an Otterbox case but the only protection she got for it was a simple screen protector. I repeat again I'm not the usual clutz but one day I was checking up on her phone because she wasn't the best with technology(despite owning a high tier phone such as the S4) I was browsing about her apps when suddenly I got distracted, my grip loosened on the rather big smart-phone and "KLUNK" was the sound it made as the case separated from the phone, the battery popped out and the screen had a visible crack in it with the plastic screen protector had allowed me to see the shrapnel of the blast, my screen had shattered and actually came off the frame of the device. Mind you, if someone broke your property you wouldn't be a happy camper and boy was she unhappy for the rest of her time with the phone, on the up-side she seems to be enjoying her new phone so that's a plus.

I have many other devices in which I've smashed accidentally but I don't want to stretch my comment out too much...

I would love to have a better phone and a case to keep it in a better condition than my iPod or the S4

Therefore I would love to get an: OtterBox Defender Case for Galaxy S5 (Black)

And maybe a Samsung Galaxy S5 to go along with it, heck, it'd be great for bragging rights and would allow me to have first-hand experience with Otterbox's and get my sister to buy one.

It was on the night of my senior formal... i went to my friends place for predrinks. Turned up at the door stepped in, leaned over to untie my shoe laces and my beloved iphone 3gs slipped out of my top pocket of my dry cleaned suit and it landed on the polished marble tiled floor below and cracked the screen and the tile along with it.

  • Jordi says: 6 August 2014, 9:53pm

    Dropped it in the shitta

  • Clarke says: 6 August 2014, 10:06pm

Accidentally dropped my Lumia 520 in my sink, which caused all kinds of problems.
One specifically was something to do with sound, and my phone is the only thing I can use for an alarm in the morning.
Needless to say, I ended up not waking up until 5 minutes before my uni lecture, and as I was running up the hill to Vic, the stupid phone fell out of my pocket.
Now there's only one button that works, the camera button. I can't turn it on if the battery comes out without charging, I can't lock it, and I can't change the volume which is perpetually stuck at 15/30.

I was casually walking to the movies then suddendly my phone drops out of my pocket when i was crossing the road. Then after about 5 seconds later i found out my phone wasn't in my pocket! I go back to the road and then... VROOOOOM!!~~ goes the car and pieces of my phone left on the road... SIM card destroyed, phone destroyed... -sigh- ... T.T

Not my phone but my partners and I just about pmsl. He was going to the toilet and I don't know why he had his phone out but he did. Result - phone dropped in "yellow water". And then he had to fish it out before flushing! So freaking funny. And just because I'm that kind of friend I laughed and laughed and then told everyone I possibly could (and now even more people - lol!). He would love a case that goes on an s5 (he would suffer an s4 case though)

  • John says: 7 August 2014, 5:28am

This was several years ago now, but I had this Sony Ericcson phone which I adored. One day I went to the toilet and the phone was in my jeans pocket, so I did my business and when I pulled up my jeans I heard a sploosh (splash) sound and saw my phone in the toilet bowl....funny thing is? even though I just urinated my hand went down the loo quick as a whip and snatched the phone out, sadly I didn't know at the time putting the phone/battery ect in rice could potentially help so I lost my phone, to say I was distraught would be an understatement!

I would love the OtterBox Symmetry Case for Galaxy S5 (Black)

  • Lynette says: 7 August 2014, 7:10am

I biggest oh-no moment with my iPhone (in a otterbox defender case) was when we were living in Wellington. I had just got of the Train at Petone and was being picked up. I placed my bag in the boot and for some reason I left my phone on the roof of the car. I hopped in the car and we drove home. Now being Wellington it isnt a nice flat drive home we lived at the top of the Hills above Petone, about a 10 - 15 min drive at best. When we got home I realised that my phone wasnt in my pocket and told my wife that we might have to drive back down. When we hopped out of the car, low and behold my phone was still on the roof of the car. to my relief....

  • Kelly says: 7 August 2014, 8:33am

An unfortunate situation of jumping in the car too fast and not noticing the phone dropping out of my pocket
and under the car next to the front wheel. Of course as most of us do u back out the drive and crunch phone smashed and unrepairable. A sad demise for a smartphone.

  • Paul says: 7 August 2014, 11:31am

It had been a long day. We'd driven a long way and a hot meal and the promise of a shower were much appreciated. I dumped my clothes in the bedroom we were borrowing and retreated to the bathroom to feel human again.
It was only when we were sitting down to dinner and our host asked if we had confirmed our plans for the following day that I thought I should check my phone.
The phone that was in the pocket of my jeans.
The jeans that were no longer on the bedroom floor.

Ever gracious, our hosts had put a load of washing on for us.

When I stopped the machine and dragged out my sopping jeans, they were vibrating with something akin to menace. The phone wouldn't respond, just vibrate. And it was awfully warm.

It's demise brought me to the world of smartphones, and my dear old iPhone 4 has been saved from numerous near-death experiences by the Otterbox it lives in, but old age is doing what no amount of abuse has managed.

I'd love a new iPhone 5 in an Otterbox Symettry Case. I know it will love me back, and for a long time.

  • Christopher says: 7 August 2014, 11:52am

My phone was an old flip-top from the warehouse...

My story is just a case of absolute stupidity on my part. I was at work using my phone while attempting to rewind the movie (I worked at the cinema), start threading the first half of it, and set up the carbon rods all at once. Long story short, I left the phone in the lamp-housing, turned the carbons on, and after the first half of the movie had played I changed the reels, renewed the carbon rods, and there...under a pile of melted copper was a melted smoking flip-top. I also had it ran over with a train (it wouldn't work anymore anyway)..

If I won (probably BIG IF) I would like a S5 with the Glacier coloured case.

  • Jono says: 7 August 2014, 12:37pm

My friend was drunk and talking about blue vein cheese, I thought it'd be a good idea to record him. He ended up slamming my phone to the ground; it looked alright but you could hear a rattle inside. The next day he offered to try get it fixed.

Thinking it was broken I had left it at my other friends house. I asked them to bring it over but I hadn't told them them the plan was to get it fixed. They ended up destroying it on the way over, dropping it from heights, getting cars to run over it, etc. It was well past broken, it was destroyed; but now I can look back on it and laugh if I manage to win a new phone.

If I won I'd love to get the OtterBox Commuter Wallet Case for iPhone 5S in Black please!

It would make my day if i won the OtterBox Defender Case for iPhone 5S white - Punk. Then when im out on the farm i wont have to worry about the rain, dirt, dust, scratches and falling off my bike because id know my phone would be safe with the amazing Otterbox case wraped around it. But i think next time i might not take my phone when i go on the bike...

I had just turned 16 and got my learners license. I was lying on the couch playing ps4 with my phone beside me, my dad just came home and got out the car keys and asked me if I wanted to go for a drive whilst tossing the keys to me (which I was unaware of at the time) , the keys which were fairly heavy landed on my phone with the metal key making first contact, it punched a hole right through the button and broke the cpu of the phone. Now I'm stuck with a x10 mini pro.

I was at skating doing a few laps around the rink and then my phone fell out of my pocket, just a measly scratch so I thought "Meh" and put it back in my pocket of my puffer jacket, I take my puffer jacket off and put it on a chair in the main room of the rink, about 40 minutes later I take my skates off so I can go outside for a few minutes, I put my skates on top of my puffer jacket and I had totally forgot my phone was in my jacket, I heard a really loud noise followed by an annoying ringing sound, I had put my skates directly on top of my phone and crushed all the internal parts of it, my dad said "Oh we'll just get you a new screen." as reluctant as I was to tell him the whole thing was destroyed I did anyway, I still haven't got a phone since then and an iPhone 5/5C/5S would be great especially with a with bolt case.

When i 'thought'i had a good case that is 'suppose to protect' phone, So i was with some friends and we decided it would be fun to try it out (stupid us lol). We went over my balcony and threw it off aiming for a patch of grass. Long story short we hit the grass and the case was fine but the whole front panel on my phone had shattered. Lets just hope a black iphone 5s in a otterbox symmetry case will survive all I can throw it at.(Im kidding im not that stupid to do it again)

I was out in the paddocks of our old lifestyle block lifting the break fence to give the old cows some more feed. I had my cell phone in my pocket whilst doing so. But I had forgotten that these so called "pockets" were terrible at keeping things in them. I reeled up the electric tape and let the cows through, I then got a jog on down the race all the way to my car as I was running late for my actual job. I got into the drivers seat of my car and carried out my 3 step 'prevent forgetfulness' routine...1. Keys, 2. Wallet, 3. Phone...shit! I quickly sprinted back down the race calling it from my partners cellphone while frantically searching for it although to no prevail. I even attempted coming back after my shift and retraced my steps with my car head lights, again no luck, my phone was doomed. I returned the next day to feed the cows again and thought I may as well try ringing it one more time, hoping somehow it was still alive...no dial tone. As I was just making my way back to my car again I noticed a rather large and rather potent cow pat in the paddock....well I wished I never had seen it, because sure enough my poor cellphone was face down smothered, drowning the biggest number two I had ever seen.

Everyday I call my my wife to be at 11am. I do it from a second story mezzanine that we have at work.. I went to call her and as I got the phone out of my pocket. The phone slid out of the top of the leather wallet that I had for it and went sailing over edge. I watched it in full HD slow motion fall fall the way to the cement floor below. I'm sure the phone had a sad on it at the time.
It landing and proceeded to smash into 3.5 million pieces. At that perfect moment when my heart broke into the same number of pieces our 2 tonn forklift chose that moment to be driven over the top of it turning most of the phone into a fine powder.
The worst part of it. My insurance company decided that they would only give me the "adjusted value" for the phone, which they decided was $150.00 and I would loose my name claims bonus.
    Not an ideal day !!!

  • sam says: 8 August 2014, 8:48am

Was working upside-down under a shuttle in a car stacker and watched my week old S3 go sliding out my pocket and fall in slow motion 5 stories onto concrete. The phone hit so hard even the battery exploded.

I had brought that phone because I had been working at a carpet factory the week before and needed to take a photo in the drier to see what the problem was. So I pulled out my faithful S1 and leaned in to take the photo only to have my phone slip out of my hand and fall into the latex bath. I had to sit there and watch my very first smart phone of 2 years be pulled into the drier and be blasted with flame. It made it out the other side in a half melted blob in a full latex case.

I would love the OtterBox Commuter Case for Galaxy S5 (Black) please and thank you!

I bought my first Iphone and was very proud as it cost a heap of money, I was very careful when I put it in my pocket and cleaned it everyday. A couple of months later, I was out on a cruise for the company Christmas party and had my phone in my jacket pocket, after some epic dancing I took my jacket off with said phone and put it on of the chairs outside, our receptionist came over and was having her dinner and dropped her roll on my jacket, she picked up the jacket and shook it upside down over the side of the boat to get rid of the crumbs, well the crumbs went and so did my new phone, my wallet and my house keys!! was not a good night, I'd love a OtterBox Defender Case for iPhone 5 - Night Sky please

was out riding on my bike awhile back, when at the lights the old phone slipped out of my shorts pocket, only realising this after touching my pocket, I stop on the side of the road alittle way past the lights, I look back my phone looked good maybe scratched a little dented but it looked fine overall from a distance, it was then to my horror I see a car approaching at speed to get through a yellow light, the car tyre crushed it to pieces, shattered across the road.

Man, there's a lot of great stories already.

@Rajeev, You have my sympathies... but at least you had an excuse for your mum when you got home that night :)
@Darren, That's a descriptive story. I like the timestamps. You should write for 24.
@Jason, It must have stung a little when the cinema told you to turn off your mobile phone
@Jason, If it's any consolation, I'm sure that kid thinks you're pretty awesome
@sam, I'll talk to Otterbox and see if they're working on any fireproof cases...

    Keep the stories coming guys!

well my previous phone decided to go for a swim.

the year before last i went bungy jumping while away for school and completely forgot my phone was still inside my pocket. as i jumped off i was filled with adrenalin but as i was hurtling towards the water i saw out of the corner of my eye my phone falling down beside me as i got jerked back up and watched my phone disappear.

needless to say i never saw my phone again

I work with dogs and one particular day we had 8 German Shepherds. They could not all play together so I was back and forth all morning, letting them out one at a time. I went back to let the 6th dog out and noticed a chewed up, muddy old phone on the ground. A little puzzled as to where it may have come from, I picked it up and examined it only to discover it was my BRAND NEW LG (less than a week old!). It must have fallen out of my pocket at some stage and I didn't notice.
If I were to win a new otter box case & phone, I think an iphone 5s in a punk coloured defender case would not be so hard to miss if it were ever to fall out of my pocket.

Here follows the tale of the demise of my old Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus...

After a long night out on the beers with my workmates (I was working in a bar at the time) we had finally been booted out of the last bar and were heading home. One friend had got hold of my phone and decided to take a few selfies with it, but when asked to give the phone back so that I could call a taxi she refused and started spinning away from me (phone in hand) so that I couldn't grab it.

As we'd had a few beers this was all good fun, but in a fraction of a second it turned to disaster and tragedy.

As she spun away with the phone for probably the 10th time, her had slipped and the phone went flying on a huge upwards arc out into the road. Here is where everything went slow motion...

I ran out into the road, my eyes turned upwards at my slowly rotating, airborne phone (it was 6am so not much traffic on a Sunday morning). I thought I had it, having played cricket in my youth, but didn't account for the inebriating effect of the beersies.

I misjudged the catch, and heard a sickening *crunch* as my phone (that I had had for only 2-3 months) hit the ground. I slowly looked down to see cracks running in all directions across the screen. My legs went out from under me and I fell to my knees, the picture of misery. I was sitting in the road for nearly 10 minutes before my friends convinced me it wasn't the safest place to be!

If my story were to win , I would love an OtterBox Symmetry case (black) for Galaxy S5, and the phone to go with it.

I had to use tongs to get it out, I tried drying it but it was stuffed :( I cried for a while after that happened as my phone is my life! Thanks for the opportunity to win Mighty Ape!

The most impressive phone death was my old flip phone, it started ringing so I quickly pulled it from my jeans pocket and then fumbled as a flipped the phone open.
It starts to fall to the floor, all is not lost yet, I reach down getting a couple of fingertips to the phone at about ankle height and close my hand. The phone is then propelled across the room by my fingers, flicking it straight into the opposite wall.
It strikes hard, screen glass and phone keys fly and the flip phone lays dead, broken in half.

    Hey guys,
This happened back in 2004. I had a brand new nokia 6600, for which i was very proud of. I barely gave it to anyone. My favorite activity was to take pictures of everything i see. During then, me and my friends had a day out to Bennerghatta national park, Bangalore(this is in india). What an opportunity for a photo maniac. I decided, to get every animals in my phone by evening. I was enjoying it flashing my phone to my friends(now i realize, i wasn't really nice to them), until this happened. There was a big pit, where they keep bears; i was trying to take a close picture, but my phones zoom wasn't enough for that. So I leaned into it, extended my arm and tried to take picture, until my phone said 'good bye' to me and reached the bottom and shattered into pieces. I was stunned and looked at my friends. Every one were like OH NO.......but it didn't take longer for them to start laughing their asses off. And to add more pain for me, couple monkeys jumped from the tree and took my phone debris and showed all of their teeth, just like they knew i was gonna drop it and they were gonna nick it... I would have expected a call from some monkey, if it wasn't broken or many of my friends might have got a lot of sms from him. Well then, i really would love to have an Otterbox preserver case for iphone 5/5s (black) please........... Its really an irony, that, i got a chance to share this story with some mighty APES.... Its, bloody monkeys everywhere!!!

So i was helping out on my grandparents farm, and we were herding the cows into a new paddock. While i had a moment, i quickly pulled out my phone(which i only just got the previous day) to check my messages, me being a typical teenager. As i checked my messages i saw something moving towards me in the corner of my eye. Looking up, i see a very large cow running towards me only a few meters away! Not reeally thinking i kinda threw my phone into the air as i jumped out of the cows way. After, i looked around for my phone in the paddock and find it quite nicely embedded into a fresh cow poo. It never got used again needless to say

I went skiing in Wanaka and I had my brand new iPhone in my pocket so I could take some cool snaps. Going up the chair lift with my mate I took my phone out of my pocket to get some shots of the awesome view...but because I had my big chunky gloves on my phone slipped and fell. For a split second I considered jumping after it but my mate told me it was gone, and I had to let it go. The next day one of the ski instructors had found it buried under the snow encased in ice and I got it back! But it was badly cut up and it never fully recovered, or forgave me. If it had a black OtterBox Symmetry Case for iPhone, it may have been a different story.

Last month I was flying to England to visit my Dad. I hadn't seen him since I was 4 and I am now 17. The flight is really long and I was getting bored so I thought it would be a good idea to get some in-flight pictures. I wanted a photo of the loo flushing, as it makes that amazing "whoosh" but just as I clicked the camera the whole plane lurched and, you guessed it, my phone fell out of my hand and down the loo - never to be seen again. I was going to use my phone to get some photos of my Dad but that idea went down the toilet!

So pretty much what happened was I was driving over to go and grab some Maccas, we where just having a couple mates over that day and they had elected me to drive and pick up some food (because I was the only one of us that could drive at the time)

So lazy me simply throws on sweatpants and a hoodie, takes their orders, and heads on over to Maccas on my motorbike. So I get there and I'm standing in line waiting for my chance to order, and decide I should probably take my phone out and double check that I had gotten everybody's order right.
So I start to feel around in my pockets and I can't find my phone, and as expected I start to panic at this point (as it was a brand new iPhone 4 that I had gotten as a birthday present a month or so earlier) and I rush out of the Maccas and check just about everywhere I can in the hopes that my phone was not absolutely destroyed.

I decided to backtrack the road that I had taken to Maccas ever so slowly, and about 100 meters away from my house, I see my phone on the side of the road. I was still pretty hopeful at this point because I couldn't have been driving too fast seeing as I just left my house and this was the first corner that I would have taken on this journey. However to my utter despair the phone had hit the curb and was absolutely shattered, and tit wouldn't even turn on at that stage.

I proceeded to get back on my bike, putting the shattered phone back into my pocket, and driving as slowly as possible back home, getting as much sympathy from my friends as they could give on an empty stomach. However I wrote their orders down again (on paper this time) and got them their food nonetheless, savages.

I'm a big solid guy who needed to use the toilet ASAP.Luckily at uni I was close by to a toilet. When I stepped into bathroom, both toilet cubicles were occupied and I needed to do a number a number two.The only cubicle available was the disability one, so I went in and used it and locked the door.As I was sitting down, I thought what a relief and then to my horror I looked to the left of me and there was a gap and in that gap I saw another guy peeing in a urinal and he could see me sitting on the loo.i quickly got up pulled my jeans up and my phone fell into the crapper.I really wanted to get out of the cubicle because I knew the guy from another class but waited till I hear him wash his hands and leave.I had to get my dead Nokia Lumia out of the bowl after a few flushes to make sure water was clean as my phone was deceased.i then heard the other guy get out of the toilet and then quickly tried to open the door to go.The door was not budging, so I pulled and pulled with all my might, but the door was jammed. Then I pulled and I pulled and yanked the door and heard a big bang.I couldn't ring or text anyone as the phone was completely in heaven and gone then realized why I could not get out.The bang noise I heard was the wheel from the door falling off and the reason I could not get out was because I was pulling and pulling, but the door was a pull along door and when the wheel fell off I could only open the oor by tilting it a bit and with it opening a bit I could get one leg at a time out and really had to hold my belly to get out.If I had my phone working it would of saved me 40 mins of humiliation. That toilet was out of order for two weeks and the gap is now fully covered.

I was at canoe polo (water polo with kayaks) at our local swimming pool, and I left my phone in my bag with my clothes, towel etc... My parents told me to wrap my phone up in my towel just in case someone could steal it, but being me i didnt... So when i went into the changing room to get changed, I grabbed my phone out of my bag, and the whole screen on my phone was cracked. I don't know how or when this couldve happened, but it couldve been from someone dropping a paddle on it, or just me being careless and without knowing dropping my bag carelessly :o

So to everyone out there who reads this! WRAP YOUR PHONE IN SOMETHING, whether it would be in your pants pocket or towel, don't be an idiot like me!

So I was up in Greymouth doing door to door sales for the Red Cross, we were staying at a fairly nice backpackers.

One night I got up to go pee, it was dark and I didn't bother turning the light on. At the time I had an almost brand new iPhone 5. I was playing a game on my phone (most likely Angry birds or Robot Unicorn Attack, I can't remember) when I entered the bathroom, and as I moved towards the toilet, my hand slipped. I watched my caseless phone fly through the air and land perfectly in the middle of the toilet water. I was so glad that the water was clean.

The next day I put the phone in a bag of rice and thought it was going to be fine. Turns out that later I would lose cellular reception and never get it back again :(

Forgot phone was on the roof and went to drive off got about 10m down the driveway and realised the phone was on the roof breaked heard something slide down the roof twoards the back of the car went forward a little and heard the huge crunch. Lone behold my phone for some reason defied gravity and rather than slide backwards it slide forwards and landed just in front of the car and by moving forward i smashed my phone completely. A friend of mine was working nite shift. An when she finished work she her granddad was waiting to pick her up. Unfortunately he had left lights ob his car, so his battery was dead. Nobody working had jumper leads but we knew a local friend had some. I phoned her to see if she was home, woke her up an in a daze she told me where to find the leads. I rush round to pick them up an on the way back she phones me back. Obviously more awake, and asking if we needed help. I was driving at the time so assured her we were fine an tucked my phone back into my jacket pocket an kept driving. When I arrived eveybody was shivering (winter)so I pulled my car round to position to jump theirs. I jumped outta the car with the leads, popped my bonnet and went to attach the leads. I dropped one end an when u leaned forward to pick it up. My new Samsung note 2 fell outta my pocket onto the driveway, shattering the screen.
It still works. Go the Samsung. But if I use it without my stylus I slice my fingertips an the charger is now very temperamental.

Once upon a time, there was a 15 year old girl (she's now 24, just incase you were wondering) who thought she was cooler than she really was - because she had a Sharp GX15, at that point in time it really was the 'phone of all phones' (in my opinion anyway)...
This particular GX15 even had a wrist slip (you know what I'm talking about! I can see your eyebrows lifting in awe).. Anywho - this girl was so fancy, one day she was spinning it on her finger by the wrist slip, in-front of a boy.. (a cute boy - at the time, he grew up to be not so cute). Unfortunately at the peak of spinning, it flew off said girls finger straight into the fishtank (This even really was a fluke!) Fortunately no fish were harmed in the process, so there was no unnecessary tears shed from the cute boy (at the time)

It was an extremely sad day. R.I.P Sharp GX15! I still reminisce about you!

A new phone and case genuinely would not go a miss, as my current iPhone has battery dysfunction it would appear. xx

So to keep a long story short.

Start of December 2013 - My mum was set to move to Gisbourne in Early Jan, with my younger brother and I set to move in with my Dad.

18th Dec 2013 - Job finishes for the term - $200 to last me an 8 week holiday

24th Dec 2013 - Brother and I get told that Dads ex partner had put his house on Lockdown

Things were not looking good coming in to the new year, however, deciding not to let life get me down. My friends and i decide to plan a big new years. We got a hotel room and lots of booze, invited out partners and friends. The night was going great until we were walking back to the car.

12.41am 1st Jan 2014 - I trip and fall flat on my face. Managing to hold my phone, i get up as if nothing happened and carry on walking. Phone is fine

12.42am 1st Jan 2014 - i clumsily drop my phone, it goes skidding down the hill. i bend down to pick it up and i fall down again, this time skidding my phone along the ground. Looking at my phone, massive crack down the centre and the entire top right corner is fragmented.

12.43am 1st Jan 2014- 43 minutes into the New year and i had no phone, no money, no home, my knees, palms and chim were ripped to shreds and my pride was rather bruised.

Biggest OH No moment of my life!!!

Thankfully, i can look back now and crack up laughing at the hilarity of it all..

So i had been evicted from my newly done up room to allow for house guests to sleep there, i was in our wooden floored lounge with a nice cosy, potentially flat air mattress to sleep on, it was that time of the night to slip into bed and get to sleep.
But oh wait, i need to turn the light out, No worries i said as i put my Samsung S3 down onto one half of the air mattress, i got up and turned the lounge light off and then proceeded to return to my mattress, i found my way there and with an exhausted sigh i collapsed onto the opposite side of the mattress to that my phone was sitting, what i failed to remember is that physics applies to air mattresses, and where one side goes down....the other must go up, and so as my side went down, the phone was sent flying up into the air on the other side, naturally, it landed corner first straight onto the wooden floor, "OH NO!" i turned the light back on to find a rather smashed phone screen, this wouldn't have happened if i had an Otterbox Defender case in hornet colour for an S4 :P

When i first got a smart phone i was very careful with it but i'm a clumsy guy so i was bound to drop it eventually. so i was walking down the street texting and i stumbled which caused my phone to fly out of my hand. luckily it had a case so the screen wasn't about to break but it caused the phone to bounce, and it did so onto a nearby storm drain. It didn't fall through though so after i took a few deep breaths to let the panic subside, i leaned over to pick it up and being the clumsy guy that i am, i knocked my phone into the drain. I got it out but it was soaked through and never worked again. I miss that phone. i would love a Galaxy S5 commuter case.

So I was snowboarding and I kinda crashed a little and broke my wrist. The next day I thought it would be a good idea to hold my already cracked phone in my mouth whilst I put my jumper on. It wasn't. I was biting too hard and heard it cracking more, so in my moment of brilliance I loosened my grip on it just enough to let it slide from my juicy lips and crash to the ground. Can't even get my old photos off of it :'(

I remember this one time on my trip overseas to the Skocjan caves in Slovania and there was this bridge over this massive drop with a lake at the bottom, And at the time i was getting a cold so i wasnt all that well, So i said that id get a picture of this amazing place, So i reached into my pocket to get my phone (That i just bought two days before) , But somehow it slipped out of my hand and through the gap in the handrails, Then i said to "I wonder if i can get it back?" Then a second later "SPLASH". Hmm maybe not. The End

A few months back I went overseas to Singapore and Thailand to see some mates. Singapore was awesome! I was there for two days and the weather couldn't have been more perfect! I visited Universal Studios and other awesome places!
Then I flew to Bangkok to see my other friends and the weather was so hot and humid!
Shorts was and singlets were a MUST HAVE items in Bangkok, but one of my shorts had a very shallow pocket.
One night while going out into the city, we got into a cab and the drivers kept refusing to take us to our destination. So we had to hop in and hop out of three different cabs. During that process I felt my pocket feel light. My phone slipped out of my pocket. I had no wifi or roaming on my phone to find it. I am stuck with a Samsung Note 1 with a seriously annoying lag and badly shattered screen :'(
I would love Samsung Galaxy S5 with the Glacier Commuter Case!! I will love you guys till the end of my whole life!! <3 <3 <3 <3

I was over in Townsville at the Billabong Wildlife Sanctuary where I dropped my phone into the snake pit as I was taking a photo - there was the three most deadliest snakes in there... the Eastern Brown, the Taipan and the Death Adder. After the ranger retrieved my phone I went for a hike up Castle Hill where I happened to drop it off the edge of the lookout into snake territory. Luckily it was a relatively cheap phone with not many photos on it!

After saving up my money to buy an iPod touch, I didn't have enough for an iPhone so I would use this like one and I was happy with finally being able to but it. It arrived in the post the next day with a cheap case I got with it, I got the iPod out of the box and carefully tried to put it in its case without getting fingerprints on it, the iPod slipped out of my hands and hit the floor. I was completely devastated. If I was to win this I would ensure that this would not happen ever again! I would also choose the black OtterBox Defender Case for iPhone 5s. THANKS HEAPS!

Was just at home in Christchurch, had been up all night playing computer games with some friends. Went to the loo at some ungodly hour of the morning to quickly relieve myself of the Mountain Dew I'd been chugging.

As I was rather sleep deprived I didn't think much of holding my phone in my mouth and just as I'd finished, I went to flush my phone drops straight in.

I very quickly stuck my hand in (so damn gross) and pulled my phone out to find the screen smashed and unreadable as water (and other stuff) pored out the top.

As the phone was about 4 years old at this point and the battery had degraded to he point of JUST lasting a day I decided that was then end of that Lumia 800. I've been using a cheap droid thing ever since.

Bought the new phones for the wife and myself unpacked from the box went to go for a drive. From the house to the car which is less than ten yards, phone had mysteriously disappeared, The house was turned upside down, the garden got an unexpected weeding, the new phone battery went flat with the amount of calling. The only explanation i had was Dr Who must have been fling past in the Tardis and picked it up he still not called me. With much embarrassment had to go and get another cheap phone until the end of my plan.

Ever kicked your phone by accident? I drop-kicked my phone rugby style.

So I have this habit of trying to catch things dropped with my foot a.l.a. soccer. I am no good at soccer, nor am I any good at catching things with my foot. But the habit stays. I think instinctively, I want to soften the blow of the object hitting the floor, therefore my foot is a sort of last minute cushion. I've actually had to move my foot out of the way when I dropped a kitchen knife once. Nope.

Anyways, I was out in the clubs. Already this is a bad start. After quite a few drinks, drunk me decided a tweet about the current situation and how slow it was would be good right about now. So out comes my mobile. Mind you, I'm standing next to the bar so while I'm not on the dance floor, I do get shoved around now and then by either passersby or thirsty patrons.

Right after I type out the sentence 'lame crowd #boring' someone bumps against my elbow from behind. Because I'm apparently too cool for school, I was holding my phone in one hand while trying to do this sorta finger flick dance with the other hand. Don't ask. You can imagine - gorilla grip on phone this was not.

Bump goes my elbow. Out pops my phone from my claw of a hand. As it begins its slow trajectory down to the dark, grimy, sloppy bar floor, drunk me goes, 'eh - I got this mate. Footy catch here I come!'

Unfortunately drunk me hadn't quite figured out that my leg was at that moment tapping back and forth to the music - drunk me thought it had this. 'Leg - get that phone. Footy style!'

My leg, in the middle of that build up part of the Titanium song, misread (or misheard, understandably with the bass and crowd and what not) the command as 'Leg - KICK THAT PHONE. RUGBY STYLE.'

I kicked that phone so well. You know when you play rugby, and you drop the ball to this certain depth that, when you kick, results in a perfect connect that sends the ball soaring into the clear blue sky? I mean, any rugby player would know that, and had they seen me execute that drop kick, they would have clapped. Heck, at the back of my head, as my leg swung in terribly slow motion towards the phone and connected, my thought process was basically, 'woah - great kick maaaaaaaaAAAAARRRGGHHHHHHMYPHOOOOOOONNNEEE!'

Because I was standing next to the bar, when I kicked the phone, it flew out for a glorious second before smashing smack bang into the bar service top wall and shattering into several pieces - battery, back panel migrated their separate ways, the main section of the phone showing a great deal of the shattered front panel before spining and disappearing into the dark floor.

I was so torn. I mean, I was super proud that I executed a near textbook perfect drop kick...but my phone (and my drunk ego) paid a terrible price for it. Also my friends collectively wore WTF looks on their face. They now refer to me as the guy who doesn't care about phones. Which is just silly. I love phones. I also love rugby. You'd be surprised at how much they have in common.

Obviously I don't kick phones these days. But every now and then, I still wonder....if kicked just right, would I have cleared the bar table?

I'd love to own a OtterBox Defender Case for Galaxy S5 (Black) with said Galaxy S5 in it. And I promise to not drop kick it. I will not however make any promises of trying to catch things with my foot. I've actually improved my foot catching (or rather stopping) skills. I think I'm also starting to like soccer. Hmmm....

It was a breathtakingly sunny day so my friend and i decided to take our Honda CB 400cc Super Four's for a ride. We got out onto some extremely windy back roads and i was up front, i got out onto some straighter bits and decided to pull over to let my friend catch up. I decided to check the time and whip out my phone however, i made a vital mistake! I didn't take my gloves off!

Thus my chunky glove laden hand struggled to grasp my sleek iphone! I carelessly yank my phone from my jacket. With to much force and not enough grip my phone goes flying from my person and lands with a crack on the stony road beside me. Gasping i attempt to reach for my precious, only i was to late...

    My friend arrives...

    Rides up next to me...

I scream as his front wheel slowly crushes what is left of phone...

    My phone is gone.

We scattered the remains over the edge of a near by bridge. Goodbye my friend i whispered.

The cringing agony is not a phone that's been damaged to the point where you'd replace it (Where if you are not that tight on money, your reasoning is clear). Rather it's situations that were like mine, where I was in the car going over to a cousin's house. I got rather little sleep the night before, so I fell asleep while checking facebook. I was abruptly woken up when I arrived at the location, and in my rather tired state, I jumped out of the car not knowing that my phone was on my lap. My phone took it's leap of faith onto the ground, and it fell flat on it's face (i.e. the screen). Bezels and edges were dented by the brick laid grounds. Luckily however, screen did not crack, suffering only some scratches. This however is the pain. There is absolutely no reason to replace a perfectly functional phone, but you are left with the agonizing reminders of your missteps and your lack of care for protecting your phone, right there on the phone screen. That is why I would love OtterBox Symmetry Case for iPhone 5S (Glacier).

Well me and my cousins were having a challenge to see who could take the best selfie and of course i had to climb a tree as i reached the topmost branch which would hold my weight i reached for my iphone in my pocket and by some stroke of badluck my phone slipped out of its case and fell hitting 5 branches on its way down and finally landing facedown as i descended hoping for the best i picked my phone only to see cracks all along the screen thinking it couldnt get worse as i powered it up there was a huge led leak right in the middle of the screen, moral of the story never take an iphone up a tree

After a long hard days work on site, I was talking to my partner on the phone while walking to the car, discussing if there was anything I needed to bring home on my way. Upon finishing the phone call, I had put my phone on top of the roof to get my keys out and load up with my gears.
One of my workmates had popped over and we were engaged deeply in a conversation, regarding work for the next day. We had finished our conversation, which by this time, I had finished packing up the car, and was ready to leave.
Now since it was late, and we are in the winter months (Im sure you know where this is heading now), I obviously didnt see, and failed to remember, that I had left my phone on the roof, drove off, with the rest of the crew in tow, racing to get home to a warm fire.
It wasnt til an hour later, when I needed to use the phone, that I was frantically rushing round searching the car, toolboxes etc, to try and find, and after many calls to try and hear a ring, came up empty handed.
Unfortunately, upon arriving on site, the chilling realisation of where my phone was, hit me like a tonne of bricks, when I had seen it lying on the road, and on exiting the vehicle, kept telling myself...."its ok, it didnt rain too hard last night, so should be fine", as the S5's are waterproof to an extent.
Unfortunately, it wasnt the rain or water I had to worry about, because, as I picked it up to dust off, turned it over to find it had been run over by what was probably one of the boys that was parked behind me in our hastiness to just get home.
Feeling a tad guttered (as you would), showed the boys, and heard their dismays at the issue in hand, and the workmate who had parked behind me, kindly offered to try and get it fixed, to which I declined, knowing that it wasnt his fault, and I should have been more careful.
Now normally, this wouldnt have concerned me, but in all my years of having a mobile phone, this was the ONLY time, that I did not get insurance on this on, as For the others....I paid so much money towards insurance, and never needed to claim, as I had always been good with my phones, so think I well and truly learnt Murphy's law that day.
Im now on my older galaxy, surviving on that til I can upgrade with a new replacement!! But have certainly my lesson.
I would LOVE a galaxy S5 glacier commuter case please!! This may definitely save some heartache in the near future

It was a lovely wednesday afternoon. I had had a great day at work, as work was winding down, I misplaced my footing and fell down the stairs which go down and then have a 90 degree turn at the bottom for another 2 steps.
I landed on a leg to a fan that was very sharp and hard. After about 10mins when I regained the ability to walk because I twisted my knee during the fall I resumed work.
Just before knock off I pulled out my phone to check what's new and I was shocked at what i witnessed. My new S4 had a shattered bottom of the screen. not just cracked but shattered. with subsequent cracks starring from the point of impact through the rest of the screen.

I would just like to have a moment of silence for the fallen phone that saved my thigh from a horrible horrible death. (although in hindsight, my leg would have healed and cost less than my phone)

So my phone paid the price for my salvation not my butterfingers. I think that it is worthy to be remembered how it sacrificed itself for the sins of its user.

On a frosty Saturday morning, my team and I were going for a hearty morning warm up. It was a big game, winner won the plate. We were doing a run around the field, following the concrete path. I had my phone in one hand, reading my mum's good luck text. One of my team mates came up behind me and slapped me on the back, as we do. My frosty fingers fumbled with the phone as the momentum shot forward through my body. My phone slithered out of my hand, on to the concrete floor. Then the guy who slapped me ran forward to trod on it, accidentally. I picked up my phone to see that it was off, screen cracked.
This was the one time that I dropped my Samsung Galaxy SII, my first phone. To this day it won't turn on, I'm not sure when the funeral will be. I will never forget her. She was a beauty.

Tramping over the old swing bridge in the Waiohine Gorge and, looking down, saw a birds eye view of a Ponga fern. The perfect green circle was too good an opportunity to pass up so I grabbed out my phone to take a picture. I got the perfect shot, but as I was turning the phone off someone jumped on the bridge next to me making it suddenly swing. In grabbing for the hand rail I let go of the phone! 20 minutes of scrabbling down the bank and I found the phone next to the rock it had landed on. Luckily I was able to retrieve the micro SD card so although the phone had gone to phone heaven, the photo was saved!

I would love a Galaxy S5 and the Otterbox case to keep it safe in.

Go to replace my phone in my jeans pocket, the pockets were quite tight so getting my phone in was generally a bit of a mission, but it went in really easily. Afterwards, I was getting changed in a bathroom cubicle and foolishly held my pants with phone in pocket, upside down over over the toilet. It seemed like my phone fell in slow motion as I watched it fall straight down into the bowel....Plop! I am an electrician by trade and when I was doing my time I saved and saved and brought myself a new moto phone, iPhone….

Well one day I was working with the trades man and had my phone in my pocket, as all young guys do, and we went to the local poo plant to work on a big motor that mixes the poo and pumps in from this big pond in to the factory to treat it to get rid of all the floater bits…

Yes you read that right and you think your job is sh@t...

Anyway I went up the ladder above the pond to disconnect the wire from the overhead run…
When the phone rang… I had been waiting for this girl to call me so I panicked and pulled the phone out…
Yip It come out of my hand and went straight up into the air, I made a grab for it, touched it and it went straight up into the air, went for it again and missed it….

Only because I was falling off the ladder straight for the poo pond…
So I hit the sh@t, and sunk like a stone, I am a big guy, and stood up (the ponds are only 5 foot deep) just in time to hear my iPhone hit the water and see it sink like its owner….

Anyway I got out, likely they have showers at the plant, had a shower, and had to sit in my undies for the drive back in to town with my tradesman laughing his head off, worst the bugger had radioed through while I was in the shower and when I got back the workshop they were all there, office ladies included, with a bloody camera to record the moment so they could remind me of it every time we had a work do…

Then three days later the boss gives me a new iPhone… I was so touched, till I worked out it didn’t go and it was my phone they had dug outa the poo…..

Took me a year to save up for a new phone and I never got the girl…

I am not a smart man, I am not a rich man. Nor am I the most social man. These traits have recently aligned, so listen up for my tale of woe.

My girlfriend (H) and I have a habit of getting dessert once a week or so, but this time there was an external influence. Her best friend (K) and her friend were to join us and they suggested a place across town - Strawberry Fields. I'd heard good things so I didn't mind when they suggested we make the trip.

"We'll just get a taxi..." they said. Good, right? No.

    Not good.

And so we pile into the back of a cab. I didn't know K too well so I sat in the back seat browsing MightyApe for a new iPhone dock. (Which I ordered - a TwelveSouth HiRise fo iPhone 5. It's amazing, it works with cases too!)

Little did I know, I was paying. H had failed to mention it to me but I should have known, we are all Uni students after all. When we pulled up across the road from Strawberry Fields, payment came up as a subject and all eyes fell on me. I quickly got out my wallet, swipe-beep-beep-beep-beep and we were out of the taxi and in the restaurant.

Five minutes went by. We chatted, the four of us shedding light on what we study and circle-jerking about how we used to have money. My girlfriend, H, took a call and stepped outside to answer it. The logical thing to do in this situation, in my head, was to get my iPhone out and check on the status of my dock order.

    But where was my phone?

I started lifting plates, cups, even the table cloth in the hope I had discreetly put it away but no.

I asked K and her friend if they had seen it but, again, no.

I heard the door open and the roar of the traffic outside and my mind turned to the taxi. Surely not, I wouldn't leave my most prized possession on the seat of a cab... I jumped from my seat and ran, past H and our the door. Perhaps the cab hadn't driven off.

    Between cars, I dodged.

    And there it lay.

Face-down in the middle of the road, the black aluminium of the phone's back caught my eye. Without a dent or even a scratch, my heart soared. Maybe it was ok? Had I worried in vain?

But then I turned it over.

    No. I had not.

The screen, once as clear and flat as the calmest waters, was a web of cracks. Smashed glass fell onto the road as I lifted it, a white light shone from what I used to call the screen.

And that is where my story ends. After that, there was only emails to insurance brokers who assured me that no policy would cover my actions. So here I sit, app-less and with cramping thumbs, with my Nokia 1280's display as black-and-white as my life now.

Please, MightyApe and Otterbox, help me wake up from this stone-age nightmare with a new iPhone 5!

    Andy.

I was leaving work to go to uni, already late for a class and not having the best day. The lift opened and I got in, I must tell you the floor of the lift is made of stone. While taking my phone out to check on the time, I decided to press the button with the same hand. I could saw how slowly my phone was slipping out of my hand, and determinated to catch it on the air, I extend my arm to catch it. Great was my surprise when not only I didn't catch it, but also I pushed it hard to the floor. You can imagine the scene when the screen was smashed and the phone not working anymore... For this reason I would love the OtterBox Symmetry Case for iPhone5S please

Except for the most recent time when we got home and her phone wasn't in the boot... So we used Find My Phone which shows it still at the car park! One day I was fishing off the coast and I had one on the hook. Little to my surprise what was trailing it was very unexpected. As I pulled it out of the water and almost onto the boat a giant shark came racing out of the water behind it straight in front of us, with my body in full flight I lept backwards, going overboard, phone in pocket, drowning it.

An otter-box preserver case (Black) would be sick mighty ape! And a black iPhone 5s wouldn't be to bad either!

I was running down the steps when my phone dropped out of my pocket, bounced off the concrete not once but twice, then bounced off the hood of a parked car and then bounced up and hit the roller door, bounced off that and landed on the concrete again.

    Screen is badly cracked!!!

I would seriously love an Galaxy S5 Glacier Commuter case please!

    Cheers Mighty Ape

I had a brand new Nokia N95 phone which was a big investment for me at the time. I had it in the left pocket of a hoodie, and sat down on a school chair. I noticed it fell out of the pocket onto reasonably plush carpet and when I picked it up, the screen was broken. That upset me greatly.

I'd love an OtterBox Commuter Wallet Case for iPhone 5/5S (Black).

One day where i was working i was on the roof of a building cleaning out some very dirty gutters, filled with water and rotting down leaves when my phone leaped from it's comfortable position in my pocket and belly flopped into the gutter. it survived ... but it wasnt a smart phone and it was a warm day and it was good for drying off

My broken phone story is from some time ago. With my first ever brand new phone. I saved up for it, pretty religiously, and got a Moto flip. I loved it, it was perfect. However, I learnt the hard way, a little while later, that falling asleep while talking to your mate is a bad thing. Not normally, but yes if the phone is charging and it happens to slip under your pillow......luckily nothing caught on fire but the internals definitely fried! Poor little phone. It was a fighter. It tried to come back but failed.

I eventually decided, a few years later, that I wanted to go for a top-notch phone. Despite other mishaps I was determined. So, again I saved and bought an iPhone 4S. Even splurged and went for a 32GB. I thought I was being smart and purchased a case for it - rubber with a plastic shell. Double protection I thought! I thought...It was knocked out of my hand, onto a concrete floor. There was a loud cracking sound. My heart stopped. In that moment, it was Schroedinger phone where it was broken and fine at the same time. Carefully, I picked it up and turned it over. Thankfully it was fine! Phew! So relieved was I! So much so that when it fell out of my pocket the next day while hanging out the laundry I thought it would be fine. Little drop, no big deal. Except this time the ground had small, sharp stones. Poor baby. Wasn't so lucky that time!

If fortune favours, I would love an OtterBox Commuter Case for Galaxy S5 (black) please!

My husband bought me an iPhone 5s just before new years as a "no more babies, here have an expensive baby" type of thing. New years comes and I'm at his sisters, when my daughter needed to go to the toilet I put my phone in my cardigan pocket, and take her to the toilet, I start to crouch to help her flinging my cardi back, which resulted in my not even a week old phone ending up in the toilet full of kid pee. Happy New Years to Me!

I would love an Otterbox Defender for a Samsung S5! Thanks!!

I had an Xperia pro phone with a slide out keyboard for a few years. It worked perfectly until around 2 months ago when my family thought it would be a good idea to toss me in the pool.

It doesn't work anymore, and I simply can't afford to buy a new one because MightyApe has so much stuff for good prices I spend it before I can save up enough.

But anyway, I would LOVE a Galaxy S5 Glacier Defender case please!

Ok this was the weekend from hell, LITERALLY WORST WEEKEND EVER, Like one of those horrible movies you see where something nice gets totally destroyed. This horror story starts on an innocent Saturday with beautiful weather.

Ok so started out a little bad because the gas station I was at wouldn't let me fill up (No Idea why I go there all the time) but meh whatever plenty of other gas stations to go to so got some down the road from nice people.

Next stop me and my GF head to Big Boys Toys for the day, she never been and it was great. We made sure to get lots of photos and we used my phone (LG P500) because it had lots of space on the SD card.

Now as we left a few people were beeping at us and we none the wiser ignored them thinking what an impatient lot and it wasnt untill we got alllllllll the wayyy home (thats Greenlane to Kumeu) and as we pull into the drive I think....."Now where is my phone!!!!!" and at the back of my mind I hear this beeping followed by a very quiet sliding noise and a tiny bump as we pulled out.

So after some shouting and looking we jump back in the car and go ALLLLLLLLLLL the way back to greenlane calling and texting my phone trying to figure out where it could be.

Having no luck what so ever and thoroughly annoying my GF we get back to my place having now used almost all the gas I mentioned before :( we get a call from someone claiming to have my phone. Naturally we were ECSTATIC!! Jumping at the chance to get it back.

Unfortunately this person seemed to want some kind of reward and without any kind of tracking app installed\ working there was no way we could guarantee that we would get it back. So after some negotiating we agreed on an amount (it was reasonable enough to both pacify my and annoy me all at once I assure you) that worked.

We then had another drive to go from Kumeu to Hellensville (Yes that gas was VERY low but we had to step on it).

Upon arriving at the pre determined spot we quickly located the persons and did the exchange. (At this point I would like to say if anyone gets into a situation like this BLUFF and tell them you will give them 24 hours to had it over to police or you will track them down with the app. This practice is both unsafe and also a waste of money as you will see)

What I SHOULD have done when I got my phone back was look at it FIRST because if I had there is no way that I would have given that guy 10c. The phone was a wreck it had fallen straight of the roof of my car and even with a rubber case on it there was no way it could withstand being run over by a few dozen cars. AMAZINGLY it still worked!!! the only think broken was the LCD, the screen was slightly cracked aswell but the back had come off so thats how it survived so well.

That much I could ALMOST ALLLLMOST go "hay it happens, my bad" I mean I left it on the roof right. But then I look for the SD card AND ITS GONE!!!! to this day I have no idea if these guys took it or if it fell out and some bird built a nest out of it (REALLY hope it was the latter).

So what I got out of that deal was a broken phone and a sim card that could have been replaced. What I was not expecting was to go to the gas station (ANND pay a rather absorbatant fee for being in HELLINSVILLE) to find that my Fuel Cap WAS MISSING!!!! where was it you ask? Well after much investigating I realized that I had left that on the roof too!!! After leaving the first gas station!!!

Top Really REALLY top things off the next day we had a wedding to go to which I was one of the groomsmen. Now after everything that happened yesterday could it really get any worse, of course not right.....WRONG!!!!! On the way our car CAUGHT FIRE right off the motorway near the Silverdale Pack-N-Save!!!!!.....needless to say we missed the wedding.

Well that was my Worst Weekend Ever I still use my LG I managed to fix it up with spare parts, it is definitely one indestructible phone but it might be time to get a new one. Would love to replace it with a Galaxy S5 with an OtterBox Symmetry Case (Black) . I dont think I would be able to lose, drop, break, get blackmailed\ Extorted\ almost lose my GF with that sort of protection............................................Right??
    (Thanks for Reading)

I was recently taking my pet armadillo for a walk on the moon when a solar flare occured... obviously stunned by this fascinating event I took out my crappy nokia phone to capture this spectacular event, but unbeknownst to me, my cheeky armadillo had made a cheese sandwich and not shared it with me, which I know you must be thinking is quite a silly thing to do on a moon inhabited by extral large bipedal dinosaurs with a hankering for cheese. It wasnt your standard cheese either... it was molding and putrid, extra stinky... which even I could of smelt had I not been wearing a spandex zoot suit beneath my tight fitting lycra space suit that had recently been sprayed with a lavender air freshner, reducing my sense of smell as they do to all of about 15cm. Well this cheeky dinosaur really wanted to eat some cheese and so without further adieu, it gobbled both of us up!

As I am sure you would agree I dropped the phone, but it unfortunately slid over form the 'take a photo' setting to 'record a video' setting and so it was on this horrorfying setting that the phone surprisingly rapidly was ingested and then elected from the rectum of said dinosaur ( for reference it turns out his name was Bill ). Haha! How we laughed when moments later we popped out of its poop shoot too, all of which was incredibly captured on the crappy Nokia phone!!
I treid in vain to show all my friends, teachers, family and even people on the street but unfortunately due to the completely terrible picture resolution it just looked like someone playing on an XBOX1 and so people laughed at it, a few cried, my grandma threw up on it haha... but that is a story for another competition... ;) And they all lived Happily ever after!

HAHAHAHA!!! I was driving back from the pools with my kids in the car singing away and I heard a "doof doof doof" on my car roof... with the thought of "hang on, where is my phone?"... Thinking I left it at the pools, I immediately pulled over and saw my phone had fallen off the roof of my car after I left it there from putting the kids in the car. It had broken apart on the road but it still looked all soo pretty and unbroken!!!... Unfortunately, next thing you know, there was only one other car on the road and I swear it was an overly large 4WD just ready for a meal. I just had to let it pass, my life wasn't worth it... and I swear he swerved just to aim for it... because next thing you know.. my phone and battery and everything about that beautiful white piece of machinery had been completely smashed... There was one great thing I had going for me... I luckily had a screen protector... didn't do much for the smashed everything of what was once a phone, hahaha... I miss my Samsung S3 - I loved that phone... R.I.P.

I had a Nokia 1110 which had led a pretty rough life, it had been dunked in drinks (deliberately and accidentally), it had fallen off a boat, it had spent time in sand, it had been stood on, flung across a room against a wall and yet still the little bugger wouldn't die. It had a few cracks, dings and scratches and yet still soldiered on. However, it finally died a death when it took an unscheduled leap from a moving car. I had had it resting on the dashboard of my car, where it usually stayed. However, one day I took a rather sharp corner at a good speed and centrifugal force forced the brave Nokia to slide across the dashboard, away from my frantic grasp.....the passenger window was open and so the brave little Nokia flew out of the window and into the path of a roadside pole. The interface between said phone and pole was the final straw with the Nokia finally giving up the ghost.

An Otterbox Defender for a Samsung S5 could go someway to preventing the repeat of such a tragic accident.......

Me and my mates were having a casual kickaround on the field one afternoon and I had a good old Motorola fliptop. For some reason I thought it was a good idea to reply to a text as one of the opposing team was making a run for our goal. Just as I'd opened the phone and was about to reply the guy took a shot and next thing I know all I'm left holding is the base/ keypad of my phone and our goalkeeper picking up my screen 10 metres away... First and last time I ever owned a fliptop.

Sitting on my couch with a plastic bucket full of beers and Ice to keep aforementioned beers cold. Fast forward 1hr and about 12 beers later - I had my phone on my knee while sitting down drinking yet another beer and with the combination of a slight drunkeness coming on and my total relaxed state my phone slides off my knee in to the bucket of water - the ice had melted by this stage - the funny thing was I took me about 30 seconds to realise the light at the bottom of the bucket was not a magical light coming from beer-heaven but my dying Nokia phone - after a sudden "Oh Crap" moment - I grabbed the phone out only to realise it had met its demise. You see MightyApe this is why I need an Samsung Galaxy S5 - with its ability to be submerged in water I will never have this problem again. R.I.P Nokia Phone you are missed!!

I had my very first smartphone, and although it wasn't one of the big smartphone brands, it went online, and it was all shiny and stuff...

Now where I was living up the time was on the third floor of a student Hostel, with outdoor concrete stairs...One night after a good few drinks I stumbled my way up to my bed, through my stumbling I dropped my phone, not only just onto the concrete ground, but down the top flight of stairs, where it decided to not stop as it should, but continue to drop over the side to fall onto the concrete below... the result was not very pretty at all!!! But it was a good way to show that not very smart people can have smartphones too!!!

If I won I would like to win a OtterBox Defender Case for iPhone 5 - Night Sky

We were on our way home from a tiring week cooking at a camp. Before I jumped out of the van to grab some food for the family from McD’s i popped my phone in my empty travel mug, as I didn’t want to lose it in all the luggage. Jumped back in the van with food for the family and coffee for me, which I promptly tipped into my travel cup. About half an hour later I began to wonder where I’d put my phone, and then it dawned on me. Turns out smartphones (unlike me) don’t run on java! Well, one day I headed to the bathroom to use the toilet. Nothing unusual there. Did the ol' down trow, and went to sit down. BUT I had my iPhone in my jeans back pocket didn't I? I was mid 'trow' when I heard the iPhone hit the ceramic bowl, and plonk into the water below... I knew it was all over. Poor iPhone was drown-did. Even a call to 111 wouldn't have brought it back. *Sigh* A hefty insurance excess payment later, and some days without my iPhone, (first world problems) I was finally reunited with a brand new unit....
only to then DROP it a few weeks later (sans it's drop proof case I'd bought to avoid this). Idiot! Cue a shattered screen repair on the cheap. Le iPhone has not been the same since. It's screen display is not dissimilar to an old tube TV with white glare lines from left to right. Ugh. I would dearly LOVE an OtterBox Resurgence Power Case for iPhone 5/5S (Teal). And a new phone to fill it out would be super amazing. Thanks team MA. #GoBananas

Ah, I have gone through a fair few phones. My most recent was my beloved s4. My phones have had to survive more than their fair share of bumps and scrapes, especially with having 3 young kids in the house. But my s4 did not survive the last fall.
I was running late picking the kids up from school and thought i had left my phone safe on the couch as i ran out of the door holding the baby. Got to school fine, but on the way back out of the gate i felt something hit my leg and bounce off my foot onto the concrete path and slide into a puddle. Swarmed with kids it was quickly picked up and put in my pocket until i got home and checked the damage. My poor screen looked like a spiders web, and the whole unit was covered in mud and grass. Such a sorry sight. Moral of the story: don't get too comfortable using your bra as a pocket when at home :/

Would love (and is much needed) an OtterBox Defender case (Glacier) for Galaxy s5 :)

I had a classic toilet moment.
I don't use the phone while I am using the room for fear of dropping the thing and I also worry about it falling out of my pocket and dropping in the water.

So I am careful and I remove it and place it on the window ledge where it cannot come to any harm.

I finish what I am there for and grab my phone, it slips but I manage to get a hand under it, I don't catch it but now the phone is in play.

Bounces off my arm, then brushes a thumb, and finally hits a knee before.......

    Splash Down!

I had hopes of catching it right till the end even though all this happened in a few seconds.

Next thing I know I heard the sound of a screen shattering, so I go back pick up my phone, it still worked thankfully but the screen was in tatters. About a week later a small part of the screen that was broken fell out, I thought nothing of it then the next day more and more screen fell out and eventually my phone was without a screen. I would like the Commuter Case for Galaxy S5 (Black) please.

Sitting on a bus, I was enjoying some music and doing some drum beats on my legs. My old Nokia XpressMusic 5700 was in my front jeans pocket, with a button sewn in front - and I kept on beating to the tune on the button which was right in front of the mobile screen. The screen got wrecked!

I've heard the OtterBox is designed for much worse cases than the trivial situations I've had with my phones - and so I'd love a Defender Case for the iPhone 5S.

    Much appreciated :)

I got myself an iPhone 5 at launch night to replace my Telecom R100 that was driving me up the wall. I was still figuring out the case to buy and was taking really good care of it.

About a week after I bought it, I got out of the car with the phone in my lap and it fell straight onto the concrete on the corner. Lucky for me it missed the screen by a millimetre and only dinged the aluminium frame or the whole screen would have cracked.

Then after a year of having it the lock button failed, and Apple replaced it. When I got the replacement I got an Otterbox Defender case to put it in.

My replacement has had many hard knocks since Quite a few times my phone has gone flying 6 metres infront of me onto the pavement when I trip up. And every time I just get up and pick up my phone and rub the dust off the rubber moulding of the Otterbox case and all is well. Not even a ding in the case!

Get one! I highly recommend it! :D

I would like an Otterbox Defender for iPhone 5S or the iPhone 6 that they are announcing soon! :)

I had a Motorola Defy, which was one of the first (if not the first) water, dust and impact-resistant smartphone.
However, on the last day my football tournament last year we were in a rush to clear out of our hotel rooms so we could get to our final game on time, so I left my phone in my track pants pocket the whole time (one of those pockets without a zip) while I tidied the room up, and I managed to get on the last van just in time.
Just when the van was about to leave drive onto the road, I reached into my track pants pocket for my phone, then I realised my phone was gone. I searched around my seat for a good two minutes, then declared to the driver (one of the parents) that my phone is missing. I thought I might have left it in the hotel room, so we quickly turned the van around, went back to the hotel, grabbed the key for my room from the hotel manager. Then just as I was sprinting back to my room, I noticed my phone lying on the driveway (screen facing down) where the van was parked before we left. I walked up to my phone, thinking it must of slipped out of my pocket while I was loading my bag onto the van.
I thought the phone was alright because the back of my phone was fine, but as soon as I picked my phone up... oh no, my front screen is completely shattered. I assumed the van had ran over it because screen would not shatter completely just from a 1.5m drop (I have done it too many times before)
I am not sure if an Otterbox phone case could help the phone withstand a 3 tonnes van, but if I do win, I would love to have an OtterBox Defender Case for iPhone 5/5s - Black please.

PS: We did managed to get to the game on time!

I had just moved a 15 foot caravan into the driveway, afterwards I stood back next to my mums car to see if the thing was aligned properly, My mother (not being the best driver to reverse) then started up her car and as she was reversing out the driveway she hit my hand with her wing mirror, making my Sony Xperia Go fall to the ground.. Its been through a lot, but that was the end of the phone.

If I win, I would like the Samsung please :)

So in winter, rain and wind blowing we park our car, the gutters flooding. I get out of the car (low seats imo), slip on the concrete edge , phone (Samsung galaxy S1) drops into the flooded gutter, covered in water. Bleeding knee, bruised elbow add to the blow. To it's testament I still use said phone, abet it now has no sound and is old ;) I (and friends and family) would so much love me to upgrade and finally have no excuse for not hearing my ringtone! I was talking to a Musician on the 2nd floor balcony at the live music venue I was working in at the time, I had my original Samsung Galaxy S, in an Otterbox case, in hand, talking away telling this guy a story using my hands to make gestures as you do.... NEK MINUTE... My phone slips out of my hand...

    cue bullet time....

I watch helplessly (best slow motion voice *Nooooooooooooooooo*) as it falls to the road below and after what must have been at least 10 mins of free fall the earths mighty gravitational pull was sucking my phone towards the jagged teeth of the stone chipped road, Suddenly I hear the sound of intense thunder as my phone makes impact.

After the initial shock wore off, I bolted down the stairs to find my phone bleeding out in the gutter, face smashed in. An Ambulance showed up and there were brief signs of life in parts of the the screen, but no response from any interaction, it was pronounced dead at the scene.

I still have the phone and case as a memento, laid to rest in the bottom of a drawer of electrical cables. R.I.P Galaxy S - Lost but never forgotten

I upgraded to the S3 at the time, which is now in need of upgrading

I would LOVE the OtterBox Commuter Case for Galaxy S5

While towing a trailer around at work. The coupling that connects the trailer and forkhoist was faulty, the 2 tonne trailer popped off and in the heat of the moment i pulled the handbrake of the forkhoist and chased after the trailer down the hill and pulled the E-Brake on it which tossed me to the floor, my phone flipped out of my pocket right next to me.... The handbrake on the FORKHOIST was faulty, resulting in the forkhoist rolling down the hill also and rolling over my phone which was directly next to me lol, lucky, kinda.

If I win I'd like the OtterBox Resurgence Power Case for iPhone 5/5S (Black) with an Iphone 5S please :) Thanks!

A normal day getting ready for school, looking through my Iphone 4 that i have only had for a few months, 2nd hand of course. But a decision was about to change my phone forever. I get a text saying " walk from the gardens! " And i decide to do so. As my father pulls to the side of the road i say my goodbyes, only to realise seconds later i was also talking to my phone. As i open the door to my dad's truck; my life falls out of my pocket and shatters beneath my feet. " Was that a spanner? " my dad asks. I knew it was no spanner; and as my heart sank further i told him it was a spanner to deny myself any more embarrassment. I only ever win stickers, But i would be even more in love with Mighty Ape than i already am if the lovely staff sent me an Otterbox Case for a Galaxy S5 <3

    Some really incredible stories here.
I went out hunting with a mate.
Before we left the house I took my phone, 9 month old Galaxy S3 out of my pocket and.... dropped it, luckily it still worked, but the screen smashed and resembled a very well made spider web.
Once I stopped spluttering a random array of four letter adjectives, I placed my phone with my other valuables, on a table in his house, or did I?.
As we crossed a chest deep river (in flood), a random thought popped into my head, "where is my phone?" when I climbed out the other side of the river, I put my hand into my pocket, and to my dismay, my phone with a freshly broken screen was in there, needless to say, it did not go!
But the fun does not stop there, when I got home, cold, wet, and exhausted, I tried to turn my phone on, to no avail, no surprise there really.
I took the battery out and placed the phone by the fire, after about four days, I turned it on, god bless Samsung, it was working just like a new one (with a broken screen of course). I purchased a screen replacement kit, watched a few YouTube videos and had a go at fixing it myself, with great success I might add. about three weeks after fitting the new screen, I got a phone call, when I took the phone out of my pocket, the new screen was smashed. To this day I do not know how it broke a third time, and I miss it, like a Storm Trooper misses... well... everything lol.

Mighty Ape, I could do with an OtterBox Defender Case for Galaxy S5

My sister was walking down K Rd and she was trying to text on her flip phone when someone bumped into her. Because of this she dropped her phone on the ground and we watched, in what felt like slow motion, as the phone snapped in half and then both halves slid down a nearby drain. She was gutted! She has had to buy an al-cheapo phone to get her by till she can afford a better phone and this one is continually playing up. Her birthday is coming up so this would be an awesome surprise.

She would love a Samsung Galaxy S5 in a black OtterBox Symmetry case.

You know when you see someone that you kinda know, you have that awkward moment of "should I wave? Do they even recognize me?" I made the decision to wave, it is a choice that I will regret to my dying day. I had just bought my phone a month before, my first smart phone, an HTC 8s. I had barely gotten used to it when I made the choice to be a friendly person, put that phone in my pocket and wave to this near stranger. Only the phone didn't wasn't ready to be put away and got caught on my headphone cable, when I lifted my arm the cable yanked my poor phone, tossing it into the air and flinging it more than a metre in front of me. The screen shattered and for the month that I tried to use it afterwards threatened to release tiny shards of glass into my fingers.
Please sir may I have another?
I would love the OtterBox Commuter case in glacier (I'd also be happy to have the S5 to go in it)

I was doing the cycling part of a biathlon and it was a pretty wet day. I placed my phone in the pocket of my jacket thinking it would stay dry and safe in case I had a breakdown. Unfortunately when I got to the end of the cycle ride I pulled it out of my pocket and the water ran out of it like a stream. Pulled it apart and died it and put it in the hot water cupboard, but alas it was RIP for said phone.

I was up early one morning to take my dogs for a run around the garden (we have a couple of acres which they love!). It was still very dark, so I couldn't see very much at all. I had my phone in my pocket, as I always did, to keep an eye on the time and make sure I wouldn't be late for school.

The dogs were particularly energetic on this morning, so I was running and jumping around with them to give them a good exercise. We were having so much fun, but the morning was to take a turn for the worst. As I reached into my pocket to check the time, my fingers found nothing but the inner lining of my trackpants.

    "No. This hasn't just happened."

My fingers hurriedly snatched at thin air, still within my pocket, as if they would magically find my beloved first phone somewhere in the depths (a Motorola V3 Razor) - but they had no such luck. My phone had fallen out of my pocket and into the grass, still wet with the morning dew, somewhere in the 3 acre plot. Bear in mind that it was also winter at the time, so the grass had been somewhat neglected and was in desperate need of a cut.

Aware that I had to eat breakfast and leave for school shortly, I decided to run back to the house and call for my dad. We quickly concluded that the best way to find this jet black phone in the early hours of the morning would be to ring it.

The next 10 minutes were spent wandering around the garden trying to listen for this phone, but our search returned no results. Defeated, we wandered back inside as the sun was beginning to rise, and I had to tackle the day phoneless.

I spent the full 6 hours of school worrying about my phone as I watched the rain pouring relentlessly outside the classroom window. The Motorola was alone and cold in the grass, soaking up the water like a sponge, and probably lost forever.

Fast forward to after school. I arrived home as the rain started to die down, so I put on my coat and set off on a second expedition to find my phone. I searched for another 15 minutes before I gave up and walked back to the house, once again, head hanging towards the ground. As I was walking, I saw something glistening in the grass, right by the side of the house.

    MY PHONE.

I swept it up off the ground like a mother protecting her child, and proceeded to inspect it. I flipped it open to see if it was still working, but it had turned itself off at some stage during the day. I tried turning it back on, but the inner circuitry had been damaged, so the power button sent power to the bluetooth light and not the rest of the phone.

It was as if the phone was making its final goodbyes with this flickering blue light, struggling to cling on to life. The light faded out as I tried to resuscitate it, and then it was gone. I shed a single tear.

I would love the OtterBox Symmetry Case for iPhone 5/5S (Glacier) if I won please!

    The double drop

It all started with a slow day at work, one of those days you pull your phone out every two minutes to check the time. So when my boss asks for the time you would think with all the practice I’d have this down, nope I barely touched my time peace as it floated like a lead brick to the floor!.. ‘ah just a scratch’ says the boss as he hands it to me, wait did I...Crash…not again, and that was the last time that phone told time….EVER!!!

Maybe i should get a watch!

My future phone would LOVE a Galaxy S5 Glacier Defender case please, it needs all the protection it can get!

But once when mowing the lawns it fell out of my pocket with out me noticing. What I learnt that day was that phones and lawnmowers do not like each other, it was a battle the phone was destined to lose.

The first story here is about someone else!

    ---

I was walking to the bus one dark morning, and a young woman was walking a few meters in front of me, loudly arguing with her boyfriend on her phone. She reached the lights, PUNCHED the crossing button, screamed in pain/anger, then threw her phone into the road. It was promptly run over by a bus.

    ---

Once I dropped my phone, it broke open, the battery flew out, and landed in someone's fresh spit. My best friend could not stop laughing for quite a while.

    ---

I would love to win this case: http://www.mightyape.co.nz/product/OtterBox-Symmetry-Case-for-Galaxy-S5-Black/22507494

I was carrying my 6 month old out to the car while trying to load our next destination into Google Maps.

My son managed to reach out with the perfect aim that only a fully focused infant can have and swat it out of my hand with reasonable force. I watched it bounce off the car's panel and drop straight towards the concrete.

Reflexively I stuck out my foot to attempt to cushion the blow. Instead I manged to pull off a magnificent Shaun Johnson-esque drop kick. Which resulted in my phone flying end over end to score the winning field goal, screen first, against our rock retaining wall.

With two highly investigative boys to deal with a Samsung s5 in an Otterbox Defender Case may be all that is able to withstand their onslaughts.

A few years ago I was helping do the setup for a show at a theatre in Marlborough. I was moving some pulleys around on the grid floor - a floor that is usually a few stories above the stage, that looks a bit like the top of a packing pellet that is where the shows backdrops pull up to when not in use. I had been on a call with my then girlfriend and as I went to put the phone back in my pocket I dropped it on to the grid floor and disappear through one of the gaps in the floor. Adrenaline surged into my bloodstream and time switched to slow motion as I watched my phone plummet to the stage below, praying that it wouldn't hit anyone setting up on the stage. I called out but it's too far up for anyone to hear. Fortunately the only fatality was my phone as it smashed onto the stage. Needless to say I never took my phone back onto a grid floor again! ... I would LOVE a (Pistachio) Preserver case for iPhone 5s pretty, pretty PLEASE!

I was working at a international cricket stadium and mowing the banks with a big ride on mower. So going round and round mowing when I suddenly see my phone on the ground in front of me (fallen out of pocket), I managed to stop about 5cm away from the phone I was stoked then all of a sudden the mower sucked it under. Found it in the catcher behind me in little bits :(

Several years ago I had one of the Motorola RAZRs. I had been using it for quite a while. It was a good phone and didn't want to have to get a new one. The connections started to get a little fuzzy and the ear speaker didn't work very well so I usually had to put it on speaker phone and turn the volume all the way up to be able to hear anything. Which was a pain to anyone who was talking to me, especially my wife.

So one day we had just left a store and were in the parking lot. I had been talking to a friend and as usual had to get most everything repeated. So when I was done with the call she asked to see my phone. I hand it to her and she simply opened it up and smashed it on the dashboard. It obviously broke into two big pieces with a couple smaller pieces flying around the car. She hands me the two big pieces and simply says "I think your phone is broke, you should get a new one."

So I could really use a new iPhone in an otterbox defender

Discovered Endomondo , an app for my phone to get into shape.. I had lost about 20kgs by then and I didn't want any excuse why I couldn't ride my bike for my daily exercise...

It was pouring with rain.. but went anyway.. New subdivisions sometimes have brick road .. this one did, at the bottom of a large hill. I had my breaks on and at a steady pace (about 35km/hr according to the app) but the difference in friction caused by the brick was much different than the tar seal.. instantly spun out smashed my head (which damaged my helmet but kept my brain in tact) and my phone which was in my chest pocket, shattered in a million pieces.

I didn't go riding again until my bumps and bruises healed and also don't go my normal route in rain.

While in Canada last year, my faithful (solid as a rock) nokia was thrown into a toilet on a night of wild hijinks. Thankfully It was quickly retrieved and deposited in a bowl of rice. My phone had been through so many accidents I thought a little water would be no biggy… And surprisingly the rice seemed to do the trick, my phone was revived to live another day! (With a small token from its trip into Canadian plumbing; a large pocket of water sitting under the screen)
While overseas the poor thing was buried in snow, buried in mud, buried in Canadians!, sat on, slept on, danced on, thrown on rocks, thrown at walls, (thrown in the toilet) and had a close relationship with many concrete paths. My nokia, the trooper, just made it home with me to New Zealand before it expired a heroes death. On a trip with many ups and downs, a reliable phone is a small but very important part of what gets you home. R.I.P(ieces) my faithful phone.

I would absolutely adore a OtterBox Prefix case for iPhone 5 (thistle)! Thank you!

The second time I broke my phone, I was fairly busy getting ready for a road trip. I placed my phone on the top of the car.

As you probably know where this story is going, the phone fell off the car. Well I didn't realize this, then I think "where is my phone?" So I drive back home to search for the phone and well it became the new slim model of the Iphone after I ran over it!

  • Mihali says: 13 August 2014, 7:22pm

My phone’s life was great one, filled with many fond memories of me and phone enjoying life. That was until the day we meet the troublesome app “Send Me To Heaven” or SMTH.

The game is quite simple: “You just throw your smartphone as high as you can, and the phone's accelerometers measures how high the phone traveled from your hand. The higher you throw your phone, the higher you score.”

What looked to be another fun night making new memories turned ended up in resulting in the death of a beloved friend and phone. In attempt to get the one up on my friends and their flashier phones me and Sensei decided to go for the jugular. Up and away he went reaching new heights never seen by phone before. Surpassing the competition Sensei had succeeded in his part, and now it was up to me to bring Sensei home….
What happened next still haunts me to this day. There he was crashing back down to Earth with that silly smile of his, waiting for my embrace, when tragedy struck. As I was lining up my friends trajectory to bring him home safely, I felt my foot give way with no time to recover.

I let a friend, no a brother down, right when he needed me most, but I move on because that’s what Sensei would have wanted. Maybe Otterbox could have saved him, but I’ll never know.
RIP Sensei (HTC Sensation), “we’ll always have Paris”

I think Sensei would like to keep it in the Android family so I’ll ask for an S5 with a Otterbox Defender case in Black to honour the memory of my fallen brother.

I was, of course, on my phone at the same time, and as luck would have it, I also had a glass of orange juice too. The phone slipped out of my hand, and landed straight into the glass of orange juice. I put the phone in rice, and after 72 hours I checked on it. It still worked! I was stocked! I had been cycling to school in Auckland's lovely winter weather a few years back when I came off my bike down a rather steep stretch of road. Needless to say I ended up in a bloody scrapped and bruised pile at the bottom of the hill and had to carry my bike to school due to its slightly munted wheel. My lovely Nokia brick had done more damage to me than I did to it. A nice phone shaped bruise was all I had to remember it by because later that day I lost my phone by it falling out of my pocket somewhere at school.

I was on site about 4 stories high when the magic code word was yelled out.
“Chisel!!, Can someone hand me a chisel!!!!” , this meaning that there was a gorgeous woman we had to stare at walking past the site. Tools were dropped and I swiftly made my way over to the frame where the window was missing while scanning for this amazing lady I was mean to see. Unfortunately it was just someone actually needing a chisel.
Because he was on the floor below me I yelled out to him and went to drop my chisel down to him, but as soon as I leaned out the window hole, my phone decided it wanted to leap out of my top pocket falling from 4 stories high and smashing on the ground below me.
Needless to say I was weary of the chisel call for a while.

Wow there are a ALOT of phone disaster stories well there go my chances of winning haha. My story is a simple "oh no" story I was waiting for a text from my mate and being bored as I usually am I started throwing and spinning my phone in the air and this fateful day as the phone dropped I missed it. But instead of just letting it dropped my sadistic reflexes were like "nah bo you can catch it, I'll help" as the phone passed my hand I instinctively reached to grab it but instead of grasping it tightly and saving it from complete destruction I accidentally hit with my hand, which was going a tad too fast, and it hurled with blinding speed towards my dumbbell I closed my eyes foolishly believing that my lack of sight would save my phone. But alas even with my eyes sealed so tightly the horrible sounds of glass and plastic crashing against an unforgiving metal foe pierced the silent darkness and I was forced to realise that my phone had been vanquished. No longer able to sit idly by while it exhaled it's last breath I made my way to it's side and held it's now fragile body ever so gently in my hands and wept but a single tear and uttered only two mournful words for the loss of my great friend and those words were "DAMN IT!" R.I.P. Motorola "moto" Defy...

I would be absolutely overjoyed if I won a Galaxy S5 with an OtterBox Defender Case (Glacier)

This happened back in intermediate, where having a phone was one of the highest privileges you could have! And I had one. I also had a brother who was about 3 at the time.

I was sitting in the lounge having dinner (hot and spicy noodles) and phone was on the table next to me. It was fairly new at the time, you could even change the backlight color between green, blue, orange, red, SO AWESOME. So im just about done eating my noodles to I put it on the table so I could cope with the inferno which was plaguing my tastebuds, and my little brother decides its a good idea to pick up my phone, chew on the antenna a bit (remember when phones had those?) and then drop it into the soup.

    RIP IN PEACE PHONE.

I think it was about 3-4 months before I was allowed to get a new one, needless to say I kept it away from the lil bro at all times!

So my job involves hydro seeding a spray on grass made up of literally paper mashey on a larger scale with grass seed and fert. So there I am working away mixing it all up in a big tank on my truck as I look down to see how its going my phone decides to slip out of my pocket and go bounce bounce on the deck and plop into the tank. at the end when it was empty I was stoked to find my phone had not gotten munched and was laying in the bottom, low and behold it never turned on again...
I would really love a OtterBox Symmetry Case for Galaxy S5 (Black) maybe then my new phone may last a while longer.

Ok so there I was, sitting on the toilet looking at my news feed on facebook as you do while doing your business.

I had just relieved my self went to grab some toilet paper with my phone in hand. i then proceded to pass my phone to my other hand, slip goes my phone and i get a big splash back as my phone lands in the toilet.

But if you think thats the worst of it you are sadly mistaken. i had just done a number 2 in the bowl, still sitting there beside my phone covered in water i had to reach into the toilet and grab my phone from it while playing cat and mouse trying to avoid getting any on my hand.

once the phone is out i dry it in rice over night and it does not go, maybe if i get a waterproof case with my next phone i wont have the same problems.

    cheers for reading Jordan

Had an iPhone 4 that i cherished! Had it from the first day that they were available off contract in NZ. Took the best care of it and bearly ever dropped it. Old age began to catch up with it until a point where i was unable to charge it and both the home and power button no longer worked. Decided it was finally time to replace it!
I eyed out a brand new Nokia lumia 920 which i had wanted since it was announced! I saved up all i could until i could FINALLY afford it. Brought the little beauty home and literally took it everywhere with me (then again.. who doesn't carry their phone with them everywhere?) ANYWAY.. two weeks after purchasing the phone i decided to take it with me to the bathroom so i could poop to the sound of some beautiful music while playing some silly game.
I did my business cleaned up and enjoyed my music. I stood up and reached over to hit the flusher, phone still in hand. Hit the flusher and much to my horror i witnessed, in slow motion, my beautiful nokia lumia 920 slip from my hand and PLOP hit the water. I grabbed the phone thinking i could save it. I couldn't. It's final words were "And you can tell everybody, this is yourrr soong ihn ksjhgbd" it literally died just like in the movies.
Now with only $30 in my bank account and a broken lumia i was left without a working phone. i was forced to purchase the cheapest phone i could find, a $20 samsung from the warehouse. Its only features being the ability to store 19 text messages and a torch..

    BUT WAIT theres more!
I soon discovered that this phone was almost impossible to destroy! (and believe me i tried!) I would throw it at walls, floors and just about anything. Pop the battery back in and it was good as new!

    UNTIL..
I took it a bit too far.. Standing two stories high i decided i would attempt to throw my phone and try and land it in the basketball hoop +- 30m away on the ground floor.
I took aim and let rip. A perfect shot! Straight through the center of the hoop! My friends cheered on as i went to check on my lovely indestructible phone. It was, as i now discovered, not indestructible. I popped the battery back in and BOOM.. nothing happened. It was totally dead.. No signs of life. My joy turned to sadness as the realization hit me that i had lost another one of my dear cellphones..

So here i am, using an old nokia that has even less features. Hopefully i dont break this one!

I would LOVE any OtterBox case that can protect my phone from me! And a sexy samsung galaxy to go with it!

    Thanks for reading!

Using the portaloos at the hamilton V8s, turned around and lifted up my trousers....to watch my cell phone slow motion fly into the bottom of the the loo. What's worse, I had followed it down with my hand to catch it, only for the phone to fall into the blue fluid below, with my hand and forearm not far behind.
I consequently managed to retrieve my phone along with a bit of portaloo contents up my arm past the elbow. After leaving the loo my mate Sam Sherrard who was waiting outside told me to head back in to clean up as there was an 8 inch long brown streak still on my arm......... My phone didn't work after all that either :-(
An iPhone 5s with an otter box commuter case would surely see me right :-)

I was wearing board shorts to the pool for swimming practice, so the only pockets I had was a zip up pocket at the bottom of the shorts so I put my phone in there. Then I jumped into the pool, swam around for about half an hour and realised something kept hitting my leg, so I opened it in the pool and some air bubbles came out and I saw my phone in there. Soaked. For the last half hour. Unfortunately, it was too far gone for a dip in some rice =( I tried it for a couple weeks, but the best I got was a little fizzle on the screen and nothing. I miss it <3

A few years back we had some pet calves for the kids and they got out (the calves not the kids) and wandered down to the stream... one got trapped and I had to help him out... I slipped in either shit or mud or both, got the calf out, and realised my phone wasn't in my pocket where it was supposed to be...

Another one bites the dust... well the sweet and sour sauce... phone just died Tuesday... I smuggled out some of the new Burger King NZ chicken nuggets for my girls and their friends to try at school for lunch... I had a sweet and sour sauce in my pocket which wasn't used... unfortunately put my phone in the same pocket... as I was leaving one of the teachers asked if I could help lift something heavy... a new stage to be used in assemblies... I'm a parent helper as well you see and volunteer at the school as I am currently not working... as I was helping carry one of the sections into the hall it must have squashed and broken the sauce packet and covered my Samsung in sauce... it worked ok after cleaning it off until last night... first the headphone stopped working... then the touchscreen stopped working... now it's a lifeless paperweight but on the plus side... the kids loved the new chicken nuggets from BK!!!

I use to have a Palm Trio. Awesome little PDA with a shocking battery life of about 5 hours. I was in my room playing Call Of Duty: Black Ops and had my phone on my bed next to my pillow and a glass of water on the ground. I went to the toilet and when i came back I jumped onto my bed and my phone flipped off the bed and into my glass of water. Tried everything to get it working but it never came back to life.
If only they had a Lifeproof Glacier case back then it would have saved my phone.

Just arrived back from the city from partying it up. Was super tired so when I got back home and saw my bed I crashed and chucked my old nokia on the floor next to me. Morning came and my alarm went off so I was searching for it on the floor with my left hand half-asleep. I suddenly crushed my screen's phone in the process and took around 5 minutes later for me to to realize what I had done. T'was an unfortunate ending. I would love an OtterBox Symmetry Case for a Galaxy S5 (black or white) as this may help my new phone withstand any damages in the future.

  • Jason says: 15 August 2014, 3:07pm

Back in the day I owned a Nokia 6120. A simple phone really. I had a midi muppets theme ring tone. Touch screens hadn't even been conceived yet. Internet on your phone. Bah, good luck. But this phone was mine. I had pimped it out with a mean discount parallel imported $2 shop case. I was the man.
One day, I was rushing to work. Running late. I was turning a 40 minute walk into a 10 minute sprint. Dodging and weaving through pedestrians like I was inventing Parkour. Then it happened. The sheer force of my movements had cause the phone to be defying gravity within the pocket of my work pants. It lifted out through the bright opening.
I felt the sudden loss of mass but couldn't adjust in time.
Bang!... clank... the sound of something rolling on concrete which at this time I have not the single word to describe.
My phone hit the ground hard. But this was not my last day of this phone. Because it was a Nokia phone of old. Forged by the same people born from the Norse Gods themselves. Today would not be it's last. I picked up my phone, and picked up the pace.
Another tale tells of the time after a great 14 hour hibernation, I awoke to a room completely destroyed by my former self. The ungodly mess of clothes, books, and children's card games, littered the once acceptable domicile.
I raised a leg from the bed, and placed it firm within the mass and raised my entire weight to an upright position.
Crunch. Crack. The sound of something underfoot disliking the weight put upon it that again may not be easily described in one word.
I raise my foot to find my phone wounded on the cold ground. But this was not it's last day. For it's nigh indestructible might could hold far more than my pitiful weight. Like the mighty Atlas, my phone could hold my weight for many an eternity. The darkest day was yet to come.
Even the most powerful phone, even one forged in the fires of Norse Gods, even one of nigh invulnerability could not be truly prepared for what was about to happen.
One day, the day was hot. The season, summery, and the great Nokia 6120 was although still mighty, was threatened by the overwhelming rise of the Mechanical Androids, and the Shapely Apples. The Nokia's great strength and age was taking it's tole. It's very battery, filled with energy, was bursting out of its own casing. It was prepared for one last battle. But the most cruel thing that can happen to any warrior with the great desire of reaching Valhalla, his final battle, being denied.
Left alone, my phone was greeted not by my smiling face, but by a sadness. My own selfishness brought a sin that I can never undo. I returned... from an in store Sale, brandishing a box unlike anything my Nokia 6120 has ever seen. The box housed, his successor. The Nokia Asha 311.
The specs of this new phone did not matter. The Nokia 6120 knew it's final battle would never come. It's Sim Card was ripped from it. It's final demise, was live burial, within an unmarked box, deep within a store of horded memories.
The only comfort left in the Nokia 6120, was the knowledge, that the youth of it's day had become soft, and so had the Nokia Asha 311. It lacked any comparable strength to take on the might of Robots, and Fruit Trees.
The technological demise of my 6120, was my technological demise as well.
In the honor of my Nokia 6120, I seek out the strongest of warriors to take its place. I believe a Galaxy S5, with a tone as dark as night, anointed in the symmetrical armour of the Otter, can be the only choice in the ongoing battle, with Fruit trees.

One time I was working on my car at night time, I left my phone on the roof of the vehicle, 2 hours later when I was done with my car and take out for a test drive, I completely forgot about my phone, was driving around the block and came back home, then went inside. I sat down and few mins later, thinking where is my phone, I asked my wife if she knows where my phone is at, her reply was nope. I looked around the house. I then accused my wife thinking she was doing a prank on me. Then I think backwards to where I was doing and realised it was on the roof of my car, "oh crap" i said. ran out to check, not there, so I drove my car where I went before that looking and *bounced* realised I have hitted something so I turn the car around and I could see the red light, I stopped and went out to get it and my phone was all smashed up execpt the red light.. "Damn thats $700 down in the drain!!!" I said. Bugger! A expensive repair night for me along with the car!

I would like Samsung S5 along with Otter box commuter please!

My friend was making fun of my secret (but not so secret now) passionate obsession for Cliff Richard (don't judge me).

When he criticised Cliffs dancing I lost it and grabbed what I thought was the less valuable remote and threw it at him...

It wasn't the remote it was my phone, he dodged it in the nick of time and it hit the wall, shattered into different elements and landed in various locations...

I put it back together and to my disbelief everything was in working order. However, a couple of days later, I was jamming along to some Cliff Richard music and texting with my phone in my hand when (because my dancing skills are so amaze) I kind of tripped,
I grabbed onto a window ledge so that I didn't smack my face into anything, but in doing so my phone fell out of my hand, onto the window sill and out the window.

It wasn't in working order after that.

I would just ADORE a Galaxy S5 Black Symmetry Case pretty please, so I can jam along to Cliff Richard and not jeopardize the safety of my phone.

Recently my partner celebrated her birthday during a work trip to Fiji.

Two days before leaving to Fiji, she was surprised to receive an iPhone 4 as a birthday present, from her little sister, who lives in Australia.

The day before she leaves, she convinces me that she needs to get a water proof case for her new gadget, so she can take photos and videos under water.
So we go on the hunt, and find a "Life Proof" case for her phone. supposedly water proof and shock proof to an extent.

We get it home, and test it without the phone inside - as recommended - and leave the case submerged in the kitchen sink for an hour to leak test. Amazing...it works! we wipe it down, and insert the iPhone in to the case and seal it all up again. Happy girlfriend!!!

So the first txt message I get from her in Fiji is...

" Babe...my iPhone got wet, and this will probably be my last txt :( email me please :'( "

Turns out, on her first morning, she went to the gym, and used her iPhone for music. she didn't replace the headphone jack plug, which is a big part of the waterproof function of the case, and then thought she'd be cool, and take some under water photos at the pool.

I can laugh now...but MAN...I was so angry that it happened, especially after she convinced me that this case was a good idea...and I tried to convince her that smart phones just aren't meant to be near water.

I would love to win the OtterBox Symmetry Case for Galaxy S5 (Black)!!! that would be amazing, as I know that the S5 can handle some splashes.

...and of course...the S5 and case will be donated to my partner should I win.

    Cheers :)

Wow... It seems so hard to compete.
I was quite heavily pregnant over the summer and became quite fond of spending time in the ocean as you do not know the meaning of hot until you are carrying around a large parasitic creature during one of the hottest summers in years...
You might be able to see where this is heading.
So I waddle off into the glorious ocean, baggy T, swim shorts, protruding belly and all. I bask in the cool glory like a whale returning home (excuse the imagery).
After a while I wondered what time it was so I began to wade ungraciously back to shore when I realised... I had left my phone in my swim short pocket! I took it apart did the whole hot water cupboard thing for a couple of days but no luck it was written off.
I then massively downgraded to a $50 HUAWEI but it did the job for a while UNTIL!!!
So you know that SOUL SUCKING parasite I mentioned... skip a few months down the line and the parasite was now a semi self sustaining alien like creature overflowing with oral secretions and she was forming... TEETH!!!
Turns out huawei make good teethers unfortunately its not a mutual thing as huawei does not like saliva.
So yeah, I wouldn't say no to a OtterBox Symmetry Case for Galaxy S5 (Black) and the S5 to go with it of course. Luckily the monster is adorable so I'm a winner either way.

Anyway, iPhone 4, life proof case (being a plumber it helps to keep the phone dry in case of accidents...) haha anyway, like I said life proof case, which my stepfather swears by, phones slips out of my pocket stepping out of the van, lands flat on the road and shatters... I was showing my girlfriend the new S5 I bought while we were on the Viaduct wharf, as we were sitting so close to it, I was very careful and holding the phone firmly so that nothing bad would happen. As I showed it to her face, out of no where a seagull came flying straight towards us. In shock I accidentally dropped it over the edge. With a lot of embarrassment and even more sadness, I am back to my old S2 :(

My phone had a really unfortunate dip. One morning at 5:50 I was rushing to get ready for uni and I decided to go for a quick pee before leaving. After taking care of that, I went to pull up my pants and my phone jumped out my back pocket and I heard a plop noise. I turned to the toilet, and to my horror it was at the bottom of the bowl, amongst toilet paper and yellow water as I had not flushed yet… I was very tempted to just flush it away but I dove my hand in to save it. It still sorta works… Frequently it refuses to send texts, let me type or call people. Probably to spite me for its swim, I'm sure :<

Unfortunatly there was a gang of boys walking the opposite way to us who stopped us and talk us to empty our pockets. My other mates got away safely but they managed to pull me back and they began to beat me up pretty badly till I got knocked out. When I regained consciousness I found out they had stolen my 1 month old iPhone 5s and my wallet.

    Oh No.

I would love to replace it with a new 5s and store it in an Otterbox Commuter Wallet case to also stand in for my lost wallet.

There i was, standing on the pier, guiding the boat out of the marina bay. When the boat was free of the bay, i noticed that i was getting left behind so i grabbed onto the rail on the side of the boat. I made contact and then realised i was in a sticky situation, suspended out over the water with my feet on the dock and hanging to the boat for dear life. I leaped and found myself hanging to the side of the boat. Slowly my strength dwindled and i got lowered into the cold water, pockets saturated with technology. It was over, all was lost and i was wet......

I turned the car inside out, all the luggage, gave friends the evil eye - nothing. Secret was solved months later whilst boring relatives with my '2000 pics form my holidays' show: there was a picture of me grinning next to the car - with my phone on the roof where I put it so I could set up the camera and tripod!!! Wonder how long it managed to cling before it went...

Naturally as I fumbled for my keys my phone slipped and fell. It probably would've been alright, if it didn't land between a pebble and my shoe as I was stepping. This broke the screen and rendered it dead. :(

Mine last phone was killed by a Kiwi icon L&P.... It was the weekend and I was craving something sweet and there was nothing sugary in sight, so i decided to go down to the dairy. The weather wasn't too great that day so I put on my waterproof jacket and left. After loading up on sweets and a bottle of L&P from the dairy I took a swig of L&P to tide me over until I got home, "closed" the bottle and put it in my front jacket pocket with my wallet, phone and keys as the other pocket was full of lollies. I got home and went to grab my keys, and they were wet, then i had the oh **** moment and realized the L&P cap wasn't on and my phone had taken a swim in my pocket as it was waterproof and it drowned never to be revived again.... ='(

I was 15 minutes late for work as I rushed out the door with my bag on my back, a piece of toast in my mouth and my Galaxy S4 in my pocket.
Got in the car and reversed down the road (country road).
Get to work and notice that my phone is no longer in my pocket.

Spent all day looking for my phone. Got home and searched high and low for it... retraced my steps from the morning and get outside to the road and notice they have resealed the road.
Look down and see that my Galaxy S4 is tarsealed into the road with a smashed screen.
The phone must have slipped out of my pocket as I went to sit in the car, I then proceeded to reverse over it cracking the screen and squashing it to death, and then lady fate thought let's make this worse and have QRS permanently stick it to the road.
Dug it out of the road with a shovel and then was so angry that I decided to cut it into small pieces with the shovel.

I don't know how much use an OtterBox Glacier Galaxy S5 Commuter case would fare against shear stupidity, but I would really appreciate it.

I had almost finished high school, the summer coming within a week I was hanging with my friends at lunch and we were laughing and having so much fun... so much fun that I threw my Iph 3G into the air and I watched in horror as it came down onto the ground face-down!
I let out a screech that was like a animals, I couldn't afford another phone, let another Iph!
My heart racing I approached it and picked it up.
Turning it I thanked god that only a crack happened in the top right corner, and a few dents!

Its been over a year but I still have the same phone and it has major defects. It freezes frequently (alot on the alarm so it continues going off for 30mins).

I dont know what I will do with this phone, but I know it wont last for long. Please consider me for the phone and case!

Hmm well my 'Oh no!' moment isn't for my phone, but my Dad's, although I did cause the 'Oh no!' moment so I reckon it counts. He was listening to music on his phone with his ear buds in, getting business done in the loo. I walked in, not realising he was there.

    Oh no!

He turned around in surprise, and, in doing so, pulled his phone with him. It landed in the toilet.

    Not good.

I would love an iPhone 5S with the matching case so I can give it to him as an apology haha!

I was filling up my car at a petrol station, and placed my phone on the roof of the car as i was filling up, and when i paid and got back into my car i drove off.

After about 5 minutes of driving, realization crept up on me and i knew that my phone was, well no longer my phone. After spending what felt like a lifetime searching for it along the road (I was in town), i found its lifeless remains in countless pieces!

And all i could do was blame my daftness for an easily preventable tragedy!

So Mightape, i would absolutely love an OtterBox Commuter Wallet Case for iPhone 5/5S (Black) and the iPhone 5/5S that comes with it would be awesome too!

It was a miserable day, with torrential weather trying its absolute best to ruin the day that Mum and I spent together. However we persisted, and managed to do our shopping in record time, and battled through the horrible temperamental weather in the station wagon.

Then we saw it... the dairy. Mum and I decided to reward ourselves due to having to brave through the weather, so we parked near the dairy to buy ourselves some goodies for a nice quiet night.

When I opened the passenger side door, and looked down, there was a big stream of water that was between the car and the sidewalk. In order to prevent my poor feet from getting wet, I maneuvered myself tactically. It was all going well until I felt something solid slip and escape from my pocket, and moments later hear a nice little "blob" sound below me. My poor $500 Sony Ericsson sacrificed itself to keep my feet from getting wet and I yelled several words of cursing only moments afterwards.

I would really like a OtterBox Commuter Wallet Case for iPhone 5/5S (Black) please!

Wow! There are A LOT of "Oh No!" moments from everyone, more than a few involving a toilet...These stories are brilliant , keep them coming - everyone around the office is having a great read.
In response to some of your stories, all I can say is...
    @Sebastion - I really wouldn't recommend you try flipping open a Galaxy S5...
@Hamish - Did you get the phone out of the toilet (where the poo was)?
@Kana - I don't know what's more impressive, the aerodynamics of an HTC, or your kids throwing arm!
    @Fia - Just...Wow.
@Ellen - If only they made Otterbox cases for people...
    @Andrew - That's a high price for a photo. I hope it was a good one!
@Alastair - After all the pain you put that poor Nokia through, are you sure it didn't jump out the window?
Keep the stories coming guys, you've got just over a week to get in the draw with your story!
Of course, remember that we need to know what phone and case (including colour) that you want should you win, so be sure to note it after your epic story!

I was on the train with my friend a few years ago and he was playing a game on my phone where you have to shake the phone. Nek Minnit, it goes flying down to the other end of the carriage like a boomerang. It didn't hit anyone luckily but it cracked the corner of my case as well as giving a few other passengers a fright. The phone still worked fine... I think.

I would love a new iPhone 5S with the Otterbox Commuter Wallet Case please.

Our Oh No moment, we had three within a few weeks, and were to embarrassed to ring the insurance company after that, the first one was my hubby was out hunting and just finished crossing a river, and he had said phone in his breast pocket, he lent over and out it fell to the bottom of the river. Hubby proceeded to call the insurance people, who them paid out (it was an expensive phone at the time), they did not want the old one back, so we thought oh well, put it in the hot water cupboard, left it in there for a few days after getting the new phone, and found that we got the other one working, so we ended up with two. For some reason, Hubby had both of them in his pocket again, and bent over some water again (no joke) and both fell out and into the water. Again another call to the insurance and the whole story told to them, they could not believe it, so paid another excess and got another phone number 3, lucky number 3.

Well Lucky number 3 was put on the window sill while heating up some oil (home made chips yum) on the stove top, while that was heating Hubby started on making the actual chips, he opened the window to let the steam out instead of all over the window, guess what, a gust of wind comes up and pushes number 3 phone into the boiling hot oil - yay 1 deep fried cell phone, with a diet pepsi please.

We could not believe this, at this point we were far to ashamed to ring the insurance company, as we believe they would think we were making this up, I could not believe it, that is until hubby came into the room holding said phone with oil dripping everywhere, sorry but I just could not stop laughing at him.

Ok so I had an iPhone 3gs. Was in a real rush to catch a bus, had my iPhone in the pocket of my jumper and was holding my jumper. After quickly getting all my stuff together I shut my locker, and as I did, I looked down only to see my iPhone 3gs slipping away from reach. Everything was in slo-mo as I desperately tried to grab it before hitting the solid concrete below. I was too late. I watched in despair as my iPhone shattered into little pieces. The glass was smashed, the back plastic cracked and scratched and no life in it. Tears started to roll down my face as I heard laughter from the little year 9's that no-one likes. It was only a half a metre fall too.... Sad, sad times in my life. But if was to get the latest Black iPhone 5s with any colour Otterbox then my life would be complete once more <3. Thanks MightyApe for this awesome giveaway!

My "Oh-No!" story is quite funny but quite unfortunate for me too... :(

About five years ago, we went and got a Golden Retriever puppy (you can probably see where this might be going.), while we were there, we got told "be careful leaving your phone's around the house, the father has been known to get a hold of them."

Just a few months ago, my, now, five year old puppy was at home alone, and unfortunately, I left my phone at home to go out a few hours, he obviously got quite bored, and when I got home, I decided I'd check my phone, to see if I had any texts, and I couldn't find it...

I searched for it for about twenty minutes, and couldn't find it at all, so we called my phone using the landline, and you can probably guess where we found it...

I listened, and heard vibrating... Inside my dog's stomach... We then had to take him to the vet, to get the phone removed, and because of this, I had to buy a cheap nokia phone, (My mum didn't want to get me a good phone as "I already had to pay about $200 for the vet to get the phone removed")

The only upside to this is that I have an awesome to tell the children/grandchildren in a few years!

If you pick me, could I please have a Samsung Galaxy S5, with a Otterbox Commuter Case for S5 (Glacier)

I had an iPhone, and I loved every single bit about it, from the day I started saving up I was motivated to get my hands on a 4 inch retina display. When I saved up my last sent, I went to my local JB and got myself a black iPhone and this is when my obsession with phones started. Before I had a Samsung flip phone (which I now use :( ) and didn't really care about phones.
Day 1, Installing all the apps and having a blast. This wasn't only my phone, it was part of my life, my daily life. I checked my social media accounts, news and basically did everything with it from taking beautiful 8 megapixel pictures on such a HD retina display screen , seamlessly scrolling through my news feed and playing games smoothly thanks to the A6 chip which always made the phone a lot smoother and perform to its full potential. The phone also helped me in my everyday life, I used it for homework (yes, hard to believe) manage my e-mails, bank account, did presentations and projects on the run, research, keep in touch, capture memories, online shopping, GPS and many more things.
I fully protected my iPhone 5, I cleaned occasionally and bought many cases for it, which made it even prettier and more protected. The cases which I had on my phone was a wallet type of case since I stored all my cards and cash in it for easy access and also didn't want to carry a wallet.
The day of the incident occurred at my 15th birthday, I was having a party with friends and family, capturing photos and sending snapchats and having the time of my life until something happened. My dad offered to take a picture and he help my phone with his hands high in order to capture a full on picture involving everyone. When he was about to take the picture, the phone slipped out of his hand and fell into a bowl of ice. This happened in slow motion and my heart skipped a beat. I rushed to grab the phone, and started to turn it on. It did, I was happy but then it shut off, the smile was quickly wiped off my face as I rushed to grab the rice and I placed my phone in a bag of rice. This was not successful. 3 days later I tried to turn my phone on but it failed, I started begging for it to turn on and remembered every single cent which I saved up and every second I spent with it :(. This was not successful and I couldn't buy another one as I couldn't afford another one so I was back to step one. I decided to sell my phone and use that money to start off to save up for a new iPhone. I sold it for $50 and now I started saving up because I can't live with a Samsung flip phone (although the battery lasts for about a week) and I really need my phone again as it kept me up to date on what is happening around me.
Yeah I know my story is long but I this is just the small things which I have to say about my phone. It would be really good if you guys picked me 
If I get picked and I would really love an iPhone 5S with the OtterBox Commuter Wallet case (in black please). Hope you guys read this and help a guy out from waiting a years till I get a new phone  Thanks a lot

I'm currently planning a trip to Europe with friends; my first big trip out of little old Aotearoa! On Friday evening (4 days ago) I hurriedly and exitedly pulled out my phone (Galaxy S3) to show a friend the place where we would be staying in Barcelona. In my enthusiasm I managed to launch my phone though the air before it came crashing down onto the concrete, absolutely obliterating the screen, and quickly followed by a slight variation on the phrase "Oh No!"

So, I'm currently in need of a replacement phone and I would love an OtterBox Symmetry Case for Galaxy S5 (Black) to protect my phone from my own enthusiasm in the future :)

I was at a party at my friend's farm. We spent a lot of time outside and most of that time was spent wandering fields. When we set out, I had my phone but when I had returned to the farmhouse the phone was gone. Trying to organise a search in the middle of the night with my only resources being a load of drunk people was a futile idea. However, the next day when I return to search the fields I found out that the hay-bailer had come earlier that morning and bailed the fields, meaning my phone was most likely smashed to bits. It was a stretched out and mournful "oh no" moment.

I would love the OtterBox Commuter Wallet Case for iPhone 5/5S (Black) and accompanying iPhone 5s.

My very first mobile phone met it's untimely demise against high odds. I used to visit friends that were flatting when they were students. I'd recently started work and had gone and bought myself an early Nokia mobile phone. It was big, black, a monochrome screen, had a clock, a calculator and the game snakes on it. Back then that was high tech. We were all getting ready to go to the pub and I had a poured myself a beer, placing it on the ground beside the armchair. My phone rang, I took the call then placed the phone on the arm of the chair.

I moved my arm down and as I placed it on the arm, I knocked the phone, the room went silent. We all watched in slow motion as the phone slipped, turned on its end and fell downwards.

To this day I don't understand how my beautiful new phone, barely wider than the neck of the glass could have landed so snugly, without even touching the sides into the glass of beer.

Needless to say it never worked again, and I learned a very valuable lesson about the value of insurance.

My current phone is an iPhone 4 (dropped, screen replaced twice). Come the next iOS update it won't be updateable so I am in desperate need of a new iPhone 5s and I would love to have the OtterBox Commuter Wallet Case for iPhone 5/5S to ensure that the phone is protected when I inevitably drop it.

Oh No Moment - "When my wife been dragged into the sea with both of our iPhones by a huge wave"
Would Love to have - Black OtterBox Preserver Case for iPhone 5/5S

It was one of those beautiful hot days during mid-winter. Me and my wife were celebrating our birthday's at Coromandel. After enjoying a lovely breakfast, we headed towards the Cathedral cove. The scenic beauty was breath taking and worth all the curvy roads and hilly climbs. It was already mid noon when we reached cathedral cove. We enjoyed our time together walking and taking pictures of the beautiful sandy beach.

We then crossed the arch separating the two beaches at the cathedral cove. We hardly knew the time flew by. It's was almost 3.30pm when we decided to return back. We got ourselves ready for the long walk. I was carrying a backpack, camera, tri-pod and my shoes, my wife carried our Jackets and iPhones on her pocket. But it's when we tried to cross the arch that we realised, it was already high tide. The big heavy waves were rushing into the shore hitting the rocks. We found it very difficult to cross the arch and waited patiently to cross when there were no waves.

After waiting for almost 10-15 minutes, my wife found a gap to cross the arch before the next wave. But by the time she reached half the arch, she got froze in the middle, seeing a big strong wave heading towards her. The wave took her down along with the phones and jackets and dragged her towards the sea. I was lucky to reach and grab her before any bad could happen. By this time we both were completely drenched. We both then got to the shore and found out that our phones and camera wasn't working. Thinking that it will be small fix, we headed back home with some unforgettable memories.

On reaching home I went to the technician with our phones and camera. From him, I came to know that our phones and camera were completely damaged by the sea water :( and cannot be repaired. Unfortunately they weren't insured either :( .

I learned the lesson in a hard way and now my contents are insured and all my electronics equipments are far from sea water.

My story isn't so much an 'Oh no' moment but more of a facepalm moment. Truth be told; it's a complete mystery how my phones screen smashed. It had been fine for the past year tucked nicely away in the Otterbox Defender for a Note 2. However, in my dressing up for my works Midwinter Christmas Party, I decided to remove it from its Defender for the night thinking; "What's the worst that can happen?". Long story short, I awoke the next morning with no recollection of the prior night and a giant crack across the screen of my Note 2.

I learned my lesson the hard way. So having a new S5 that stays snuggly in a Glacier Defender case would be amazing. I certainly would not be removing it again anytime soon.

This happened last year while I was studying at NMIT in Nelson. I was in the Trainee Ranger course and we were in the middle of the rural fire training. This was in the middle of a field, there was a huge monsoon bucket filled with over 600L of water which we used to practice with the pumps. We had split into different groups and were doing time trials in settting the pump up, running the hose out, connecting extra hoses and spraying water into an imaginary fire. After each run we had to dismantle the gear for the next group. As I squatted down next to the monsoon bucket and attempted to disconnect a hose from the pump I got a wash of cold water down my back (worth mentioning it was winter), I looked up to find one of my team mates pulling a suction hose out of the water and in the process tipping water down my back.
Well I thought I'd teach him a lesson and give him a dunking. Although as I struggled to tip him into the monsoon bucket the other 18 people on the class came to his aid. In short, the tables were turned an I ended up getting the dunking. As I pulled myself spluttering out of the water I remembered about my phone... too little to late, it was dead. It spent a week in a bowl of rice but never came back to life.

It was all in good humour though, the people from that class are like whanau to me. You can't stay angry with family.

Thanks for reading this little story. I would love an LG G3, with the Symmetry Series Case (Denim).

On a visit to my cousin's place, I lent my blackberry phone( this was a long time ago) to my cousin's son to play. Anyway, whilst I was busy chatting, the phone got dirty and the sweet little guy (bless him) washed it for me in the sink, to the horror of some of my family who saw it. The phone still worked at first so I thought everything was all good, but man was I mistaken. On the second day, I woke up to a flickering screen on my phone. The day after, two random black lines appeared. And finally on the fourth day, after days of anguish my blackberry died (RIP). But it wasn't all bad, the good news is I managed to sell the remains to buy another phone and I got this cool story to tell about the my awesome family.

If I win I'd like an iPhone 5s with an OtterBox Resurgence Power Case (glacier). Thanks.

Many years ago, I loaned my faithful and reliable Phillips Savvy to a friend for a day, as his phone had recently died and he was expecting a call for a job interview (I am a good friend) and he was walking around the waterfront in Wellington, when my phone started to ring. He grabbed it out of his pocket, and it slipped straight out of his hand (he claims he was not used to the shape of it, so not entirely his fault) and off the edge of the wharf it went... never to be seen again, sinking to the depths of the bay. RIP my faithful friend. I still miss my Savvy!

So I had a Sony Xperia P, it was a good phone when I got it a year and a half ago but it slowly lost its edge. For example, I'd be using my phone how I normally use it when all of a sudden I would go from 30% battery to 10% in an instant. One time this happened, i was helping my cousin in the dark, i had the torch on when all of a sudden my phone waned me there was only 14% left, which was odd because there was 54% when i turned it on. The kicker was that my battery percentage decided to become a countdown timer and turned off when it got to 0%. It drained at a % per second!! Anyway, after that incident, I decided to look at new phones, but since I'm a uni student, I couldn't afford any decent phones, but as if my current phone knew what was happening, it started to fritz even more. I would be texting, when all of a sudden, it freezes for an instant before composing its own message of absolutely incoherent gibberish before sending it to the recipient (you have no idea how many times my mum thought I was drunk in the middle of the day)... Well one day I was trying to send an important email off my phone when all this happened at once.. My phone started freezing up and typing in gibberish, in an attempt to stop the sending, I started pushing the power off button, to which my phone responded with a low battery warning and countdown before shutting off on its own. In my frustration I took aim at the wall in my living room ready to let this phone fly straight into it, when in a moment of clarity I realised I couldn't afford a new phone, so I altered my aim to the couch in front of the wall in the last possible moment. The result was a mobile phone ricocheting off the couch and smashing into the only concrete on the floor in front of the fireplace. Even at the very end my phone decided to get one up on me!! It's those damn Android phones, just have a mind of its own (because Androids are able to learn) haha

I would very much appreciate an OtterBox Symmetry Case for iPhone 5/5S (Triangle Grey) please

To add further insult I got a call from our evening girl to say she had just been admitted to hospital and wouldnt be at work for a few days. I hung up in a rage and dropped my brand new S4. To add further insult in fumbling trying to catch it I accidently kicked it into the adjacent wall resulting in a totally shattered screen.

I was helping move a bed off of a ute and decided to place my 3 day old Galaxy note 2 (which didn't have a case at that moment, because It hadn't arrived yet) on the bonnet of the ute. Halfway through the door with the mattress, and I hear a screeching of it sliding and a crack off it hitting concrete. I honestly just stared at it for a couple of seconds, not believing what I had just done. I ran over to pick it up and it was shattered. Just to add insult to injury, the case arrived the next day ._.

I would love a Samsung S5 with an Otterbox symmetry case

This happened a few years ago, I went to check on my daughter, as she was playing with her toys before, but had gone quiet, so A, she was either engrossed in her play, or B she was up to no good. What I did discover to my horror was that she had decided to do something kind in her own way, but not so good for me. She had filled up a toy bath with some soapy water and was "washing" my phone for me. Her exact words were, "daddy, your phone has a dirty screen, I'm giving it a good clean".
Can I please have the OtterBox Commuter Wallet Case for iPhone 5S -Black with an iPhone 5s if I win.

My family and I were driving down to Wellington. I thought it would be a great idea to take scenic photos on Desert Road while the car was still moving. I wound down the window, held my arm out and after a couple of photos got distracted by a conversation that was going on in the car. I let go of my phone and watched it ricochet on the road in the rear view mirror.

I was at the famous luge in Rotorua. About o take a ride down the mountain on the karts with my sister and a few mates. Although before we all decide to track down, my sister decides that it would be a safer idea if she and everyone else gives me their phones to hag on to, because I was apparently the "Least likely to crash."

So there I am with 2 cell phones in each pocket (Including my own) racing down this awesome track. After 2 tries racing down the beginners and intermediate tracks i felt pretty confident, hell I felt great!!! so i decided that my last time round I would try the advanced track.
So as im shooting down the steepest and winding track I see a small hill which looks like it would make a great ramp. Awesome, I think to my self,"I'm going to get airborne." I nail the take off, but thats the easy part, the landing was a bit rough in the sense that I landed in one spot and the kart landed in another. So i go flying off the kart, tumble and roll with no more than a few cuts, grazes and hurt pride (nothings quite as humbling as a good fall.)

so we all hobble back into the car after our day trip when my mate asks for his phone back. After I give it to him there was an "Oh S**t" moment when he sees his screen is completely smashed!
So I pull out the other 3 phones, lo and behold cracked and broken screens all around!!!
(I wasn't very popular that day)

I'd really like the Galaxy S5 with a black outtercase.

My dad is getting on now and is no longer able to keep his balance climbing up on ladders and high areas. I volunteered to climb the ladder and up onto the top of the roof and make the repair via his instructions on the phone, so I made my way up. With tool in hand I carefully made the repair and he was happy with it, so I hung up the ph and stuffed it into my pocket.... or so I thought! it wasn't quite in and slipped out as i was gathering the tools up! I tried to stop it falling by sticking my foot out only to kick it, and the last I saw of my beloved ph was bouncing down the roof and disappearing over the gutter... Gutted. (sorry bad pun!) all I heard was the smash as it landed on the concrete driveway :( In panic I stumbled down the roof too fast lost my footing (and the ladder) and almost fell off the side and narrowly missed falling and breaking a few bones.
Despite being winded, a rolled ankle and most of all a utterly destroyed phone (shattered screen battery flung out the lot) I still help dad out, now using sign language!
I'd really like the Galaxy S5 since I dont have a good ph at all and I WONT be taking it up on a roof!!!!

I was texting a mate when my mom and dad called me. I threw my phone on the bed, asked what was up and did the task they had told me to do. I went back to my bedroom and jumped on my bed low and behold I cracked my phones screen with my knee.. OH NO I have to tell my dad moment -_-

My Tale of Woe is not a long one but a little out of the ordinary.

I was in the despatch area of a genetics company I work for as a sales rep when I noticed a 100litre tank of liquid nitrogen that is used for keeping "fluid" frozen in straws while it is being transported, these tanks have no lids and I could see that overnight, Ice crystals had formed that resembled fern fronds around the edges of the tank. it was about half full at the time. (you can see what is coming here cant you?)

The night before I had been and purchased my pride and joy (a brand spankers HTC one X) I thought I would test the camera and take a photo of the ice crystals... as I was getting the ice in shot, my backpack slipped off of my shoulder and jolted the phone out of my hand and into the Liquid Nitrogen at -196 degrees (sigh) I watched it sink to the bottom (lights still on) and settle there.

I quickly called out to one of the guys in the yard who came to help after about 2 mins and proceeded to tip the tank over and pour the nitrogen out all over the concrete floor, sadly after this period of time my phone was solid as a rock and due to the fall from the tank smashed into what seemed like a million frozen pieces.

I am currently driving a not very "Smart"phone with no touch screen at all.

Told ya it wasn't an ordinary way to wreck a phone...

If I win could I please have an Iphone 5s with the otterbox commuter wallet case for iphone 5/5s (glacier) ha I just noticed the colour, (glacier is pretty ironic)

Two years ago whilst driving my truck through Waihi I stopped for a coffee, placing my phone in my top pocket I leant down do dome basic ruck checks then went to get my coffee. Ten minutes later following my caffeine fix my heart skipped a beat ax I realised my phone was nowhere to be seen. I returned to Waihi to the coffee shop and found what remained of my phone on the floor in pieces flat as a pancake. I had whilst doing my truck checks dropped my phone from my top pocket and I had reversed over the it leaving it utterly destroyed. To make matters worse I had just met a girl I was very keen on impressing and in the middle of arranging a date with her. Needless to say the phone was the key to making this happen.
I would love the new iPhone 5s with case please!!!
    Thanks.

Last year I was out on the farm filming a shooting video with my brother (can you guess where this is going?). We had some eggs set up a hundred meters away and were shooting them and recording it in slow motion. My iPhone was a few meters from the target on top of a fence post, leaning against an old knife that was jammed into the post.

After we’d finished with the eggs and filming I was wanting to show off my shooting chops… so I lined up the crosshairs on the tiny knife 100 meters away and decided I’d shoot it out from under the iPhone.

Well it didn’t go quite to plan. I hit the knife… but the force of the bullet hitting the knife spun it and sent the iPhone in the other direction back towards me. By this point it’d started to register that it wasn’t the brightest of ideas to send a piece of metal a few inches from my iPhone at three times the speed of sound.

Luckily I was only out $180~ for a new screen. I’ve got both the video footage the iPhone was taking as it flipped through the air and a nice picture of my poor iPhone lying in the grass with a mangled screen.

    …Pretty clever…

I was on my way into course one morning on the bus. When in was halfway there I went to get my coffee out of my bag only to find out that it had spilled all through my bag over everything including my phone. Over the morning the phone started to deteriorate and eventually ended up with a tartan screen and completely unresponsive.

One afternoon decided I wanted to get some great landscape picture while riding my horse ... The idea that I could get one with the back of his head in it while walking along. So I pulled the phone out of my pocket and as I went to put it on the camera I lost my grip & dropped it on the ground. As I saw it fall In slow motion then hit the ground my heart stopped but lucky for me it didn't break or get stood on by the horse, just landed right next to the hoof . I jumped off as fast as I could to pick it up but as I went to grab it my horse put his leg out to scratch his face and landed his whole weight onto that hoof , which was on top of my phone ! I was so upset because I could hear the screen & stuff break under the weight . It happened so fast I couldn't stop him . That's why I would love the OtterBox Defender Case for iPhone 5 - Glacier

I'll keep it nice and short. I have a son who loves playing games on my phone
One day we were at rainbows end I didnt even realize the cheeky bugger took it out of my pocket next minute we are on the roller coaster... the first loop round was awesome so we decided to go again. And then all of a sudden my iphone 5 is flying towards the ground ay ridiculously fast speeds. Little did I know that ot was my iPhone I was sympathising for the poor bugger who lost their phone off the ride. We get off the ride and my son was acting strange we walk past where the phone landed where there is a bunch of people standing around it

The case looked familiar and thats when I knew it was my phone my son had dropped.

I would love a new iphone please!!

A few years ago I was playing a game of ‘Pooh Sticks” with my daughter. It’s the game where you throw sticks into a river from one side of a bridge and then dash to the other side to see whose stick wins in the river’s current. I had my hands full so cleverly thought I’d pop my iPhone into the hood of my hoodie. And yes gravity and logic defeated my ignorance. As I looked over to see who’s stick had won my daughter and I watched my phone sink to the bottom of a clear river. She thought it was rather funny for some reason. It looked very Lord of the Rings… ‘one ring on the river floor’ like. I was able to recover it quickly and miraculously the bag of rice trick worked.

This was actually the most awkward thing that ever happened to me.

So I was on my first date with this guy I really liked - I know, a disastrous start to any story. but anyway we had this absolutely amazing date, it went off without a single hitch. We were waiting for the train out of town and I was trying to be impressive (like you do when you like a guy), we were chatting away and, well the orange juice that I had in my hand started leaking all down the front of my pant leg, I didn't realise and I kept on talking, after a significantly long time I finally realised that he was trying to tell me that it was leaking. I awkwardly smiled and then tried to wipe off my pants but then realized that my phone was in my pocket and this orange juice was starting to seep through. Now my phone is in no way water proof, I have had to get it repaired 3 times for water damage, and not wanting to damage the thing anymore I had a massive fit trying to get my phone out of my wet (and now sticky) pocket, and in the rush of trying to avoid getting my phone water damaged I dropped it onto the railway tracks. I swear Mighty Ape, at that point in time my heart just stopped, time stood still and sad, depressing music played as I watched my phone tumble from my sticky figures. It was really awkward, and I had to rush to find an official who could get my phone off the tracks for me but unfortunately my phone had reached the end of the tracks... :'( and I ended up spending the rest of the date being all sticky... :'(
Maybe if I had one of those awesome OtterBox Preserver Case's for an iPhone 5s I wouldn't have a smashed, sticky phone carcass, and instead just sticky pants.

At my school there is this thing called the Jesus Stump. It used to be this great big tree until it grew to big and unruly, so it was cut down to just a nubby looking stump and we call it the Jesus Stump because in the middle of it is this perfect cross (or I suppose if you look at it upside down a satanic cross). Anyway, my friends and I were hanging out near the Jesus Stump and I had my phone in my hand, texting away, oblivious to my surroundings when BAM! A soccer ball came out of nowhere, bounced onto my forearms then straight into my face. My phone fell from my hands and onto the Jesus Stump smashing into lots and lots of pieces. When I finally got my bearings and and wiped the stinging tears from my eyes, I looked down only to see the horrible murder scene that was my phones demise.
I would greatly appreciate an iPhone 5s with an Otterbox Commuter Wallet Case Glacier (for iPhone 5 obviously...) Please and Thank you! :D

This all happened about a month back. We had just finished up a site visit and had got back in the car and started to make our way back to the office when I reached for my phone and discovered it wasn't there, it must have slipped out of my pocket at some point and so we went back to go back to look for it. We made our way back to where we had been earlier started combing area, during which we were passed by a 16-wheel logging truck. We found the phone on the side of the road shortly after only to discover that it must have had an unfortunate meeting with said truck only moments earlier. Amazingly it was still in one piece, only with a rather white screen, needless to say the phone was a write off after that (yet somehow the sim card survived). It would be awesome to receive a Black Otterbox Commuter case for the Galaxy S5. Cheers Mighty Ape.
